I'd even go for a 2-pack right now. Isn't it funny that we call it a 6-pack, but you pretty much have to give up drinking to get one? Hmmm...

Well, I've got a splitting headache today. I thought a bit of caffeine would quell it, but no such luck. It may be one of my "in bed by 8" nights, but I'm sore all over, so maybe that's what I need the most.

My friend/coworker who accompanied me to the track yesterday asked me if I wanted to go again after work. I was like, "Hell no! I don't want to run more than once a week. And I already worked out today."

Having a workout partner is fun, a little. Although yesterday I was ready to go at noon and she called a couple of times to move the time around and we didn't get to the track until 1:35. If it was just me, I could've had two days' workouts done in that time I spent waiting around.

Three cheers for self-reliance.

Another coworker of mine is doing the couch to 5k program. I had to convince her to go get fitted for new running shoes today. She was like, "I have some cheap Sketchers running shoes, those work fine. But my knee is KILLING me today." And I said, "Look, put them on the credit card if you have to. It's going to be a lot less expensive than going to the doctor when you get injured." I think she finally came around...of course she knows that if she did get injured in her old shoes, she'd never hear the end of it from me. Nothing like a little peer pressure used for good.

Is 7pm too early for bed? Why is the sun still shining?! I need those hotel drapes...

Sorry 'bout the headache - hope you wake up feeling better...

I once had a "newbie" friend who wanted to go running... she showed up in the thin-sole little fake-Keds style sneakers that would make my feet sore just walking in the grocery store! Needless to say, that "run" (using the term loosely) was a disaster, and running-shoe shopping was quickly moved to the top of the "to do" list.

It was funny to plan a wedding being a not-marriage-obsessed girl. It actually just made me really cranky. My sister would call me, shrieking on the phone: "You have to make a decision about the bridesmaids dresses! YOU HAVE TO MAKE A DECISION ABOUT THE BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES!" And I would just be like: "Uh, honestly, I don't care! Wear what you want!" Yes, sisterly fights would ensue. Fun times! Of course, the actual wedding was nice--because nobody dares say anything admiss to the blushing bride.

Sorry to hear today is a headachey kind of day!

Oh, and about the workout partner thing--I think it would be fun occasionally, but I don't think I'd like it as a regular thing. My husband and I once went to the gym together and I found his beloved face just got in the way of my squats and lunges. He said the same. I am a lone wolf in the weight room!

That alone is reason for your b/f to want to marry you.

I always say (in most cases, if not yours) weddings are all about the women - guys would rather skip that whole headache and get to the honeymoon part.

I hated planning my wedding. We really wanted to elope but I knew if we did my mother would never speak to me again. In retrospect...

Thanks, everyone! I'm feeling much better today. I actually get headaches fairly often - they go with my allergies and obnoxious sinus problems. I'm terrible about taking decongestants regularly. Just another reason to get that exercise done in the morning - my headaches usually hit in the afternoon. But I've outsmarted them!

I've already told my mom I plan on eloping someday. She seems fine with it. After we saw what my aunt went through planning for my cousin's wedding day....yikes. And two other cousins have already been married and divorced and they're only 2-3 years older than me. So um, yeah, no one needs to spend that much on a wedding. Now, a 15-year anniversary party, that's a better idea.

What if I am pontificating on whether you should marry lunges with squats in your next workout? Har har.

Hmm, another way we share some health stuff--I too have endless sinus/congestion troubles. It's awful.
I'm just going to tell you what I've done to make it better--some unsolicited advice, I know, so bear with me.
I went to see a naturopath about it and she advised me to cut all dairy from my diet. Ouch! But I did, except for yogurt (which apparently is less offensive, due to the good bacteria. And the occassional goat cheese is apparently okay.)
And I will say it has made a huggge difference. A few weeks after cutting it out, I suddenly realized I had a sense of smell. And the constant, ever-there pressure on my sinuses lifted. I haven't touched a decongestant since.
Now when I eat dairy I can feel that pressure settle again. It's weird.
Does it suck to go dairy-free? Absolutely. However, a recent fall off the wagon showed more clearly the benefits: I was craving cottage cheese like crazy. I love the stuff.
So I went and bought a big tub of it and ate it over the weekend.

Sunday night? I had a full-blown allergenic episode, complete with itchy eyes, stuffed nose, endless sneezing. Just like the good old days.

Anyway, I'm just saying if you haven't tried it yet or whatever, you might try a dairy-free month and see if if it helps.

[/unsolicited advice]

DH wanted to elope too....he wanted us to run away to Vegas and get married by an Elvis impersonator. If the thought of his grandmother KILLING him hadn't detered him, we would have gone for it!!!

Glad to hear you are feeling better today - I can sympathize with those stupid allergy/sinus headaches - they are the WORST!!! And lucky for us around here it's been a very mild winter and not many very cold spring nights, so the pollen count is through the ROOF!!

Actually, yes, I did go dairy-free just a few months ago to see if it would make a difference. I was dairy-free for at least 2 weeks after a bout with the stomach flu - couldn't even stand to think about milk for a while, and since I didn't have it in my system, I figured, why not? And then I was drawn back to cottage cheese and yogurt, etc., just for the ease of which I can get my protein count in for the day, and I don't remember feeling particularly better or worse with/without the dairy.

However, it's just becoming spring now, so I'll have to wait for my allergies to get really full-blown before I go around conducting serious experiments.

I also have a Neti pot, and that seems to help quite a bit if I do it regularly. Some days are worse than others...isn't it great trying to figure out your ailments?

Hrm, I have read about the dairy free thing in an Andrew Weil book, but I just don't know if I could do it. I have about 2-3 servings of dairy a day. I'd have to go to rice milk because there's a history of breast cancer in my family and I don't want to mess with soy. Allergies Suck! Especially since I didn't really have them until I was 20 or so and then all of a sudden I'm allergic to breathing and it hasn't gotten any better in nearly 10 years. Poo!
I do want to get a neti pot, though, I think it would really help if I did it at night before I go to bed. It used to freak me out, but I think I'd do almost anything at this point.
