They seem to have been more photogenic recently. Either that or they don't seem to care anymore when I'm trying to take a picture. After dinner they get four cat treats (tonight they also ate chicken) which they prefer to chase down the kitchen and dining room floors. One ended up under the mat, so I had to go and take it out. I'm sure he now thinks that the mat is a breeding place for cat treats. He'll get over it by tomorrow, but this has happened before. He went through a phase where he would crawl under the duvet on my bed (thankfully when I wasn't in it). He still likes to crawl under the cat covers on the living room furniture. He's definitely a nutcase.

Rest day/kind of (6/14)
As I said earlier I did do some walks around the pool (2x20 mins), but without the heart rate monitor, so we'll still call it a rest day. I'm not sure that I really push myself when I don't see what the heart rate is. There was no real damage because of the storm last night, although there was lots of garbage in the yard from the neighbours' trees. There's also a medium-sized branch (perhaps 4') hanging over the power line. I was going to take a shot at knocking it off with the pool skimmer, but then thought better of it. Okay, it was too short.
But the yard is pretty much back to normal, just a little messy where things like the boysenberry canes look a little beaten into the ground. Funny, but I was thinking on Friday that the yard was looking fairly nice and I should take some pictures. Now I think it needs a little time to recover.
So with no official cardio I aimed for 2150 today. All I haven't taken is the protein shake, and I'm truly hungry. It's a good thing I'm going to try getting to sleep soon!
Food for the day:
Total: 2164 (30% fat, 32% carbs, 36% protein)
Breakfast: 2 fried eggs on cracked wheat oatmeal bread, grapefruit (386)
AM Snack: almonds (164)
Lunch: whole wheat tortillas (2), mustard, smoked turkey, cheese, grapes (536)
PM Snack: soy nuts, protein shake (269)
Dinner: chicken breast with tomato/wine sauce and cheese, broccoli, butter, salad w/dressing (542)
Late Snack: peach yogurt sorbet, protein shake (267)

Rest day (6/15)
It was a reasonably quiet day today. We had friends over for lunch, so it kind of sucked up most of the day. In the end I avoided the drink I was planning to have, although I'm not sure a diet soda was a good substitute. I even had a cookie, kind of a shortbread thing with currants and lemon. Nice, but at 80 cals each I'll let my mother finish them up. Made the last flavour of the fruit/yogurt sorbet today - a mixed berry one with cassis, yogurt, and a mixed berry jam for a flavour boost. It turned out like a premium ice cream at 130 cals for a serving, albeit a small serving.
We're having slightly stormy weather again tonight. A little thunder and lightning, but very little rain. Hopefully not as bad as Friday night. I took a few minutes and cut a couple of branches off the pussy willow, as the poor thing was leaning again. Now it's off to bed so I can get up bright and early tomorrow.
Food for the day:
Total: 2158 (23% fat, 38% carbs, 36% protein)
Breakfast: lemon ginger pecan bread, jam, grapefruit (297)
AM Snack: almonds, protein shake (299)
Lunch: balsamic pork tenderloin, pasta, asparagus, berry yogurt sorbet, lemon currant cookie (569)
PM Snack: protein shake (180)
Dinner: balsamic pork tenderloin, pasta, asparagus, salad w/dressing (547)
Late Snack: berry yogurt sorbet, protein shake (265)

We have had a ton of bad weather here too! I know what you mean about the yard looking nice and then getting destroyed. I spent most of an afternoon planting a little garden along my garage and then that night we got a hailstorm and all my brand new hostas got holes in their leaves. They are surviving but still look sad. BTW, your food sounds delicious - makin me hungry!

Sounds like you had a restful weekend after the storm. We just had our long haired cat trimmed for the summer. He has to stay outside because both my son and I are allergic to him. We love him, though. Anyway, the groomer said they had a change in policy and can't trim cats anymore only shave them leaving a "mane" and a poof on the tail. So Christopher Robin looks like a sad, skinny lion at the moment. He doesn't care a bit. He just sits there looking all regal in his skinny nakedness.

That's a shame about the hostas, although at least with perennials there's always next year. I think I've picked a good spot (up the side of my garage) for a new vegetable patch. The tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini are all growing extremely well. The food, yep, it is delicious. If I'm lucky it will be at least a year and a half, maybe two, before I'm at my goal weight. I couldn't do it if I wasn't enjoying what I was eating.

Stage 3 - A2 (6/16)
I started with 10-mins on the treadmill and then did:
A: One-armed Dumbbell Snatch - 27.5e/6, 27.5e/6, 30e/6
B1: Dumbbell Single-leg Romanian Deadlift - 22e/6, 22e/6, 25e/6
B2: Barbell Bent-over Row - 80t/6, 80t/6, 85t/6
C1: Dumbbell Single-arm Overhead Squat - 10&5/6, 10&5/6, 15&7.5/6
C2: Dumbbell Incline Bench Press - 22e/6, 22e/6, 25e/6
D1: Plank - 90sec (45-degree), 35+35+20sec (on floor), 35+30+25 (on floor)
D2: Reverse Wood Chop (on floor) - 27.5t/6, 27.5t/6, 30t/6
Bodyweight Matrix (modified): 96 squats, 48 lunges (each leg)
HRM: 90mins, 675 cals, Max: 153 (86%), Avg: 123 (69%)
Well, I made a point to stick to the written rest periods. I think it did make it marginally easier to get through it today. Last week I had to take my glasses off because they kept getting sweat in them. Not that this hasn't happened before, but not to such a great extent. Although today I did take them off before I started, so who knows. I do know that by the time I was done I was completely spent.
I'm also thinking that if I'm going to continue doing my workouts in the late morning (as I did today) that I'll adjust my food a little. My post workout shake and fruit came at some time just after 1pm, so it was pretty close to lunch. I might really be better off combining the two meals, and maybe take a handful of nuts before starting. I can't workout after an egg breakfast, but was kind of looking for a morning snack by the time I started (11:30-ish). I'll have to think about that for Wednesday.

Me too!
Sounds like you had a great, tough workout. Nice job working your way up on the planks.

Yeah, it was a great workout.
I still really, really, hate planks though.

Hail !?!
Don't get me wrong, I've seen hail before. Just never this much, this fast. On the plus side, the pots on the patio are starting to look pretty good.
I can smile because it won't do much to the annuals, and the sun is already shining again. The cherries might be toast though. We'll have to wait and see.

So Paula got me thinking about doing this (although I've done it before). I'm sorry I didn't keep the information from the last time, so this time I'll put it into my log so I can find it if I do it again. First the data:
| Item | Time | Cals | Max HR | Avg HR | Max % | Avg % | | Making Breakfast | 0:15:00 | 60 | 111 | 94 | 62 | 53 | | Various | 2:30:00 | 439 | 122 | 81 | 69 | 46 | | Strength Training | 1:30:00 | 675 | 153 | 123 | 86 | 69 | | PWO/Various | 1:00:00 | 276 | 133 | 98 | 75 | 55 | | Lunch/Various | 0:30:00 | 87 | 115 | 82 | 65 | 46 | | Various | 1:00:00 | 174 | 131 | 81 | 74 | 46 | | Various/Swim | 1:00:00 | 231 | 118 | 88 | 66 | 49 | | Totals | 7:45:00 | 1942 |
|
|
|
|
I only stopped the first one at 15 mins since I remembered that I hadn't adjusted my weight. I do this usually on a Monday morning, but I'm thinking now I might as well do it on a Sunday when I record the so-called official weight for the week.
It's interesting to note that the hour right after my workout had a definite higher overall heart rate. Although some of that would be from right after I did wait about 5 minutes before remembering to restart the monitor. The experiment ends after my swim as the strap gets wet and it doesn't dry fast enough to keep it on under my clothing. The only time I specifically made a point to move more was in the 2-1/2 hour period in the morning. If I saw my heart rate go below 70 I made a point to get up and move around for a bit.

Sorry for the big quote...I missed this...what did you do? Did you wear your heartrate monitor all day? Or certain times...?
