Today's workout:
4 sets of 8 reps w/ 45 seconds between sets; 2 min. rest between exercises - Dumbbell Deadlifts - 20 pounds each hand
- Swiss Ball Glute Raises - BW
- Dumbbell Shoulder Press - 15 pounds each
- Bent Over Rows - 55 lbs. on barbell
- Incline Dumbbell Press - 1 set w/ 15 in each & 3 sets w/ 20 in each
- Triceps Extension - 1 set w/ 20 & 3 sets w/ 15
- Seated Dumbbell Curls - 1 set w/ 15(e) & 3 sets w/ 10(e)
I followed these with a 15 min. walk on an incline at 60% HR as a cool down. I also did the Flexibility Repair work.
I've found the ultimate dessert for me. I measure out ff ricotta, toss in a ton of nutmeg and cinnamon and a splash of DaVinci's vanilla.......mix it together and it is total indulgence. Of course, if you have Teavana Rooibos Toffee to go with it, it,s just heaven in a dish!

Nice job on the workout!!! You should be very proud of yourself for not letting your knee be an excuse to not work out!
I've tried those ricotta desserts before - I don't know if it's a texture thing or what, but I just can't seem to like them! Glad you found something yummy!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Tracey. The only reason I can do the workout, though is because Leigh basically has eliminated the lower body focus.
After researching, I think I have an IT Band injury. The more and more I read the more convinced I am. It's usually associated w/ runners but can be caused by overload and working out on a hard surface. My workout room is in the basement on a cement floor that I have covered in heavy padding and my classroom is in the basement of the building and our flooring is cement covered with tile. I don't sit at my desk all day, so I'm sure that's why it hurts so much on my way home from school.
I'm afraid that I screwed it up trying to NROL4W with too much weights for my squats and lunges. I knew it was too heavy, but I felt wimpy compared to other's posting what they were doing.......STUPID, I know. It bothered me, but I just started taking Glucosamine and figured it was my bad knees again......mistake #2. I think I just aggrevated it more and now I'm to the point of a bad strain.
After talking to Leigh, I'm going to give it a week off of all lower body exertion (cardio) but still do the lifting and light walking since that doesn't aggrevate it. If it's still bothering me next Saturday, then I'll see a doctor.

Hope your knee feels better soon. It's such a pain to have to workout around an injury...makes you really appreciate when everything is in working condition!

Thanks so much! I'm hoping this doesn't set me back too long. I'm considering a trip to an "alternative" chiropractor that does deep muscle massage. I know it will hurt like hell, but maybe it will speed things along.

Today is a cardio day. I did an easy-peasy Leslie Sansone 2-mile walk and even that has my knee talking back to me.....grrrrrrrrr. Leigh also gave me some extra stretches to work on for the IT Band as that what we think I strained.
But.......the good news!!! I put a pair of size 10 pants on today that I could NOT wear after Christmas.........so, there is DEFINITE improvements being made even though my body is not cooperating. I've currently been wearing some 14's and some snuggly fitting 12's. So, seing that 10 again really made me feel awesome. I told Leigh that my first goal would be to get into size 8's by summer/June.......and I'm thinking that I will be able to get there.
I'm also trying to gear myself up to post pictures at my 1 month mark with Leigh if I see the results on the scale that I'm hoping for. I know.....the scale isn't the only measure of success.....but, I'm really hoping that those numbers along with my measurements and before/after pics will give me the confidence to post. That will be in about 2 weeks.....so, I still have time to make MORE improvements and decide if I'll post them!

Hey Stephanie--
I'm a "Peele-r" as well, also, like you and Tracey, banned from the scale. Let me tell you, it was a hindrance to my progress. Take the photos and run with 'em, because, sister, pictures do not lie (at least, not without photoshop), and neither do clothes.
The fact that you're doing this without a fully functional knee speaks volumes. Keep it up, girl!

Thanks, Tina!!! That scale is sooooooooo bad for me. If I see a loss, I celebrate with a treat. If I see a gain, I eat because "my diet isn't working anyway." Isn't that just messed up? Then it becomes this big circle because I end up in the same place over time with no losses showing anywhere!!!
I really didn't realize how much of a difference NOT seeing that number makes. Without looking, my mood has been stable, I've not cheated or felt the need to cheat since I'm not noticing gains, and I'm paying more attention to how my clothes fit instead of a number. That's huge for me.

Hi Stephanie!! I was starting to get into the same pattern with the scale (this after WEEKS of daily weighing/trending) and I'm totally with you that NOT seeing the number is working for me too! At this point, I'm just sending Leigh my weekly pictures and barely even peeking at them - no longer trying to compare them myself.
CONGRATS on the size 10's!!!!!! That's AWESOME!

Just figuring that out about yourself is amazing.
Hope your knee is better soon.

Thanks, Tracey!!!
I was excited because I bought these pants and another pair last year before school starting. I never got to wear them because when I tried them on one morning........they didn't fit. So, back in the closet they went with tags still on them. I pulled them out yesterday, just to see and OMG.....they zipped right up. Now, I won't lie about them being a little bit more snug than I wanted, but they are definitely wearable. I got to wear the other pair today. It was an awesome feeling.

You know what, Sally? You're right. Thanks for that realization. Knee is definitely on the mend.....so, I'll take your well wishes and run with them.....or skip.....or maybe just walk fast (gotta watch that knee, afterall).

Hey Stephanie. You're doing great! I'm also a PEELE-er, but so far I'm still allowed to weigh myself. So far it hasn't hindered my progress and I'm nearing my goal.
BTW, I bought not only the Almond Biscotti Black at Teavana, but the Rose Marzipan Black - which is amazing. Still haven't tried the Toffee, but it's on my list. I don't think I'm allowed any more tea unless I rent a storage unit to put all the bags and tins. My husband just rolls his eyes when he opens the cupboard where we keep the mugs and tea.

Okay.........I better do this before I chicken out. I don't have stats because next week is my first month of training with Leigh. I'll be sending her my weight and measurements then.......but, I figure I might as well post this now while I feel brave.
And, as Tracey has mentioned in her log......Leigh loves pictures! Thank-goodness!!!
So, even though I'm not allowed to weigh or measure myself, THIS is what is giving me the motivation to keep going. This is after only 3 weeks working with Leigh and about 2 of those weeks, I've been dealing with a bad knee.
Leigh emailed me today with soooooooooo much information and motivation that it really is going to keep me moving in the right direction. She really gets inside my head and tries to make sure I understand why I'm doing something now. But, she also let me know that what I'm doing now is NOT for life. How reassuring is that?
She also wants me to have a "no training" week this week. It's usually after 4 weeks of working with her, but because of my IT Band issues, she feels that perhaps this is the week to do it. So, I'll be on low calories all week w/ no workouts......just lots of walking and all the Flexibility/Repair work that I can handle. I really think that will help with my injury.
So........now you have it. My mug w/out the mug......LOL
