Post Anna's Training & Nutrition Log - I'm back!!!!!!

Hi JP Fitness!

It has been a long time since I have been active on here!! Well, I am now living in sunny California for a while and about to take full advantage of the hiking and the mountains here!

I used to train immensely, mostly powerlifting type of workouts (I love to lift heavy and be strong)! It has been about a year though since I have dieted daily and trained regularly. Not sure why I fell out of habit with workouts? I guess life and stress got the better part of me for a while.

Anyways, I'm back!!

My goal is to get leaned out like never before. I must keep up with those Hollywood people, LOL!

My profile photo is current and I look great now. But I my abs are not showing that well and I would like to see some cuts in my legs and upper body.

Today, I started tracking my calories on FitDay. It's been a while so I think it's best to track for a while to get back in order.

I will greatly appreciate any feedback!

I'm off to a jog for about 15 minutes on a semi-mountain terrain - mostly residential hills. Then I will walk fast for about a 1/2 hour and finish with a small hike (10-20 minutes).

Current stats: Weight 148-152 depending on the day. Height 5'8. Not sure about body fat. Have been training on and off for the last few weeks, but not consistent. Mostly hiking about once a week. Target weight: 130 (though I know that it does not matter much --I think my bodyfat must be in the 20% range... needs to be lower.

Wish me luck!!

Anna

Thank you for the good wishes! ;-)

Today's nutrition:
Calories: 1920
Fat: 84g (38%)
Carbs: 220g (44%)
Protein: 88g (18%)

Ouch! Can you tell I'm out of practice? ;-(

Well, I jogged and hiked/walked for about 45 min today, which is good. More working out and better dieting tomorrow.

Any suggestions on the %s for macros to lean out fast?

Welcome back, Anna. Sounds like you are still ever the over-achiever. Glad to have you back among us.

What kind of workout are you going to do? Since you live in that area, you should train with one of my friends who lives there whose planning on starting a boot camp. Or train at Cosgrove's place. You have so many options in CA, that's for sure.

Hi Jean-Paul! Great to be back!!

I'm in the outskirts of LA - love the country/mountain life better than the busy city. I'm close to the Thousand Oaks/Calabases area.

Let me know where your friends are and I'll try to connect with them for workouts. ;-)

Re workouts, I plan to do full body workouts with lower weight right now. My gym is a bit limited currently at home - I only have the bowflex dumbbells (up to 20 lb. each), a bench, jump ropes and mountains. I don't want to join a gym yet as I don't know where exactly in LA I want to live (right now sampling different areas).

If someone can give me an idea of a workout plan with just the dumbbells for now, that would be lovely. I'm out of practice so even 20 lb weights give me a great pump!! ;-)

Smiles!

Anna

Also, what should my caloric intake be like to lean out? And the %s of fats/carbs/protein?? Is 30% fat, 40% carbs and 30% protein ok? I am vegetarian and get my protein mostly only from soy milk, fish and whey.

:-)

Hi Anna

Welcome back. At the risk of sounding like a carnivore, I would pay more attention to protein intake (a bit harder on a veggie diet). Leaner is all doet so run alight calorie deficit, and you will do fine. From your previous time here, it is clear you are very focus and disciplined, so you should have no problem. I would focus more on calrie count rather than breakdown.

Good luck and we hope you will stick around longer this time

Cheers

Peter

Ok - 2 weeks have passed and I am very disappointed with myself. I have not worked out regularly like I wanted to. I have not been eating at consistent times. I have not been eating healthy always (sweet tooth).

My activities in the last 2 weeks have included about 4 hiking trips (30 min - 2 hours).

I have felt a bit sick 2x - something like the flu coming on, so I took it easy. I have been sleeping a lot.

Stress may be a contributor. I am new to CA and am trying to build business from scratch here. It's a ton of pressure and expenses are very high here.

Further, my stomach does not seem to like any food. In the morning I wake up with a flat tummy and from the afternoon onto the evening, I feel bloated all day long. My meals consist of oatmeal in the morning, then foods like sushi (california rolls), fish, vegetables, sometimes some bread, nuts, fruits etc. I eat overall pretty clean. Maybe I overeat? I have not been counting calories since 2 weeks ago. Sometimes I only eat 3 times per day.

I think I need to eat smaller meals more times per day and stay consistent and see what happens. I am changing my diet around too much (one day 3 meals, another 7 meals - 1200- 2000+ calories per day).

Any motivation would be good. I have done this before and I know just what to do I feel, but the discipline is harder this time. Like with developing any new habit, it takes time.

Further, I posted about the Lemonade Diet

Lemonade Diet - good or should I not even think about it?

Any feedback would be great!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

Anna

PS So far today my food has been:

Breakfast (11 a.m.) - 1/2 cup or so of granola mix with a bit of soymilk, 3 tangerines or so
Lunch (2ish p.m.) - 8 california rolls (sushi), green tea, some edamame
Post lunch (4 p.m.) - Honey latte at starbucks with 3 Madeleines cookies

Hi Anna!

Just looking at your food today, you've had:

oats (mmm), soy, sugar
rice (sugar), tea (with sugar?), soy
coffee & milk with sugar and more sugar in the cookies.

I have a feeling you might be eating more sugar than you realize. As for the bloating - try cutting out the soy & see how it goes. It seems that soy causes bloating in a lot of people.

Wow! Time sure flyes! Ok I am back to training. I have trained sporadically since my last post 3.5 months ago, but now I feel compelled to really make it happen!!

I have decided to train 4-5 times per week.

2 days ago I went for a jog interchanged with fast walk. 1 hour workout. 468 cals burned. 143 heart rate average - got it up to 180 at times.

Yesterday I did not work out.

Today:
Cardio - 30 min, 164 cals burned, 120 heart rate average.
Squats 3 sets 8-12 with weight from 125 to 55 lbs (going downwards).
Deadlifts with 55 lbs - 3 sets of ~10 reps.

I was sweating a lot during my workouts!! And my heart rate was up to 160 during lifts.

I think that I may need to increase endurance... I guess slowly.

Food today:
Breakfast: Oats with very little bit of honey, soy milk, tea. Seperately: Bee Pollen.
Lunch: Croissant with jelly (I know, I know!!), tea (tea always with stevia)
Plum, 3 dates (somewhere before workout)
Dinner: Pasta made of whole wheat pasta, tomato sauce and lots of shrimp & salad with a little too much ceasar dressing. Green tea.

I feel very full today. This is my high carb day.

For the last 2 days, my carbs were low (not more than 150g/day - wait that's too high!). LOL.

Clearly I have some work to do in getting my diet even cleaner!!

Is it ok that my heart rate gets up to 180 pretty easily?

My goal is to drop weight/fat as much as possible in the short term (2 weeks - have an even then that I need to look as trim for as possible). And long term to get a lot more cut and get more strength. I used to be strong, but not as much any more.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Anna

Yes, I think I am getting more sugar than I need, but I love sugar!! I will have to be good and cut the sugar slowly to a bare minimum!!

I'm sporadic at best even though I know better too. Heh, sometimes fitness just is not the priority you thought it was.

Welcome back, again.

Thank you for all the replies! Definitely helpful knowing there are others out there going through the same things.

Yesterday I ate probably too much pasta - but it was wish shrimp and healthy.

Did not work out yesterday.

Today:
Jog/walk/run. 29 min, 195 cals burned, 137 BMP heart rate
Now will do one set of 15 reps with moderate weight for: Chest (bench, flyes), biceps (curls), shoulder press, arnolds, abs.

Got a meeting to run to so need to hurry it up!! Low carbs today:

Oatmeal - plain with little soymilk cinnamon, 1 teaspoon honey
2 plums
2 dates prior to workout
Rest of day will be protein and salads

Oh and I'm dancing later for more cardio - professional style so it will get me a great sweat!

I have been in the gym on average 4 days a week for the last 2 months for 1-2 hour per day. I'm working out hard, my tummy is flat when I eat clean, feel like my shoulders are getting bigger and back (want a V really badly).

I've tracked my macros on fitday on and off. Cals are around 1300 on average per day. I've changed the diet and the workouts to keep my body going.

The only problem is that I am sleeping a lot (10 hrs/day) and that I at times feel like I am almost sick. I got sick last week and right now my throat hurts... Maybe it's the change in weather? But then again I'm in FL!! LOL.

My weight went down to 143.5 from ~150, but it's back at 150. I feel like I am losing fat though and looking better, so I'm not that concerned... But should it fluctuate that much within 2 weeks? When I got sick last week I ate not very clean and too much, but that should not have been responsible for 5-6 lbs.??

It's good to be in the gym! But I think I'm pushing my limits yet again as I feel my body just can't handle the load...

Any input would be very appreciated. ;-)
