Sally, you always make me laugh! I gotta remember not to take a drink of anything before I read your posts, or else I'll snort it ... Have a great weekend too - and I know you'll stick with your plan while you're away.
Today - cardio on the stairmaster - 30 min, avg HR 145-150. Not exactly low-intensity, but no HIIT either...
Sore, but... not as bad as it could be
I ate way too much SALT yesterday (I think I could easily be a beef-jerky addict), and the scale was up (AGAIN!!!). So today - no salty foods (duh!). Gotta ration that jerky . Plus TTOTM is due soon (when? hmmmm... anytime in the next 3-4 days?).
Tomorrow is "day off" but I'll be pretty active for much of the day, just not an official workout... then plan for Sunday is stage 3 B1...
We're going out to dinner Sat night AND to a "mother's day brunch buffet" on Sunday... YIKES!
Must plan ahead... must behave... most NOT say "but it looks goooooood..." and convince myself that it's ok to be a little piggy!

WOW!! How cool that you and Ms Jane are so close. Can't wait to hear about that first meeting. Nice job on the BW matrix by the way. I love the numb feeling and DOMs feeling.

Bytsi,
I can't remember if the book says to do this or not??? But, are you taking another week break between Stage 2 and 3? I feel like I JUST took a break and don't really want to take another one right now....just wondering if you were?

Hey Nik - not taking a break yet - I figure every 6-10 weeks is PLENTY for breaks... I'll have to reread that part, but definitely not after every 3!
I got a crackberry (my first) and I've become obsessed with learning the damn thing! I have 30 days to decide if I keep it, my first "smart" phone (not sure if it's THAT smart though!)...
Other than that - I had to work this morning, but DH and DS ran a race (DS clocked an 8:40 1-mile run - not bad for a little guy!)...
Then our karate school's ribbon-cutting and grand opening were this afternoon. For a day off, I'm wiped out! We did demos about 5 times (?) plus a class (to show what they would look like) AND sensei had me be his crash-test dummy (DUMMY is the key here) for women's self defense, so I had to be attacked by him 3 times (did I mention he's 6'4" and at least 240#?). I'm SO tired...
We went out to dinner, so I was very well-behaved all day, but not sure what I did macro/cal for dinner... I had one slice of bread (I was starving) and a wonderful avocado and crabmeat salad (on lettuce, not the "mayo" kind of salad). Then I had seafood over pasta but I skipped the pasta part... So far so good, but then the four of us at dinner split a bunch of desserts...
I don't feel stuffed, so probably not too much damage done. TTOTM started today, so I'm hoping to shed that stupid water-weight (and chocolate craving)!!
Headache too... so I'm going to bed... planning a workout on mother's day (it's MY day, right?). Happy mom's day to everyone who has a mom or is a mom!

Oh crud... I forgot it was Mother's day. I gotta call my Mom.
I am so grateful that my TOM doesn't affect my eating and cravings. I know that I generally weight less the week after so I guess it does affect water retention but it isn't so much that I feel differently.

Happy mother's day! My kids BAKED cookies for me. Full-fat sugar-filled iced cookies. So proud of themselves for not fighting too much, and even cleaned up afterwards (wow!). How do you say no to cookies?????
Had an ok workout this morning (will post below), then met my parents for mom's day brunch buffet. Had a reservation, but it was packed and they said 30 min. wait WITH reservation... my dad had a COW, we stormed out, ended up at a different (but very nice) buffet. I shoulda / coulda behaved better... but I suppose it could've been worse too. I'm gonna have a greek yogurt for dinner cuz I was a bit of a piggy earlier LOL... Tried to stick to mostly protein and salad, but had a bit of sweet stuff too... no bagels or muffins or gorgeous fresh-cooked belgian waffles though... I think my overall kcals and macros are ok - just not spread out well.
-------------------------
Today - Stage 3 B1. Not loving this stage...
Bbell RDL / Row - 3x6 80#, 100#, 100#
Partial 1-leg squat - 3x6
Wide grip lat pulldown - 3x6 @ 130#
Back Extension - 3x12 bodyweight on roman chair
YTWL - 3x6 w 5# db's
Abs - done as superset of all 3 exercises
Cobra - 3x90 (good thing my workout buddy was cracking me up or I'd have quit out of boredom!
HIIT - stairmaster 8 sets of 30 seconds level 10 / 3 plus w/u and cooldown
Other thoughts... this workout just seems kinda boring and not challenging enough as a whole. Each individual exercise is mostly ok for challenge, but I think I might do real supersets instead of rest between each exercise... I don't need 105 seconds for most of them, and I just don't see where I could go higher in weight to increase intensity that way. I hadn't planned the HIIT, but I wasn't tired enough - makes me want to just repeat stage 1!!!

I wish I didn't crave food... sometimes I don't even realize that's why I got so hungry til TTOTM shows up and then I go "d'oh!"

That was quite a workout, Bytsi! You are so strong that I bet it's hard to go heavier to make it more challenging!! Me, in my wimpiness, would probably be dying at the end of that workout if I attempted the same weights!!
That was so sweet of your kids trying their hardest to make you a surprise. Do surprise cookies have calories?
I've been warding off the carb crave all day. I can't let myself have one little pretzel without wanting to eat the whole minibag. What's up with that?

That was so sweet of your kiddos to do some baking for you. And I agree with Pauline........holiday cookies have NO calories......LOL
I wouldn't worry about your calories today since you mentioned that overall they end up okay......Just start tomorrow with buckling down again!

It does seem a bit ... less, doesn't it? Although with the weight you throw around, it's more of a workout than I can do!
Hope your Mother's Day was happy, Byts.

Hey Bytsi -
Its going great! We are really having a lot of fun. It seems like we have learned so much in only a few weeks and I can hardly imagine where we'll be in a year.
Last Thursday, the instructor was demonstrating a point about a self-defense move we were working on and he showed how the correct arm position could lead into a lot of other stuff, including a take-down that he demonstrated. Everyone in the class was in awe and I know we were all thinking I want to learn that! He said we will learn it later on.
Your Mother's Day sounds wonderful, especially the clean-up after the cookies part!

Hey Pauline... I did finally eat one of the cookies - kinda banana-bread flavored - YUM! You would NOT be dying after my workout, as you are far from wimpy!!! I've got a LOT more pounds on my body than you do, which gives the ILLUSION of strength...
Carbs - you're like me... I'm better off eating none than a little bit of those delicious crunchy salty snacks. I can start off not-that-hungry and it leads to clearing out the cupboards if I get started

How was your mother's day Sally? Seems like you survived your weekend pretty well...
I just figured out that I was supposed to do the HIIT after 3B anyway (d'oh!!!), but still... I dunno... I may do like Jane and end up cutting out early when this workout comes back in stage 5. I may also add some pushups or SOMETHING to increase it a bit for now... or at least add more reps on stuff like the 1-leg squats where I can't increase weight.

I couldn't believe the kids cleaned up... although we did still find some evidence of their cooking ...
I love self-defense. I help teach our women's self defense classes and get used (abused) by sensei. Adding a pic from this weekend's open house (the only one I have, not a great shot) of Sensei lifting me up off the ground in a "bear hug" attack. I don't have pics of the ground attacks, so this is the best I can do for now. My arms have bruises from him slamming into me... but at the end of this one, I threw him, so it's all good
