Training or fighting fires?
I just had an odd thought that you were hoping for a fire.
Although I suspect in some areas there are always small fires and possibly even controlled burns, so maybe that's what you're thinking.

Fighting fires. I'm not *hoping* for the west to burn, but it does every year regardless and my agency sends crews. I went last year to Idaho for two weeks. It was pretty intense but lots of fun and I'm in much better shape for going this year. I can't believe I went on that trip last year with cardio only for preparation LOLOL...no wonder it took a month to recover.

aparently mom nature set off ~800 fires in No Cal using 5-6000 lightning strikes to do it. Unfortunately, I'm thinking there will be no shortage of opportunities this year.

If you promise to keep it within our circle here and don't let Susan know I told you, I'll let you all in on a little secret.
Susan was actually born Smokey T. Bear. She did her duty, proudly getting messages out to folks everywhere about fire prevention. One day, a few years ago, Smokey had a run in with an out-of-control Epilady. Yeah, you can only imagine the horror, both emotionally and follicularly, that she went through. After several years of therapy and the best plastic surgery money can buy, she's re-emerged, this time as a hairless humanoid. She tries to lead a normal life among us but the call of the fire gets to her. She must heed its call once a year or so out of respect for her past.
Now, remember: Pretend you know nothing. She's still rather sensitive about the subject. Whatever you do, do NOT slather yourself with honey while in her presence.

Got 25 minutes started on the elliptical then had to unplug for storms, got back on later for another 40 after the lightning was through. Looks like we're gonna have a flood around here, but we're on high ground so it's okay.

I've been mainly elliptical and one light upper body workout...plus clean clean clean the house Hopefully I can get more weights in this week sometime, cause it looks like I'll be "on the board" for fire duty before the end of the month, woot!

Thank you Mel!
Well, my weight sure popped back up just in time for the end of the challenge. I can move more water than the Hoover dam sometimes I think LOL. Not a consistent water drinker is my problem. Ah well.
I did do an elliptical workout today despite more or less collapsing and being a lazy bum after having a houseful yesterday.
Maybe the scale and tape will be kind for final pics and weight and measure tomorrow. If not, then there's the new challenge ahead to kick my butt in shape too!

Women's Challenge Final Results!!!
Today's the day.. And here it is:
Jan/July
Weight: 184.4/176.2 ...my lowest while on the challenge was 171.2
Neck: 15/14
Chest: 39/38
Bust: 42/39
Ribs: 38/35.5
Waist: 37.5/35.5
Hips: 41/39
So I've lost 11.5 inches and 8.2 pounds. I'm sure I've gained a good bit of muscle. I did not meet my weight loss goal to get into the 150's by this time but I do feel that I've more than met my fitness goal to prepare for my western fire trip. I feel rarin' to go and as ready as possible fitness-wise for that!! That was the more important thing so I'm glad I can check it off. I will make the remaining fat loss my primary goal for the next challenge. Oh yeah, and to look good nekkid LOL Can't forget my ego and vanity and all that
Here's the pics:
