Dude, I don't care where she stokes her fire as long as I get to partake in the quenching.

I have to tell you, I'm not quite that generous! I am totally cool for RL to stoke and quench his fires at home.

Sorry, It's been a busy couple of days.
  1. My Internet connection has had issue and since I'm the techno guy fixing it has been a problem. I got cocky last night and I think I fixed it.
  2. I went back to work. It's not as glorious as it sounds but I did get out and become a useful member to society for a couple of hours on Thursday.
  3. I've needed to rest. I'm still not a 100% and it's tough for me to admit it. I tried to do a lot the last couple of days and it catches up to me. I slept a lot this weekend.
  4. I also managed to do a lot of reading. I've finished 2 more books and am well into my third. I love the writers strike and the bargain books at B&N
On the medical front I went to the Cardiologist. My GP wasn't comfortable handling my blood pressure issues so he pawned me off. It was a good visit. I got to see a sonogram of my heart which is really healthy. He says I have no worries of dying of a random heart thing. He also changed my BP medicine. Hopefully, we'll get my dizziness under control.

I've also got the bag a little more figured out. We changed to a 2 piece system that has kinda a tupperware seal. It makes for a quick change and less skin irratation as I don't have to take the wafer off nearly as often as before.

On the fitness front. I put on an lbs. I did some body weight squats which means I just bent down. It made me sore. Wow! I've also been walking a lot.

Every day is a little better. I'm blessed and I know it.

Good news Gabe. Your attitude is probably the most important thing to a complete recovery.

My attitude waffles but I'm trying to stay on the positive side. It could be worse.

Sounds like reasonable progress, Gabe. Try to keep thinking positively. This will be behind you soon. (and, no, the word "behind" was not intended as a pun .... )

Days like today make me feel like much less of a freak. I drove for the first time in a month. The other day was less than a mile. Today I put on work clothes and even had to get on the freeway. Happy times.

I'll go back into my main job tomorrow and meet with them and see what they want to do with me.

John,

I agree. My biggest problem is that I am so used to doing and going that slowing down take an awful lot. I'm getting better.

Jamie,

I was only on the freeway for 2 exits. Mostly I took back roads and never got over 50. I also made sure to call my wife when I got there

Jamie,

I knew it was time to get out of the house when my wife was helping me to tie my shoes and she did it in a double not.

I officially gained kid status.

So sorry! I totally get where you are coming from...I get the stuck at home blues, too. It's just that driving in Houston is dangerous, and if you're the least bit tenative then you'll get eaten alive.

I remember leaving the hospital with Samantha (after a week in the hospital from an appendectomy and l&d), I was so glad to see the sun, but so nervous b/c it had been soo long since I had participated in the real world. I cried and nobody could figure out why, and truthfully I still lack the words to accurately describe my instability.

One day at a time, buddy. One day at a time.

Gabe, when you are thinking about what you want to do for the day, you should make a list and cut it in half! Crazy goose! You still have a gaping wound, don't you!? Settle down, dude!

I can only give this advice, 'cause I got a kick in the pants this morning myself.

If it helps, you can commit to only half-days for a while. I'll come over around noon and we'll hit a matinee movie.

D'ya think my company will let me count it against my 40 hours of volunteer time we get every year?

I'm needy and some times whiny. Come on over.

At this point I am only working 6 hours a day. That includes lunch. I get in about 10 and then leave at 4. It wasn't bad after my first day. I did take a picture of the wound if anyone wants to see it. I swear my belly button is held in place by Swingline Staples.
