Busy weekend.
September 21, 2008
Laps in pool.
I like the change of pace and getting my tail off the bike, so I may be getting some goggles in the future.

I wish I had easy access to an olympic pool ... the pool I have access to is heated to 92 degrees and is heavily chlorinated and only about 15m long.

Wow, Julie - 92 degrees?! That's not good for much.
It's not a full-size olympic pool; it's half size, so it's only 25 meters long. But it's set up for laps. They also just changed to saltwater a month or so back, so no chlorine!
Rob - I've never had goggles. I just have always swum without them; it's not like I can see much without my glasses anyway. And I'm not much of a swimmer. I'll see if they help!

I had my bag packed this morning and while I was still barefoot, I cut my foot on something. It wasn't serious and scabbed over quickly, but I did *not* want to think about taking a shower at the gym with that. I ended up searching through a bunch of dollar stores for a cheap pair of flip-flops. Looks like they're all stocked up on fall merchandise and no one had any in my size. Hmph.
Did a short workout at home instead.
Foam rolling
Activation & mobility
Turkish get ups, 3 x 10 ES @ 10 lbs.

You've been going barefoot in a gym shower all this time? Shame...

Sorry to hear your workout got sidetracked. You were wise to do so.

I didn't wear flipflops in the high school gym and did fine, except for the seven huge plantar warts that had to be removed later that year. Two by excision with electrodessication, two by freezing and three on my own with regular acid treatments.
Yet I still go barefoot at the YMCA. Go figure.

You guys are a regular riot. Thank you SOOOO much for that visual, Tina. I suppose I ought to listen to the doctor there.
Really, I've never bothered with the flip-flops. I usually spray my feet anyway to kill off anything nasty. But having a cut brings images of MRSA or nec-fasc. I'll keep looking through the dollar stores till I find a pair.
Neil - TGUs suck! They wear me out quickly and work nearly every muscle. But they ARE great for developing shoulder stability so I keep doing them. They just take a long time, about 20-25 seconds per rep, so it's tough to put them in a normal one hour workout plan.

Okay, so this discussion is from a while ago but hey, it takes me a while to catch up, what can I say?

If you only have the gym to work with, I'd do 2 when I walked in, then do 2 more every 5-10 minutes. Just do them in between your other stuff. Do them every day you're in the gym, regardless of what your routine for the day is (unless it's chinup day, of course). After a few weeks, test your max again.

Lost Dog--would you do this every day or just lifting days? I'm working on my chinups also (can do 5 or 6 depending on the day ). So I'm trying to figure this out...I don't want to overdo it and not improve, but not doing much won't improve me either!
