Thanks Karen! I am looking forward to it, but its still 6 months away. I wish it were in the winter too. Something about going somewhere very warm when its very cold at home!
Yeah, I can see that would be ideal. Too bad you can't convince your friends to change the wedding date . It's nicer to have a date to aim for in fitness goals for me, rather than a vague thing like bikini season.
I'm glad you caught up with your brother and found out he's okay. Happy Holidays and hope you enjoy the time with your family.
OMG! I was just checking in for a second, not planning to post til later, and I saw this GORGEOUS face in my log - I didn't even know who it was at first!!!!

BEAUTIFUL new avi, girlfriend!!!
X3! I just saw you while browsing someone else's log, too .
Enjoy your break, and your time with your family. The workouts and tracking will all still be here when you get back.
Thanks Anne! I am looking forward to some time with the fam.

Well yesterday was a super lazy day! I tried to make up for it by working hard in the gym this morning. Here is what I did:
Superset:
Squat
15 x 45 - warm up
10 x 95
8 x 115 - only got 8 this set...hmmmm
10 x 115
cable row:
10 x 75
10 x 75
10 x 75
Superset:
swiss ball supine hip extension with curl
10 x BW
10 x BW
10 x BW
barbell push press:
10 x 60
10 x 60
10 x 60
Superset:
Static Lunge
10 x 65
12 x 65
12 x 65
flat bench:
10 x 65
10 x 65
10 x 65
Then 20 minutes of walking and jogging on the treadmill.
Well I probably won't be around here for a couple days since we are leaving in a few minutes to drive to my parents. I will try to catch up on logs if I get a chance while there.
Have a fun visit - we'll look forward to hearing all about it when you get back!

Thanks everyone!
It was nice to be home with my family. We ate a lot and relaxed a lot! I sleep so well at my parents house, not sure why. I could sleep for days there. Some kind of comfort thing I guess.
I worked out Monday, posted above, then took Tuesday off. Wednesday I did a little home workout in the basement. My brother did some workouts down there too! He got creative and put a bar between the rafters for pull ups. They also have a jump box, various dumbbells and plates, and heavy bands. It was fun watching my brother do his stuff. I did this on Wednesday:
Circuit style, 15 reps each 3 times through, all with 20 lb db's or BW:
Db push press
Push Ups
RDL w/bent over row
walking lunge (15 each leg)
v-ups
Took me about 30 minutes - good stuff! I was sore from the pushups, hadn't done those in a while.
This morning I did:
treadmill - 10 minute run, 12 minutes intervals (1 min @ 8 mph, 1 min @ 5 mph) then walked for 10 minutes. Got good and sweaty!
Good news: Got my Polar F6! I have been wearing it a lot and trying to get a feel for how many calories I burn at rest. I will probably wear it more next week when I get back into my normal routine.
So because my parents hosted my mom's entire extended family at their house on Christmas day, I got a lot of NEAT in! It was a lot of working setting up everything and cleaning and making food for 40 people. But I ate a lot - had lots of treats for two days. I am going to try to do better today and tomorrow but not stress too much about it and enjoy the weekend with DH before its back to work on Monday and back to tracking and kicking ass in workouts
Sounds like you had a great Christmas, along with a couple nice workouts. How fun to be able to work out with your brother! Fun. Enjoy your weekend for sure!

Yeah it was a nice weekend - I made up for it today...maybe too much!
Great news - my new nephew was FINALLY born yesterday! We went to see him in all his 9 lb 2 oz glory He is a big baby! Got to hold him for a bit but am excited to see him in a week or so when he isn't sleeping!
Other great news: I weighed myself (cause I like torture) on Saturday after my week of eating and exercise hiatus and low and behold not a single pound gained. I was expecting at least a few water lb's at least. Mystery....but I'll take it!
Well I hit it hard tonight. Here is what I did:
Superset:
Deadlift
w/u 15 x 45
10 x 95
10 x 135
10 x 135 - WOW can tell I haven't done these for over a week
Flat bench press
10 x 65
10 x 65
10 x 65
Superset:
Bulgarian Split Squat
8 x 35's
8 x 35's
8 x 35's
underhand grip lat pulldown:
10 x 85
10 x 85
10 x 85
Superset:
RDL w/ bent over row:
10 x 65
10 x 65
10 x 65
hanging leg raise:
12 x BW
12 x BW
12 x BW
Intervals:
1 min @ 5 mph, 1 min @ 8 mph 6x
walked 10 minutes
Okay I need some opinions. I wore my new HR monitor for this workout. Took about 56 or so minutes. It says 557 calories burned, 154 average. Don't get me wrong, I worked hard and am beat but I am skeptical. Ideas? Should I figure a certain percentage off or margin of error?
I am off to sign up for Shutterfly for picture posting for the challenge. Pictures due in a week - yikes!
HR monitor - I wish I had an answer - maybe see what some people who have HR monitors and a bugg have found as comparision?
Either way, nice workout!
Thanks Bytsi - I was surprised to not gain anything either. I expected it.
I am going to follow along in the Gowear Fit thread and see if anyone else can compare the two. I really want a Gowear, but can't justify it right now.

Tuesday:
cardio day
treadmill: 4 miles, ran 3.5 and walked the rest. About 45 minutes.
Shoveling: about 27 minutes - wore the HR monitor and it said I burned about 160 cals. There wasn't much snow and it was really fluffy, so it wasn't as much work as it has been in previous snows.
They were having yet another customer appreciation day at the gym last night. There were a bunch of vendors/booths and they were serving PIZZA and SANDWICHES....seriously. I walked in and was overwhelmed by the smell. I just hate smelling food when I am working out. It does not make me hungry one bit!
Tonight is of course New Years Eve. I am going to hit the gym after work hardcore then we are going to a friends house for the festivities. I am going to try to eat reasonably, but I can't guarantee I am going to drink reasonably. One last hurrah before the challenge, right? I plan on going to the gym tomorrow to do some treadmill walking to attempt to avert the damage somewhat....if I feel up to it that is

Crazy! You would think a gym would serve HEALTHY food!!
Just popping by to spread some good wishes for the New Year. May the new year bring with it some of what you wish for.
I'm thinking that maybe the gyms really want to help people gain a few over the holidays, so people renew their memberships? Sounds silly, but you never know. It could also be that they don't know how to show appreciation without food? That seems to be a society thing really. You have something to celebrate at almost every company... they cater lunch.
Sounds like your gym is just like everyone else's--pushing the food so you'll have to come to the gym more often . Happy New Year and congratulations on the new nephew!
You made me think of this morning at my house...DH and I worked last night b/c we were having a NYE "party" at the ski area. So obviously we didn't drink or anything--but this morning I stumbled downstairs and told Shawn that I had a hangover, just being silly meaning I felt horrible and was really tired. He completely froze--I could see the wheels turning--he was shocked! I wasn't sure if he was mad that I would overdo it, or mad that he somehow missed it! So hopefully you're feeling well this morning...

Yeah I can't figure it out...but from what I read about other people's gyms here is seems it happens elsewhere, too.

I can't either...so I am wondering about it. I guess its very possible, but I don't want to use that for calorie purposes just in case it way off.
And thanks - I am working on the strength I have to wonder if I did a bulk someday what would happen. My brother is the strongest on his college hockey team so I know the genes are good. he works hard, but to be the strongest of a group of athletes is pretty cool. So he is my inspiration! I like to tell him my new PR's, but I think its hard for him to be impressed since he doesn't know any other girls who lift like me.

Thanks Anne! Same to you! I agree with you about food being a part of every celebration. It was very apparent over the holidays yet again this year at work that our clients gift with food. I got back from my week off and there were still tons of treats. I was hoping it would all be gone but I didn't even want any of it so I guess it didn't matter. I think the novelty of free candy wears off and it just doesn't taste that good anymore.

Thanks Karen - happy new year to you! I agree - people love free stuff! I would rather get stuff that actually relates to fitness rather then pizza. Maybe protein powder samples? Water bottles? I think they could still give stuff away and please people without food.

That's funny! Well I didn't feel that greatest yesterday to say the least, but that's about what I expected. I didn't eat all that much but didn't move a whole lot either. Very bloated still today from all the beer. Much better today!
Well I have two workouts to report:
Wednesday Dec. 31
I was short on time so decided to work out at home.
Squat
15 x 45 - warm up
10 x 95
10 x 105
10 x 105
DB bent over row:
10 x 25's
10 x 25's
10 x 25's
Superset:
one legged glute bridge
10 x BW
10 x BW
10 x BW
DB push press:
10 x 30's
10 x 30's
10 x 30's
Superset:
DB Static Lunge
12 x 25's
12 x 25's
12 x 25's
prone jacknife:
12 x BW
12 x BW
12x BW
Then I did a segment from Cathe Friedrich's Kick Max called Blast Challenge - its 15 minutes of jumping jacks, squat jumps, lunge jumps, etc. Its really hard!
So for this workout it took me about 49 minutes total and the HR monitor said I burned 448 cals, average 151.
Today, Friday Jan 2nd:
Superset:
Deadlift
w/u 15 x 45
10 x 95
10 x 135
10 x 135
Flat bench press
10 x 65
10 x 65
10 x 65
Superset:
Bulgarian Split Squat
10 x 35's
10 x 35's
10 x 35's
underhand grip lat pulldown:
10 x 90
10 x 90
10 x 85
Superset:
RDL w/ bent over row:
10 x 65
10 x 65
10 x 65
crunch w/plates:
12 x 20#
12 x 20#
12 x 20#
I am beat! I can tell my nutirion has been off the past two days. Between the alcohol and what I ate yesterday I was not properly "fueled".
I am already annoyed at the increase in people at the gym. I had my deadlifts set up at a power rack and left to do a set of bench. By the time I got back a girl had taken the whole thing apart and set herself up to do squats. I was only away from it for about 30 seconds! I always make sure I ask to see if anyone is using it if it looks set up with weight on the bar. Since she had already put her wieght on I said go ahead, and had to go find another place to do deadlifts. She was nice, so I wasn't mad, but I can tell its only going to get worse! Usually I am safe in the wieghtroom not having to wait for anything cause most people ther are dudes doing bicep curls or tricep ext's or shrugs. What is up with shrugs? I enjoy men with necks.

ROFLOL!!!! I agree!
I have ended up taking more of a rest week-and-a-half, rather than a rest week, but I don't feel too excited about getting back in there at this point anyway for that reason. Maybe Monday people will have run out of steam? (Not that I don't wish them well, I just wish them to work out at a different time!!!)
Hey! I just wanted to wish you a (belated) Happy New Year!
I totally feel you re: the crowded gym. It will be my first workout back tonight and I am not looking forward to it (well, the workout, yes, but the crowds, no )

i do like the library, but i also like the gym my new log!
The crowds of noobs are SO annoying! Can't get any cardio equipment, they don't clean up their plates when they're done lifting, and they just plain crowd the place. Bleh! My only solace is that I can work out when they're not as busy since I'm unemployed
They'll be gone soon... I feel bad in some ways, but it's just a fact.
