Today I have eaten: egg white omelet w/ham & veg, and a chicken salad. And a chocolate chip cookie.
I've also had:

1. Delerium Tremens
2. Ommegang Witte
3. about 3oz of Avery's The Reverend
4. 12oz Avery IPA
mmmmmm

I brought 3 & 4 to work with me and shared with about 5 other people. They loved #3 (one guy said it made him want to discover beer, LOL) and talked me into bringing a "beer of the week" to work every friday. Next week I'm bringing in some Belgian Trippel. I thought I'd bring in 2 different ones for people to try out.

I definitely made some friends today.

Indeed!!

Dinner: NZ sav blanc, yellowfin tuna ceviche, 3 tomato soups (about 2Tbsp each of brandywine, yellow lemon something-or-other, and tomatillo), 3 slices of different breads with 3 different butters, filet mignon with a truffle-veal-reduction sauce, asparagus, brussel sprouts, and a molten chocolate cake with graham cracker ice cream.

And to top it all off, a phenomenal 40-year old Tawny port that I could have sipped on all night. Wonderful, delicious, fantastic, spectacular.... mmm, birthday...

We bought a ConceptII rower from someone on Craigslist yesterday (used of course). It's a model C but the guy put a model D handle on it.

I did a workout yesterday - 2 miles on the rower (a little over 15 mins) and 25 minutes on the bike. I LOVE the rower. I think I'm going to add a couple miles of rowing to my 'off' workout days just to get in some exercise. It was fun, and it'll be a challenge to see how long it takes me to be able to row 2 miles in less than 15 minutes.

Nice catch - I mainly use the rower for a warmup, but have been known to do HIIT on it too.

LOL except for Friday. All food is zero calories on birthdays though.

Thanks, though... it's been a hard but great/rewarding year. I was just thinking yesterday how my arms look better than they have in my whole life. I've never had great arms or anything, but now they're actually curvy even when they're at rest. It makes me feel good about what I've been able to accomplish this year, not the least of which is my struggle with confidence and always feeling like the Chubby Girl(tm). You know, the pretty girl's chubby friend. The one the wingman talks to.

It's bled through into my job and hobbies as well. I'm oozing confidence now.

That's a cool thing, isn't it. I just noticed it the other day myself and thought it was wild!

You are so right....no calories counted on birthdays!! Yours sounds great, and I REALLY want some of that graham cracker ice cream. I LOVE that!

I know!!! I'm going to play around with it tonight now that I've figured out the basic controls. I LOVE IT so far. My photo club is coming up Thursday so it's just in time.

Here are 2 pics I took recently.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10 on left, Nikon D40 on right:

Both are of the moon and the one on the left was the clearest I could get the moon. Both ISO 400 with aperture of f5.6. The shutter speed on the left was 1s and the shutter speed on the right was MUCH faster (hence the detail) - 1/500s I think. The one on the right is with 200mm zoom. I couldn't get any detail on the moon with the Panasonic regardless of the shutter speed so I opted for a star effect instead.

I'm impressed that the sharpness of the picture on the left; I didn't use a tripod to take the picture.

Neither picture has any editing other than cropping.

I could go for a beer right now, I tell you what. Work's been BUSY this week and a beer sounds delicious.

NROL Fat Loss I, A6

yesterday's workout

Barbell Squats
3x10x105

Seated Row
3x10x90

Supine Hip Extension
3x10

Barbell Push Press (instead of DB push press)
3x10x60

Rotating Lunge
3x12x30e

Swiss Ball Crunch
3x10x17.5 (slower tempo)

I looked at FL II and I'm less excited about it, but sometimes I change my mind when I get into the workouts themselves. We'll see.

Tonight I did 15 minutes of rowing (3km). I'm enjoying it much more than the bike lately; probably because it's something different.

I'm still in the 141s these days but becoming ever smaller. I bought a pair of size 10 "Essential" jeans at the GAP in Feb/March of this year and tried on a pair of Essentials this weekend and the size 6 fit perfectly. I didn't buy them, but it was satisfying to put them on and congratulate myself on what I've done with my fitness this year.

NICE job on those OH BB push presses! I FINALLY was able to do 45 lbs. My shoulders have really had a hard time coming along, but I am finally seeing progress. I will shoot for 65 lbs now. Nice job.

Thanks missjane! These are one of my favorite exercises - I absolutely love them. Soon I'll see 10# plates on each end of that bar!

In two ways, but it'll do. 1, it was the best they had at the store (and that I was in the mood for). 2, I was in a hurry to take the picture, eat my dinner, and do some work.

Friday, my beer-of-the-week-at-work is a La Fin du Monde. mmm, delicious.

That is very cool about the jeans. I find that I am noticing the difference in myself in clothes (pants mostly) more then on the scale.

Did you do the break in workouts for Fat Loss? I am going to be starting Fat Loss I in a week or so and am wondering if I should do them or not. Probably will - can't hurt, right?

Nah, I didn't do the break-ins. I figured I was already doing NROL-style workouts & didn't need to do the break-in. I figured it was geared more toward people who were used to doing those "monday: chest. Tuesday: legs. Wednesday: arms" style workouts even though he says you should do the break-in.

Today's my last NROL FLI workout. I've seen some good changes in my upper arms and my thighs. I think I've seen more changes in my quads in this workout program than in any of the NROL4W stuff, but then it could be because I'm leaner now than I was in the spring.

I rowed 3km last night; the rowing machine is fun but it kicks my ass. I was going to wear a pair of dress slacks today, one of my last 3 pairs I can wear. I wore them last month I think & haven't worn them since. Anyway, put them on today and they were HUGE. I had saggy crotch and the pants have no belt loops, so I added those to my growing stack of clothes that don't fit me anymore. So now for what I can wear to work, I'm down to 2 dress pants, 2 skirts, 2 dresses, and 1 pair of jeans. I want to go clothes shopping but I feel like if I lose even 4-5 more pounds those clothes won't fit me anymore.

I'm thinking about getting some clothes altered but alterations are so expensive - it's almost worth just buying brand new clothes. Why spend $30 on an alteration when I can pick up a pair of nice slacks at Banana Republic for $27.99?

DM, I am feeling your pain. I have NOTHING to wear for Fall in the way of bottoms. Zilch. I went through my closet again last weekend and I have 25 pairs of pants/jeans to go to Goodwill. Several dresses. I now have no dresses. No skirts left either. I salvaged 4 pairs of dress pants that I might have altered. But, like you, I am wondering if it's even worth it. I do have one pair of jeans and I ordered a new pair yesterday. I still have some t's and tops that still fit OK. But, this is going to be a slow wardrobe build, and I hesitate to do it too fast until I am THERE. I bought a couple new pair of pants a couple months ago that are already too big.

I'm actually going to hit BR tomorrow, as I have the day off and see if I can snag any sales, myself. Even if I find a few things that are a tad tight, I'm sure I'll be OK shortly and I can certainly save them for next summer. I'm just worried about Fall/Winter and nothing is on sale.

Ooooh have fun. I think BR is having a sale of 30% off its fall arrivals (celebrating its 30-year anniversary)...

Bummer about the dresses and skirts though. Well at least cooler weather is coming so you have several months before it's time for fun dresses & skirts again. Even still...

I feel lame complaining, though. I could have much worse issues.
