Hey girlie. I know I've been away but I grossly under estimated how much stress changing jobs would put in my life. I'm just now getting to the point where order is remotely restored. I'm smart that I should have seen it coming but no one ever thinks it will happen to them.

I did get back in the gym today. By old me standards it should have been easy. By new me standards I wobbled out of the gym trying to walk without the use of my quads or hamstrings. Thank god for a desk job.

It's only a month. I think I can do it.

Day 2 wrkt 2. All rest was 60 seconds.

Lower body:
1. Squats: 2x8@ 95
2. Romanian DL: 2x5@ 60, 1x5@ 70, 2x5@ 80
3. DB Lunge: 2x12@ 10
4. Seated Calf Raises: 3x14@ 70
5. Hanging Knee Raises: 2x15@BW

There was supposed to be a superset with the abs. No way was I doing that. The only reason I did the hanging knee raises was because it works the lower abs which are attached. I also didn't want to do too much with the abs as a precaution. Last night I could feel my abs and not in a good way. I think from this point forward I will eliminate all direct ab work of any kind.

That's day 2. Tomorrow is a rest day. I want to do something but I probably need the rest and should treat myself like a beginner.

So go for a walk, do some prehabby and mobility stuff. There, something done and not much extra stress taking away from a rest day.

I just want to point out that I am so sore I can barely walk. I almost went to work in flip flops so I wouldn't have to bend over.

The good news is that I know I was using my glutes and hamstrings in the exercises.

It's upper body tomorrow so hopefully by Saturday I'll be able to lunge again.

I was supposed to work out today but with a soccer game and football practice I just mowed the yard instead. I still worked up a good sweat.

I'll hit it again on Monday.

I worked out last night and got another one in this morning. Last night I had to cut the work out short. There was a lot of ab work which was originally planned and for obvious reasons I cut that out. When I got into the leg work I was wiped out. Doing the split squats my poor little legs were shaking and not in an Elvis type of way. They were tired. I choose to not do one more leg workout and risk hurting myself.Tomorrow is an off day and I could use the rest.

Wrkt 4 Yesterday
1. Squats: 2x8@85, 1x20@85
2. Romanian DL: 2x8@60, 1x20@60
3. Bulgarian Split Squat: 3x8@15
4. Stand Calf Raises: 3x15@90

Wrkt 5
Today
1. Bent Row: 1x5@55, 4x5@ 60
2. Chinup: 1x6@ BW -55, 1x6@ BW -40, 1x6@ BW -55
3. Bench Press: 5x5@ 120
4. Dips: 3x8@ BW -55
5. Nuetral Grip Shoulder Press: 2x8 @ 35 EH, 1x8 @ 30 EH
6a. Tricep Pushdown: 2x8@ 57.5
6b. Barbell Curl 2x8@ 50

Wrkt 6. All rest was 60 seconds.

Lower body:
1. Squats: 3x8@ 95
2. Romanian DL: 5x5@ 80
3. DB Lunge: 3x8@ 10
4. Seated Calf Raises: 3x15@ 70

This was an interesting day. I had my mind all set for an upper body workout and then BAM! I look at my log and there it is. Squats and lunges. Talk about a downer. It turned out to be a pretty decent workout. I added a set of squats and increased the volume on lunges to all in all I feel pretty proud. This time around I took out all the direct ab work. No point in trying to skirt the doctors orders. My stomach can only get worse. It won't get any better.

Upper body is tomorrow. That should start the weekend off right.

I got my workout in on Friday. I'll post it when I go to the car and get my log out. I'm planning on hitting the gym after work today and blowing off my sons football practice. It gets dark so early now that by the time I get there and set up my trusty lawn chair it is time to go. I was going to go this morning but I've been having ab pain all weekend. I wanted to see how the day went. So far so good. I may take it easy on the legs and not try and progress to much.

Mornin', sunshine.

Now knock off the consistent workouts, will ya? You're making me look like a slacker.

Don't worry Diane. Life keeps getting in the way. I never got there last night because of a fire I needed to put out at work and then this morning as I was loading my bag into the car I noticed the overwhelming smell of gas in the garage. Obviously this is something I can't leave unattended so I had to investigate. The generator I let to my sons football team for lights last night was leaking all over the garage. By the time I got the problem solved and the mess cleaned up it was too late to work out. I'm going to try and go this evening but it means I'll miss my sons baseball lesson which I really enjoy going to watch. Arrggghh!

I'd try to go at lunch but I have an appointment. I hate being a grownup some times.

OK so I finally woke my a$$ up early and got into the gym and still managed to get to work early enough to leave on time to get to my sons football game tonight. This has the making of a super dad day.

The song for the day is Boombastic. You have to love a big Ipod. You find hidden gems in there periodically. Here is the Friday workout and today's.

Wrkt 7 Friday

1. Underhand Grip Bent Row: 3x8@70
2. Straight Arm Pulldown: 3x8@ 35
3. Bench Press: 3x8@ 125
4. Incline DB Curl: 3x8 @25
5a. Bentover Lateral Raise: 2x8@ 10
5b. Lateral Raise: 2x8@ 10
6a. Dips: 2x8@ BW-55
6b. Incline DB fly: 2x12@ 25

Wrkt 8 Today
1. Squats: 2x8@95, 1x20@95
2. Romanian DL: 2x8@70, 1x20@70
3. Bulgarian Split Squat: 3x8@15
4. Stand Calf Raises: 3x15@90

I'm going to have to be real careful with the squats. The first set I got a pain in my abs that was not the good working out pain. I made a correction to my form and it went away but still I need to be careful.

It looks like I am going to have to shut down at least squats for the awhile. I have developed an sharp pain in a spot where I am not supposed to have a sharp pain. I'd rather have to buy new pants than have another surgery.

Let me know what you think about this idea. It seems that one of my biggest issues is that I no longer have the hold in your guy sheath that planks work so well. I wonder if that is causing undo stress on my abs when working out. Would something like a girdle work to help hold things in place and reduce the stress. It's a thought. I'm going to give it a day and try to work upper body tomorrow and see if hurting myself is only isolated to squats.

It might help. It might not. I mean, it sorta depends on why you're hurting.

That's a good idea. I think the squat hurts when I fire up because as a quasi total body exercise I have to use the upper abs which is where it hurts and bad. Not in a sore kinda way but in a I just tore something kinda way. Leg curls it is.

I'm determined to beat this. I can't accept the fact my dreams of an underwear model were cut down with a surgeons blade.

You're not, not doing squats because you're a pussy\fag boy. You're not doing them because if you fart in the middle of one you'll fucking disembowel yourself.

A: That's fucking inconsiderate. Some poor ass hole making minimum wage is going to have to squeegee your insides off the mirror.

B: There "are" guys in the world that look pretty darn solid having never done a compound exercise in their life. Do what you CAN do and be progressive about it.

You're as eloquent as always. Sound advice though. I'm going to let the pain in my tummy go away and then get back at it.

The stomach feels better so I brought the gym bag to see if I can get some upper body stuff done today. If it keeps up raining it will happen. If it doesn't I've got my sons last football game of the season to go watch. With the last game over my days will open up dramatically.

it's raining here today and allegedly going to snow. I'll believe that when I see it.

it's bizarre, like the low pressure system is rotating on top of us

it looks like the ice/snow part is staying north and west of the city, which will be much better for my (short) commute home

however, it's only 11:30...

and its a balmy 37. This is the cost of wearing shorts all last week because it was in the 60s
