My building has no open stairway up from the ground floor. 16 story building and we're on the 2nd and 3rd floor. I feel like an idiot taking the elevator up to 2, but there's no way to get into the stairwell from 1. Pisses me off. You can use stairs between 2-3, but not from the ground floor. So we always get the stink eye from the 16th floor execs who are annoyed that you paused them after one floor.

Sweet. I can totally manage that.

Here it is. This picture is about a week old. It is much more closed up than this now. I'll take it down in a couple of days for those that would rather not look at blood and guts.

Wow, that's a big scar, Gabe. I'm with the others - take it easy, man. It's a long journey yet.

(On the stair front, two young guys get on the elevator in my office tower yesterday on 3 and get off on 4 .... morons.)

I've got 2 Dr's appointments on Monday that will tell me if I'm over doing it. I think I've done a good job at listening to my body. For example most nights I'm sleeping at least 9 hours. I'm not pushing that.

The Dr. said I am healing like Wolverine. OK. So maybe he didn't put it exactly like that but he did say that I am healing nicely. I put on 3lbs since my last visit. 5lbs according to my Cardiologist but I'll get into that later. The most glorious news is that he released me to work out with weights. He cautioned against ab work and over doing it but otherwise I am free to go. Almost equally as glorious is that he referred me to the Dr. that is putting me back together since he is not comfortable doing it. It seems my level of infection, scar tissue, etc makes it more than routine. Lovely! (Please note the sarcasm.)

I also met with my cardiologist. I think he forgot about the particulars of my case. He started talking like I would be on the medication for every. When I reminded him that I have never had an issue with blood pressure until I almost died then he agreed to test my system in 5 to 6 months. Frustrating but the medicine has no rebound effects so if I "forget" to take it for a couple of days it won't hurt me. Don't worry. I'll wait until well after I am put back together before I do anything crazy.

I meet with the Dr that is putting me together tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll have some good news. Be thinking about what work out I should do. I"M CLEAR TO GO TO THE GYM. Yeah me!

I spoke with Leigh about Sushi and couldn't find any big reason not to have it. I should go easy on the Washabi.

I tried some today and I think we are cleared for lift off.

After my visit today I got the impression that I could pretty much do anything within reason.

When they put me back together they will cut out this scar and make it prettier. I may also get my appendix out while the hood is open.

Cool beans. You'll have orifices opening and closing all over the place. Party.

And Lisa's cartoon mentioning the doctors' "surprise" method of testing pain brings back bad memories.

There's a similar test for possible patellar instability, where a doc will grab your leg and put pressure on the inside of the knee. For people with stable patellas, no biggie. For others, they react right away. It's common to do with athletes to see if some types of prehab may be necessary.

My doc did the test correctly, but he did it three days after I'd dislocated it. Idiot. I instinctively bolted upright and grabbed him by the collar. I think his life flashed before his eyes.

You got it. They'll also clean out some scar tissue. I wonder if I need to bring in a coupon.

Sounds an awful lot like a tummy tuck to me.

Now that you're officially cleared, I'll shut up.

Just kiddin' I really don't shut up very well. I just find something different to pick at you about.

BTW, See if they can get your gallbladder out too. Although of the two organs I've had removed, I will say I've missed it the most.

Well, gee, Gabe, if everyone's suggesting organs to get rid of, I'll say go for the hysterectomy. Then get the snake tat.

Glad to hear things are getting better.

There are still plenty of things of stay on me about. I haven't started working out yet and I've still got my new surgeon tomorrow.

3 major surgeries in 10 years I've earned a tattoo. Unfortunately, I don't know what I what to put on my body for the rest of my life. The way I'm going I'll have something else happen and I'll end up with another scar that cuts the head off the snake.

Alright I have a confession. This has all been a carefully thought out ruse to cover my tummy tuck. Greg found me out. I was so scarred that you guys would find out and I would lose my street cred that I had my plumbing re-routed and had the cut a massive scar. And you thought Peter went to great lengths for a joke.

If only!

I met with the surgeon yesterday. I really like her. She wants to do some diagnostic work to determine why this happened and to make sure that I have nothing else going on. As a result I will have an exploratory procedure Monday and a CAT scan a few weeks later. Barring any unforeseen set backs it looks like I will be put back together somewhere around the first part of April or the end of March.

The good news is that I am also not a vampire of a werewolf. She put silver nitrate on my scar to help keep it flat and it did not burn or hurt me at all.

Sounds like things are looking up for you Gabe! Wow, if you could get that reversal surgery in April, you will be doing great by summer I should think. Fingers crossed.

I am very upbeat. To be better by summer is a great thought. She said that the recovery time won't be nearly as long because this will be a "controlled" surgery. It could be as little as 2 weeks.

She also doesn't anticipate that I will lose nearly as much weight because of the controlled nature of the surgery. No more ice chips and water.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm going to work out now. I've got six weeks.

Booo Yaaaa!!!! I did something physical beside walk.

Read the log and weep.

I was planning on redoing Big Boy Basics because it would be a could gauge of where I am at. Well the best laid plans of mice and men. Instead of going into the gym I played some long toss with the boy for about 20 minutes, good times, and then went and did some BW stuff at the stations in the neighborhood. Jill did ya hear that I went out side to work out! Man. I'm in a fantastic mood.

3 x 10 Inverted Rows Rest 60s
3 x 2 Pull-ups 60s Rest
3 x 15 push-up
Walked 1/2 miles

I also did 7 flights of stairs at work.

It felt great. I took it easy on the pull ups because I could really feel it on the scar. My inner Jamie told me not to push it. Of course where there is Jamie there is Red close by. He made me do another set while heckling me.

I plan to start BBB tomorrow. I've got 6 weeks before the next cutting. It's time to get busy.
