Week 2 starts

5x5 120 sec rest
front squats - 155 (+20) for all sets

circuits 3x8 60 sec rest
incline db bench - 70's (+10) all sets
bb romanian deads to rows - 155 (+20) all sets
cable PNF - 30 (+5) all sets

Notes: Bill Hartman is a genius and sadist. Since I've started getting into some real weight, those 60 sec rests on the circuits are killer. I'm sweating up a storm and really getting the heart rate up. The front squats weren't too bad, I can definitely up the weights next time.

I really like the mix between 5 x 5 and circuit training. It has the potential to be lethal!

Cardio today.

20 mins of HIIT. I must've been feeling really good or really stupid when I tried this one.
Burpees..... 30 sec. all out with 1 min active recovery. The 30 sec turned out to be 15 burpees as fast as I could. I came so close to puking several times that it wasn't even funny.
10 mins stretching and cool down.

Notes: Tonight was the first time I've come close to cheating on my "diet". I was craving carbs. But I didn't succumb. Good for me! It must have been this cardio session and the walk I took with the kids today. They really wore me out today.

Hey, that's 2 seconds per burpee -- that's like Ross Enamait tempo. You're just begging for pukage there.

Yeah, you are probably crazy. Congratulations on resisting the carbs, it can be so tempting sometimes. Say, can I borrow some of that will power?

5x5 120 sec rest
Chins - BW+30 (+5) all sets

circuits of 3x8 60 sec rest
db step-up - 35's (+6)
db squat to press - 45's (+5)
db rows - 75's (+5)

10 mins of stretching and cool down

Notes: Still able to increase weights and that feels good. The chins actually went fairly easy tonight which is surprising considering I'm currently whittling down my daily carbs to nothing but veggies. Which brings me to my next point: the "diet". I've altered my diet to more TNT than what Bill Hartman suggested. I'm still eating a small handful of blueberries in the morning but I've started skipping the apple mid morning in favor of cucumbers and cottage cheese. I've also started adding broccoli and cauliflower at lunch and instead of milk for the mid afternoon snack I've went to a thick slice of Colby cheese and another hard boiled egg. I've also started drinking a PWO of nothing but low carb protein powder and water.
I'm trying to get my glycogen stores way down in order to incinerate the fat.
I swear, I had about 4-5 servings of veggies tonight at dinner along with a hamburger patty sans the bread.

Cardio today.

20 mins of HIIT jumping rope. Not enough time today for stretching.

When you are doing the jump rope are you singing the little school-yard rhymes in your head as you do so?

Nope, too out of breath!

I was shocked at how much energy jump roping took. I assumed my otherwise good conditioning would make it easy. Ha!

Yep, it's crazy if you're not used to it. Now I understand why boxers do it.

5x5 120 sec rest
front squats - 185 (+30) for all sets

circuits 3x8 60 sec rest
incline db bench - 70's (no increase) all sets
bb romanian deads to rows - 185 (+30) all sets
cable PNF - 35 (+5) all sets

10 mins of stretching and cool down.

Notes:
Really good, hard workout tonight. I've almost got to the point where I can bend over and put my palms flat on the ground. I figure another week or two and I'll have it. I can put the balls of my hands flat, about 1/4 inch to go. I'm also increasing my splits distance. I've been increasing by inches weekly.
Cutting down my blueberry intake in the morning to a very few. Only other fruit is some pineapple in my salsa in the evening. I'm actually feeling REALLY good despite lowering my carb intake, but that may be because I'm eating quite a bit of veggies.
I got back into my waist size 32 jeans today. Felt really good and surprising. Haven't been able to get them on for damn near a year.
By my judgment (and, of course, I'm my own worse critic) in the mirror, I'm looking much, much better. The top abs are starting to come back and the lower gut is definitely shrinking.

Nice progress there!

I usually feel good when I do low carb, too, without the low-energy adjustment period that other people talk about. I guess it agrees with some of us. Keeping the veggies (and fiber) up is a good way to go.

Amazing work Terry! Congratulations on getting back into the jeans and on the flexibility improvements. I also agree with the energy and feeling better on a low-carb plan. I had an adjustment period the first time way back but ever since I can make the transition in and out with no problems.

Yesterday and today were "off" days but I usually get some good calorie burning in my job anyway. Tomorrow I will start week 3 of Bill's fat shedding workout.

Remember how I shared that I cinched up the belt a notch? Well, this morning I put it in that same notch and it seemed pretty loose?! I snugged it up yet another notch and I'll be darned! It was just fine. Not sure how I'm shedding this quickly but I'm not going to question it, I'm going to enjoy it.

Tonight was really hard. My wife and I always enjoy a "cheat" meal on Friday nights. I wondered how I'd be able to hold off on the cheat food. I'm proud to say that I didn't crack! I did have a Subway steak sub with LOTS of veggies, however when I got home I scrapped everything off the bread and ate it. Problem solved. No cookies, not candy! I'm so proud of myself. I feel so good and can't believe how well I'm doing with this TNT diet. I'm discovering a whole new joy for vegetables. It used to be "ugh, another vegetable?!" but now I look forward to them. I've gone over the edge! ha!

Terry, I am finally getting a chance to catch up here. Nice report on the TNT experience. I know many people seem to be doing really good on the plan including JP recently. I fear it because I bonk out so hard without my carbs. It is nice to hear how you are managing it.
