Default Pushing my boundaries (and losing this fat!)

Hi,

I've been on a weight loss journey since Sept 20, when I joined weight watchers and last week I quit WW after reading NROL-W. This was my first week of completion and I have gained five pounds, but I am trying to not let that little fact stop me. I want to give this a protracted length of time, despite all my fears about giving up cardio and caloric restriction.

Stats 9-22-07
Before WW and cardio

Hight 5'6"
Weight 278
Bust - 56.5"
Waist - 47.75"
Hips - 55"
Left Thigh - 32.5"

1 wk post beginning NROL - W
Weight - 247 (it was 243  )
Bust - 50.75
Waist - 43
Hips - 53
Left Thigh - 29"
Calf - 17"

Workout A
Squat - oly bar 15x2
Pushups - (3 ft up plank style) 15x2
Row - 90# 15x2
Step ups - 15x2 each leg 30# total weight
swiss ball jack knife - 10x2

Workout B
Deadlift 15x2 oly bar
Dumb bell shoulder press 15x2 15# weights
Lat pull wide 15x2 70#
Lunge - 10x2 no weights (and i was dying! I think because it's having to lift my own bulk)
Swiss ball crunch 15x2 (far too easy. I read about the hands over the head approach with weights, and I am going to try that.)

Completed workout A twice and workout B once. I also did HIIT once

stationary bike
level 12 warm up 10 minutes
level 15 one minute
level 6 two minutes
x 5 sets
level 6 cool down 10 minutes

and post workouts the other two times, I just did level 10 for 15 minutes.

I like that I have a place to log what I do, so i can see an improvement just by scrolling this log. YAY! I'm glad this site exists.

Oh, and food. I've gotten pretty good at hitting 40/30/30 over this past week. I don't eat much meat (trying to avoid chicken, never eat any other land animals and I do eat fish), so I am doing two scoops of whey protein powder which is 220 kcal and 56 g of protein. That helps alot. I've also upped my milk intake with that. Skim organic (the other stuff freaks me out. I'm very skittish about animal products.) Off and on veggie for about 25 years.

I am doing green smoothies which I LOVE. my favorite recipe thus far is

2 c kale
1 apple
1 banana
1 lemon
1.5 c cherries

Hi Kathy! I have as far to go as you do.

This is one program to lose inches on. I don't know about weight.

Like some have said to me today, if I haven't stuck my face in cake all week, never mind about the additional weight .

ANd if your one week post is any indication, you've lost a lot of inches.

That was while on weight watchers and cardio. I'm curious to see what six months of this will do for me.

lol!

How long have you been weight training? I;m glad that there is someone else with a larger amt to lose. It seems everyone in the NROLW forum is already in pretty good shape.

There are plenty of folks with a good bit to loose. I came from 175lbs and more than 31% bf 2 years ago. This workout isn't so much about loosing weight though as it is about redistributing weight and getting rid of fat. 5 lbs is a big difference in 1 week. I suspect it has something to do with water as well as anything else unless you are just pigging out to the tune of 5K or more cals a day.

I got back into it around October. My transformation blog has the stats. I didn't even diet (unfortunately, I would be further...) And I have been trying to be consistent with workouts in the face of adversity

It is working. All I know is that this kind of fatloss sticks real good . If I am going to do it, I am going to do it for GOOD!

kfisherx, I want to work to have biceps like yours, much more than I care about the scale. I eventually want to be a healthy weight, but these past two weeks have reaffirmed who I was as a kid, and being strong and using my body to run jump and climb means so much more than fitting into a size six.

MuscleMom why did you pick 23 behind your name? I only ask because I'm a Robert Anton Wilson geek.

I work weekends so two rest days, if you call bathing, turning 200+ lb, lifting onto chairs and commodes from the bed and running up and down the halls answering lights rest days . My muscles feel rested, for the most part.

I also became ill this afternoon. I stayed to the end of my shift, but I remained nauseated and vomited numerous times throughout the afternoon and evening. I have no idea why I was sick, but, of course, my intake today was almost nil. I would have gone home, but we were very short staffed. We were 11 patients over grid.

Tomorrow I plan on workout B, and HIIT afterwards.

You know, it took me about two minutes of staring at your message to understand that 2=to. I kept thinking to myself 2?3? but thats 23! I'm as slow as they come.

Period gone, and I weigh 240. That's 7 pounds that has disappeared. I think it was all water weight. I'm sure more will come to visit as soon as I finish my workout today. It's just good seeing a downward trend.

I know that the scale doesn't matter as much as inches, but when you are morbidly obese, the scale does matter too.

My BMI is now 38.7. Officially no longer morbidly obese.
