Bree, very nice progress, I see LOTS of changes also! Pretty much everywhere--losing where it counts and gaining nice definition all over. GREAT JOB! (and btw, you're brave...) I still want to know which stage gives you the tan...

Thanks! My legs are my least favorite....
I'm very curious to see how you like NROL because I'm going back and forth between that and Power Training for my next endeavor.

I was interested in Power Training as well. Might be after this?

I will remember that in March. Actually I have no allegiance in the WCHA, more of a dislike for certain teams. I will be following the MIAC much more closely this year.

Thanks Celeste! Oh man, I got really tan after my rest week at the lake. I tan pretty easily but turn white even easier! So it is fading fast. I love the sun - probably a little too much.
Now for the workout....
Bree's very first NROL - guess the name of this log should change?
NROL Break In A1
Squat:
15 x 85
15 x 85
Superset:
Static Lunge
15 x 65
15 x 65
Two pt dumbbell row with elbow out
15 x 20
15 x 20
Superset:
Push Up
15 x BW w/feet on step
15 x BW w/feet on step
swiss ball crunch
15 x 10
20 x 10 - wow can tell I haven't done ANY abs in a long time.
Cardio: run two miles
Overall I liked this workout. It seemed to go by so fast after doing 4 sets of 15 in Stage 7 of NROL4W instead of just 2 sets in this workout. This only took me about 25 minutes so I felt the need to do more. I wasn't feeling HIIT and need to ease back into it so I just went running/jogging. Man I can tell I haven't done that in a long time! I felt like a turtle even though my heart rate was high the entire time.
I have about 300 cals left after dinner. Trying to decide if I should be good and have a protein shake or be bad and have a beer?

Mmmm beer. Actually I was good and had a diet coke and some PB2 instead of the shake. Wasn't that hungry. It was hard to resist the beer though when my husband was sitting next to me drinking Summit EPA. I will have to give in and have some tonight though

Thanks I am getting better. I used to have a glass of wine or a beer with dinner almost each night. I have been better about cutting that out during the week, just workin on the same for the weekend.
So far today we cleaned the whole house and I did workout B of the break in. Busy little Saturday....going to go to Costco maybe Home Depot don't know if there will be enough time Then tonight we are going out to my inlaws. My BIL is making his wings. I am not a huge wing fan so I will be able to control myself. I think its because I worked at a BWW's in college. Serving drunk dudes beer and cleaning up their chicken bones will do that to ya.
NROL Break in B1
Deadlift:
8 x 65 warmup
15 x 85
15 x 85 - tweaked my back a little again. Didn't go that high because of it.
Alt Sets:
Step - up:
15 x 15's
15 x 15's - really focused on from and slowed it down.
dumbbell one arm shoulder press:
15 x 20's
15 x 20's - this is way harder then two arms at a time I think because there is less momentum?
Alt Sets:
Neg. Chin up (subbed for close grip lat pulldown)
2 x BW
2 x BW - reallly want to be able to do chinups so I am still working on these
reverse crunch:
20 x BW
20 x BW
I like the fact that this workout doesn't take too long. I feel like I am choosing challenging enough weights to still get a good sweat going though. I have this thing in my head that if it takes less then 30 minutes I should be doing something more. Trying to get out of that mindset!
So the though crossed my mind to bike to my in-laws house. They live in what you would call an ex-urb about 25 miles away. I am guessing it would take me about two hours. The best part of all is that there is a trail that takes you most of the way so I would't be on the road for ver long. The farthest I have biked lately is 15 so I am debating it. Its a perfect day for it! hmmmmm......

This weekend was interesting. Sunday I pretty much did a lot of nothing except watching sports on TV. Lazy was I. Didn't eat the greatest either. Seems to happen when football season rolls around. My husband likes to make "football" food.
Wow what a freakin' busy day today! This whole week will be nuts at work - big project going out on Friday. Going to try and get caught up around here.
Just got back from an hour bike ride. Heart rate was high most of the way. It wasn't as enjoyable as I hoped it would be. My nose was like a sieve still from my cold and the cold weather. It only got into the low 60's today. I am sure I looked like a fool when I kept tipping my head back like I was looking up at the sky for something while trying to let it drain - very gross I know, but what do ya do? So I had trouble breathing.
I am also annoyed that this upcoming weekend we are going to visit some in-laws way out of town and I won't be able to get my usual Saturday lift in. It might have to wait until Sunday when we get back.
Also, another thing that is making me feel stabby lately is politics. I won't get into it here, but I need an outlet for my anger seriously. All I will say is if you aren't outraged, you aren't paying attention.

I am right there with you on that! I won't go into it either, but my BF and I yell about it all the time, and we agree on things! It's just so frustrating and, well, it makes me mad!
Anyway, how are you liking NROL? What plan are you following? I started out following fatloss, but quickly got burnt out on all the high reps/low weights, so next week I'm going to move into hypertrophy. It looks like it could be interesting. I'm looking forward to it.

Hey Bree - how long do you plan to do the break-in workouts, and then what are you moving to? I am planning to move to Fat Loss 1, just can't decide how long to stay in the break-in. Was the full break in period 1 month? It's definitely a challenging workout if you push hard, so I don't consider it too easy, just excited to move to the next step!
Thanks! Karla (I'll check back for response!)

Well, I'm outraged, but at a different set of politicians! We're headed to our third federal election in four years.

Sigh. Its going to be a long two more months!
So far I like NROL. I am starting with the eternal beginner. So break in for now. I agree - the high reps are getting a little tired. I really want to focus on fat loss though for now, and I know I won't be getting much stronger at the deficit I am shooting for so i can't wait to get back to strength!

Hey Karla - I am not sure how long I will do them. I plan on doing at least 4 of each and see how I feel after that. I will move onto Fat Loss 1 after this also. I am definitely tired after today's workout!

Sorry to hear that Anne. So we aren't alone! I have read some blogs of people who are actually considering moving to Canada if this election goes against what they want. Hey, for me Manitoba isn't that far away
Ok I am not feeling good! Right when I was getting my workout clothes on I got this really bad stomach ache and now after my workout still quite pukey. I took a vitamin E pill today - more then I normally take. Do you think that could be it? Is there such a thing as too much?
NROL Break In A2
Squat:
15 x 85
15 x 85 - same. Bleh. I really don't think I can do more with good form for 15 reps. Not yet anyway.
Superset:
Static Lunge
15 x 65
15 x 65 - see above
Two pt dumbbell row with elbow out
15 x 25 - decided I need to start pushing myself harder on back
15 x 25
Superset:
Push Up
15 x BW w/feet on step
15 x BW w/feet on step
swiss ball crunch
15 x 10
20 x 10
Hopefully this pukeyness goes away soon.
Good thing from today: Even though its crunch time at work, we got a new server today (meaning not a lot of work goes on because all of the files were in-accessable) and the dude set us all up with remote desktop so I will be able to work from home now. Sweetness.
