Thanks Marty! It was freaking funny to watch.

Pauline, The boots are what got me going, and then I couldn't help but notice the rest.

I haven't posted a good thing of the day for a while, so here's one for yesterday. After dinner, bf and I took the dog for a nice long walk around 8pm. It was still warm outside, and just starting to get dark. It was a much better way to spend the evening than sitting on our asses in front of the TV, even if the Lakers were playing the Suns (yeah, so we're big basketball fans...). We don't that often enough.

Oh, and the park we walked through smelt like freshly mowed grass, usually a really bad thing for me and my allergies. But, for some reason, it didn't bother me at all. What makes it even better is that I haven't taken any allergy medication the over the last couple of days because I'm out and haven't made it to the store to get more. If I can make it through the season without meds, I'd be so happy!

Great about no allergy symptoms--I'm a fellow allergy sufferer, even get shots every other week, and I know how great it is to be symptom free!

BTW, your workouts are looking really great! I haven't done stage two yet so I can't really compare but the box jumps for example look horrendous!!!

Allergies are the worst! I hate not being able to breath. To add to it, I have allergy-induced asthma, which makes springtime unbearable. Whatever's making my symptoms small to non-existent is really making me happy. I hope it keeps up. I have to wonder if the change in my diet this year has anything to do with it. I'm eating about 85% clean as opposed to 0% clean for years.

I do the box jumps for my HIIT because I absolutely hate the idea of running or biking indoors. So, after reading about the box jumps in another log, I thought I'd give it a shot. It's horrendous is a surprisingly fun way. I've become really goal orriented lately, so it's a personal challenge for me to get even more jumps in 30s.

I really liked the stage 2/4 workouts. I think you'll enjoy them.

Can I just say that I love 5A! It's so much fun. That said, here's how last night went...
Chin Ups: 1 set 3 (if I can truely count the third. I had to put my foot down because my hands were slipping. I re-gripped and went back up) followed by 6 sets of 1 w/30 seconds rest between. So, some guy suggested that I use the assisted pull up machine. I told him that it didn't match my goals or the work I was trying to do. He just looked at me like I was crazy. My plan is to do as many in a row as possible, then as many as I can with 30s rest between each. No assistance. especially now that I can get up.
1 Arm DB snatch: 1 set 4 @ 30, 2 sets 4 @ 35, 1 set 4 @ 30 (+5 on the middle 2 sets)
Single-Leg DB Romanian: 4 sets 4 @ 35e (+5) I lost balance on my last set, 2nd leg and tweaked my back/side. Seems ok this morning.
BB Bent-Over Row: 1 set 4 @ 80, 3 sets 4 @ 85
DB Overhead Squat: 4 sets 4 w/12.5 up 25 down (+2.5--Next time more!)
Incline Bench Pess: 4 sets 4 @ 30e (my first set is always horrible! But afterwards, things come together.)
Plank: 2 @ 75s, 1 @ 60s. I was feeling whatever it is I did to my back/side during the deadlift, so, I kind of gave up on these.
Reverse Wood Chop: 1 set 4 @ 45lbs, 1 set 4 @ 40lbs. See note about planks. Gave up here too.

Body Weight Matrix. I still suck at this! But I did it. That's all I'm going to say about it.

That's awesome that you can do chin-ups on your own! I'm very impressed. I am still a user of the assisted pull-up machine.

It took a lot of hanging and kicking and border-line flailing to get to where I am with the chin ups. And even now, the last couple of sets are not pretty...But, it sure is fun!

I just thought I'd throw in a quick update here...I didn't make it to the gym over the long weekend. But I'm not stressing over it. We planned on going Sunday, but it was such a beautiful day that we went on a nice, long, 3 hour bike ride instead. By the time we got back, there was no way I was going to make it through a workout. That last hill back to the house just about finished me off.
Instead, we grilled up some buffalo brats and ate and ate some more. I won't go into the details of the rest of the food I ate that day, but it sure wasn't pretty. Meh-Monday was a lot better! And I've got delicious left-overs for lunch today.
I'll pick up stage 5 today.

Good things. Oh, so many for the weekend. I took some much needed me time Saturday and putzed around the house. Sunday, and great ride, Monday was relax and get-back-on-track-with-food day. Oh, and a nice long walk with the pup and bf in the rain. It was just warm enough to do it.

I'm glad you had a good weekend! That sounds like a really fun bike ride, I'm sure you earned most of those eats.

I'm not so concerned with the amount of food I ate, more the quality...Shortly after eating, I broke out into a lovely rash. I'm still all splotchy from it. Oh, and itchy. I've really been noticing lately how differently by body reacts to foods. It's a good thing to an extent because it keeps me eating cleaner, but I still crave the processed foods from time to time, so the whole rash and other reactions are bad.
I don't want to become one of those people who can't eat out, or have to have servers list all of the ingredients in foods before ordering. I also don't want to have to bring my own special meals to family and friend gatherings.
I'm probably over reacting to an extent, but damn, my arms, chest and back itch!

Lisa, thanks for stopping by. I was just catching up on your log earlier.

I'm guessing there was dairy in one or more things I ate Sunday. I got lazy and didn't read ingredients. I have some pretty bad food allergies (no dairy, no MSG, no strawberries, can't digest tomatoes, and so on) and usually check everything before eating. So many things at the regular grocery store have whey in them--I'll never understand why. (side note: has anyone ever noticed that there's high fructose corn syrup and MSG in most jars of peanuts? Why? The only ingredient should be peanuts...maybe salt, but even that's not necessary.) I usually shop at a natural grocer, but that wasn't an option late Sunday. We had to get buns and several other things at the regular grocery store.
When I wasn't paying good attention to it, I had a constant rash on my upper arms: spotty, but not itchy. I've been so good about not having any dairy lately, which is probably why the rash is as bad as it is right now (not to mention digestion issues).

Ok, I had to drag my ass into the gym last night. I went. I worked out. I did pretty good until the end. HIIT was lacking in a big way. Here's the details...
S5B1:

RDL/Bent Over Row: 4 sets 4 # 85lbs (+5lbs)--I had a heck of a time getting that last set up
Partial Single Leg Squats: 2 sets 4 bw, 2 sets 4 10lbs. The first two sets I attempted the assisted pistol. Apparently I can't hold my leg up long enough to make this happen successfully. So, after the first 2 sets, I went with 10 lbs off of a high step. When I do them on the step, I can get past parallel. If only I could hold my leg up...Maybe I'll switch my assistance to hold that leg up instead of help me stay upright.
Wide Grip Lat Pulldown: 1 set 4 @ 112/100, 3 sets 4 @ 100lbs (the first set I only managed to squeeze 2 out at the higher weight, and they were in bad form. So I lowered it for the rest.)
Back Extension: 2 sets 4 @ 35 lbs, 2 sets 4 @ 45lbs (+10 last two sets.)
YTWL: 4 sets 4 @ 10lbs (+2.5) Ouch.
Swiss Ball crunch: 4 sets until failure/bored @ 17.5 lbs--reps of 4 just didn't seem enough
Hip Flexion: 4 sets 6 jackknife in pike position.
Lateral Flexion: 4 sets 6 on ball. These are super hard after the pike jackknives...
Prone Cobra. Meh. Hate these still. Didn't time them.
HIIT: box jumps. I started getting lightheaded and had cramps, so I cut this short and opted to go home and sit in the tub instead. A much better choice I think.

All in all, it was pretty good. Still not my favorite workout in the book, but I'll do it. Things to work on:
1. Holding up my leg for the pistol.
2. Remembering @ TTOM, over exerting means lightheadedness. Maybe not the best day to increase weights; I did it anyway. HIIT lacked because of it.
3. Cobras are good. No matter how much I hate them, they're good for me. I should really start caring enough to time these.

Good things for yesterday. Eating was on target. And, my rash is starting to go away. I have a strange reaction to dairy--I get the whole digestive issues, but then I also seem to have an "outdoor allergy reaction" to it as well, where I get sneezey, congested, and get a hive-like rash (although it's not identical to hives). If I plan ahead and take medication, these symptoms are less. But, if I have surprise dairy lately, it's over the top. Thankfully, it's not the death-by-strawberries type of allergy, because dairy is really hard to avoid.
Other good things: I made myself workout and rewarded it with a soaking in the tub. I don't take enough baths.

Hey, just catching up on your log...been really busy here. Sorry about the rash, that's annoying (to put it mildly)

On another note, I really like your "good thing for the day"--I just might steal that idea!

Wow! I forgot how overwhelming starting a new job can be! I took a week off and and back in the gym tonight. I think I need it, or at least someplace to direct all of this nervous energy. I meet with a client today, and it's only my second day. EEK!
Anyway, first day at the new job was really good. Did I mention overwhelming though?
Celeste-I love the good thing for the day thing too. I stole it from Dirty Martini. That said... good thing for today already! I rode my bike into work today because the next several days are supposed to rain. It was a great ride. And, again, the last hill just about killed me. I'm so glad that they have showers here!
Will update again next time I can. But am going to continue my workouts. I have a feeling I'm goin to be extremely busy with work the next several weeks/months...

Ah... New jobs are neat but don't expect major changes in the gym during the first 6 months or so. The stress will probably take you out in too many ways to see major results. That is okay though if you can maintain as opposed to gain weight you will be better off than most.

Yes, I can see what you mean. I'm exhausted already, but still plan on heading to the gym. I'm hoping that after I eat I'll have the energy I need...HIIT and the body weight matrix might suffer though! At least the people in this office seem to be fitness minded...I've already got offers for lunch-time bike rides and runs. Oh, and there's a sad little gym in the building that at least has dumbbells and cables. So, if I'm in a pinch, I can do that too. There's no squat rack or bench or even bars though.
