Catching up with Tuesday's craziness. . . .
I don't know if I drank too much coffee or if someone put some crack in my lunch, but I was working out with a friend and we both had some insanely high energy levels, so read on and know that because of THIS workout, I was completely FUBAR today and had to limit myself to a mere 30 minute semi-brisk incline walk on the treadmill (3.6mph, 7%--almost unbearable):
W.U. on Step-7 minutes, fast pace with 8 db's and 2.5 lb ankle weights (which, like total morons, we forgot to take off)
We did the following 6 exercises to failure: Crab Walk: 3 min.10sec. Isometric Push-up Hold: 2 min.20sec. Single-Leg Plank Extension: 1:18(R), 1:07(L) Abdominal Hang: 46 seconds Wall Squat: 2 min.7sec. Abs. Crawl: 37 "steps" on hands dragging 10 lb. weight plate across floor (medieval torture, let me tell ya)
30 Alt. Lunges w/15 db's
20 Jump Squats
Pilates 100 x 2
Cooled down/Stretched like Crazy!
So, feeling pretty beat up today and figured I better take a day or so to think about my sanity. Not helping that my husband has chosen today to be King of the Jerks. Heading down to eat some lovely salmon and hope the healing powers of Omega-3 help ease my soreness and make him appear more likeable!

Sweet workout LoriAnne! Its funny you mention the omega-3's. I was telling a girl at work all about fish oil and all its benefits. She said maybe if she gets some then our coworkers wouldn't get on her nerves so bad. I said fish oil may have magic powers, but I don't think it can make annoying people not be annoying anymore. But let me know the results of your personal research study.

I ate a good 7 ozs. of salmon and yet still wanted to smack him in the mouth. I hate to place blame on a lovely piece of fish, it was satisfying and delightful--two things I cannot say about him!

I know! We are planning on getting together this weekend and I'm thinking I should slip her a Valium before she gets any hare-brained ideas.

Thanks! And thanks for stopping by my log!

Okay, I truly believe I may have broken my abdominals! LOL
I am experiencing the deepest pain along my obliques that is unlike anything I have ever felt. I have this crazy, puffy awful swollen thing protruding along my mid-left side. It makes me totally re-consider my pereceived core strength and endurance. Or, on the other hand, maybe I'm just now finding exercises that really hit me where I need to be hit?
Any thoughts out there?

Ack! That does not sound good! You going to have it checked out?
Hmm, that doesn't sounds good at all... Jane mentioned a hernia... might want to get chaked outand make sure you don't have one of those.. I've seen the surgery to get them repaired, and while it's not bad as far as surgeries go, you still don't want to have to get it done... so I'd go get it checked out....
Hope you feel better and it turns out to just be the fact that you're kicking some major ass! :-)
I don't know much about hernias either (but that had definitely entered my mind!) and had always considered them an affliction limited to males! I should have clarified that the swollen area is pretty much a mass of "rubbery" feeling nodules that is roughly the combined size of a small canteloupe. Again, I don't know much about them, but remember a friend's husband that had one and it was located in his low abdomen and was more of a hard golf-ball thingy.
I am paying really close attention to how it feels and the level of acute soreness. Obviously, I am not even considering working out today and if the swelling/pain has not subsided by tomorrow morning, I will be stopping by my Dr.'s office first thing. I usually end up going in there once every couple months, so I'm sure he already thinks I'm a hypochondriac (which I probably am) . So, I want to wait and see if it is something that truly warrants a visit and not just another reason to support the Corporate Medical Machine.
I'm eating really clean and light today figuring I don't need to add insult to injury and plan to take it easy and hope for recovery.
I'm hoping I can chalk this up to being a psycho and not being able to tell myself when too much is too much. I'm an addict!!

Just to put you at ease, um, that ain't normal.
My brother had a hernia from birth just below his sternum, he could push it in and out LOL!

Sore, swollen, cantaloupe... see doctor!
Sore, swollen, melons-I'm picturing the eye roll on the Dr.'s face right now!

Feel better, my Friend.
The blinding pain when I touch it has lessened, but it's still about a 7 on a scale of 1-10.
No!, it was that damn Amy! And, I'm happy to report she is fine, when I called her demanding a vivid description of any and all pain issues, her response was "Well, my left inner thigh is a little bit sore." LOL I'm relieved that she hadn't injured herself during our torture-extravaganza, but now really wondering WTF I did to myself!? I will call you tomorrow for sure.

Mel, I've decided Whitney Houston was right about two things:
1.) Loving yourself IS the greatest love of all.
2.) Crack is whack.
Thanks to everyone who has expressed concern for me. I feel a bit like a person who expects sympathy while handling a bad hangover--it's self-induced and I should have known better! As I was talking to my workout buddy today, we discussed all the things we did and she agrees that something wicked could have happened. But (and maybe this is just ego talking) I felt like my core was really strong and while I felt the burn of a tough workout, I didn't feel that "pop" that happens when I've crossed the threshold of what I'm capable of. Regardless (pride be damned), I've already got an appointment with my Dr. tomorrow morning. I spent about 10 minutes talking with the nurse today and she agrees that it's probably worth me coming in to have him take a look and a poke. I will be sure to post when I get home, and again, thanks to everyone for their friendship and concern.
Back from the doc, yet?? He probably thinks you are crazy, LMAO! At least he is cool and has been your doctor long enough to see all the changes you have made.
I am sending you vibes that the pain is just a fluke.

Hello! No, I was not the victim of an alien abduction and a million thank yous to everyone who was patiently waiting for me to get back in here and share the low-down!
My Doctor, who definitely thinks I am insane, said that it was NOT a hernia, that the swollen area was so large, "if it were a hernia, I wouldn't be able to walk I would be in such unbearable pain." He did give me a wonderful muscle relaxer (alas, only 10 ), and advised that I had a deep muscle strain and had to avoid any and all exertion for at least the next 5-7 days. *big sigh* So I got home, took one of my happy pills, nodded off for a nap and roused from my coma with just enough time to shower and meet some friends for dinner. I got up Saturday morning and the internet was not working. Our area has been going through the switch from the old cable company to Comcast and our broadband connection has been disrupted. So, I'm finally back in the office today (yay for internet connectivity!) and can get back in here!
I have heeded the Doc's advice and have abstained from any working out. Feeling like a big fat slug and not at all thrilled this is going down right before monthly update pics are due. I plan on continuing with the rest through tomorrow and then easing back into things on Thursday. I'm going to be taking it easy with abs. for a while to make sure I don't re-aggravate things. I wish I would have taken a video of the exchange with my Dr.-it was priceless! He just shakes his head and gives me that "How can I reason with this psycho-obsessed woman" look?! LOL He has a background in Sports Med., so it makes me feel better than he can understand the mindset and knows where I'm coming from. I got the standard follow-up tagline, "I wish more of my patients were as committed to their fitness, BUT. . . blah, blah, blah." Paid my $15, got my pills and my mini lecture, and got to get felt up by my cute Dr.! Outside of the pain, not a bad deal!!
Will check back into logs in a bit, going to pretend to do some work for a bit.
Have a great day!
