Rack and gym sooo nice. Working out with boys, not so nice, VERY SLOWWWWW.
I bought both of Leigh''s books today, WOOHOOO!
I really like having everything in my basement. The boys were shocked they could lift the oly bar, made them feel like men LOL!
They are 13 and 10. My 7yo DD did a pullup. The boys were very jealous and thought it was a trick LOL!
ANywas didn't do any particular workout.
incline BP
Lat Pulldown
Seated Rows
swiss ball wall squats ( my boys had terrible form with a bar! Its a no go)
DB shoulder presses
Ball crunches
Finished workouts because everyone scattered ARRRGGGGHHHH!
I have to figure out a leg workout for them that the form won't be so bad!

LOL Julie, that rack is too big for this screen :P
I should take a pic an post it!
Okay, I am mostly thinking outloud, so don't shout me down LOL. I have to get my diet in order. It is obvious that I cannot just eyeball nothing. I hate to weigh, I hate to measure, but if I don't, I get nowhere.
So for all this time I have known what I need to do, Ijust can't seem to get my @$$ in gear with life and stuff inthe way. I need to make menus up ahead of time and I need to make them switch and swap.
I don't know about ya'll but I need flexibility. Perhaps that is just a pie in the sky idea. I know that what I wanted yesterday , is not necessarily ANYTHING I would want today. I did find that out. Some things just sound yucky on another day.
I am so very busy and this is the busy time of year for my business. I have to make this easy in where I know what to do and just go and do it without thinking too hard.
Obviously my diet got me here. I do tend to skip meals, I do tend to eat only 3 meals. maybe I am thinking, well Ididn't eat a snack so I can eat more? or I am so hungry there is no stopping me ? LOL, no I am not that bad. But definitely the age is a factor here. I just stopped eating junk during the week and moved a little more in my 30's and it came off, it was baby weight but it came off. Now, it won't budge like that. It is kinda disconcerting.

Okay, here's where I'll admit that I'm almost compulsively organized about this stuff at the moment. I'll share my freezer list with you (no laughing out there). It's a mix of things that require different levels of preparation. There are hamburgers, chili, gumbo, meat sauce, lasagna, pork souvlaki - all of which need no prep, just thaw and reheat and/or cook. There are raw meats (pork, chicken, lamb, beef) which generally require a little more prep, but maybe only pull out the day before and throw some marinade in. Or thaw overnight in the fridge and pour some sauce over them the next night to cook.
It does require some work to start off. I'll get 6 pounds of ground beef at Costco though and do one or two of hamburgers, chili, meat sauce, meat loaf bundles (uncooked) on the same day. I'm only cooking for two though which does make it generally easier. The vegetables of the moment are broccoli, snow peas, and cauliflower. However, in the freezer are mixed veg and a stir-fry veg mix. I do a lot of pre-cooking and/or divide and freeze for the raw stuff. The list seems insane at times, but I sit down every night and plan my meals/snacks for the next day. If nothing else, I know what I need to get out of the freezer to thaw out.
However it also means that I can choose from a variety of things to have tomorrow for dinner (haven't decided yet). There's rarely any spur of the moment cooking, mainly because I can't trust myself to keep on plan. The raw stuff is so I can change my tastes without worrying I've got things I don't want in the freezer. For example, the chicken thighs are meant for a curry dish (sauce also frozen), but I wanted to try a more southwestern dish in the crockpot last night (salsa, corn, pea beans-had them, chicken, chili powder). If I'd frozen the pre-made curry (which I used to do a lot more of) then I wouldn't have the option to change it.
Of course, the house is full of spices, dried beans, etc. and not quite so many canned goods (the corn here). So I didn't have to go anywhere to get ingredients. A well-stocked pantry is a good starting point as well.

this works for me most of the time. I have written out and calculated meals - dinners, lunches, that I know taste good and fit in my calories. Then I make a menu for the week based on those meals. Then I (and this is the important and difficult part) - stick to the menu. Just as if I was having meals delivered or had a chef cooking for me (or a wife) - I eat what is put in front of me. I had to learn to stop asking "what sounds good tonight?" or "what do I want?". A little dying to self. A little parenting of my self. YMMV. hth.

Kelly I totally know what you are saying. Sometimes I miss the days when I was heavy and I just thought, what do I feel like eating tonight and went and ate it. Of course, I was very unhappy with my looks and myself.
That is one thing I love about TNT. Of course, you have to pack food when you go places because they often have very little that fits the diet. But, if you feel like a steak at 5 pm, you can stop and pick one up and don't have to worry if you have enough cals left or whatever.

Kelly, I so hear you on the variety and flexibility! That is me to a "T!"
And Leah, I miss those days, too.

I hate having to think about what I want to make. Anne, your idea is very similar to what I do. I'm coming up with standard quick and healthy meals that I have all the ingredients on hand. That way, I can grab the stuff out of the freezer or pantry, and I'm all set to go! Planning ahead is a huge help!!

This is awesome. What a great role model. Plus it seems like weight lifting and teenage boys are naturally best friends a lot of the time. I remember a lot of kids from my high school spending hours after school in the weight room. Good for 'em. (I remember a few girls, too.)
