Ok, I just wanted to at least get a training log started. Here is some of my info from my joining post.
My name is Ginger and I am 35 and will be moving on to 36, next month.
I love working out and love what exercise, eating right and lifting weights are doing to my body.
I will be doing 3 workouts a week, as well as intervals. My measurements:
Height: 5'9.5
Weight: 171
Age: 35
chest: 36
rt. bicep: 11
Rt. thigh: 22.5
hips: 41
waist at belly button:34
Goals:
*I need to get this fat off and get it off, for good. I (obviously) tend to carry my weight in the belly area, the most.
*I want to burn fat and get lean.
*I am learning to work with the body I was given. I feel like I have spent most of my life, just trying to be as skinny as possible and those are no longer my goals and that is a HUGE accomplishment.
I'm excited about this challenge and think this place is flooded with like-minded people and just a ton of great information and inspiration!
I'll be back to add my schedule and logs.

Did workout B last night. I actually had started NROL4W last week, so that was the workout I was on. I am lov-ing this workout. I really thought when I first looked through it that I would feel challenged, but it has proven me wrong.
Deadlifts:
1-40lb/15 reps
2-50lb/15 reps
Note: I probably need to start with 50 next time, 40 is too light. DB shoulder Press:
1-15 lbs/15 reps
2-15 lbs/15 reps Wide Grip Lat pulldown:
1-65 lbs/15 reps
2-70 lbs/15 reps Lunges:
1-12.5 lbs/15 reps
2-15 lbs/15 reps Swiss Ball crunches:
1-BW/15 reps
2-BW/15 reps
I do realize it calls for less on these, but I need the 15.
I also did 30 minutes of intervals on the AMT machine, afterwards.
Yesterday, my food was a little iffy starting out, but got back on track.
The gym was super packed and I almost let that intimidate me, but I didn't. I am working through a weird fear/phobia of the free weight area, when the gym is full.

Welcome Ginny! This is one of the best forums there anywhere, drawing ALL the best people.
Getting enough calories is one of my challenges as well. Regarding crowded gyms, I know the feeling. Sometimes I want to turn around an walk back out. But remember why you are there. Get into the mind-set that you are the Alpha-Female of the free weight area and assert yourself!

I know what you are saying about learning to work with the body I've been given. I think one thing I love about weight lifting is that this is the first time in my life I've been thrilled to be big and tall and strong.
I'm 5' 10" and all through high school I always wished I was petite and cute. Ha. Tall chicks rock!

Oh yeah, me too.
Ok. I guess I need to log my food, to keep me doing what I need to be doing, to get where I want to get, huh?
For today 1/9/2008
Breakfast
Oatmeal w/blueberries and flax
coffee
Lunch
1 cup low fat yogurt
can of tuna w/1 tbsp light mayo, with cucumbers on a whole wheat tortilla
Hi Ginny, I wanted to stop by and say hello. I have the same phobia about the free weight room at my gym. There never seems to be any women back there and I feel like I stand out like a sore thumb. Its funny but I don't mind doing certain things, but I am very self conscience about the squat rack and doing deadlifts for some reason. Now I just fight my fears, hold my head up and walk back there. The truth is I am there for a reason and I keep telling myself nobody cares what I am doing they are to busy doing there on thing.
I used to feel that way too, but if you get back there, stay back there, and smile a lot, that feeling goes away. Now, when I'm throwing that weight around and their eyebrows go up to their hair lines, I feel very happy to be back there.
Hey Gin ! Just thought I'd pop in to say TY for stopping by mine & I wish you the best W/ your goals ! YOu can do it!! I just had to have that avatar,, glad you like it .. Really it makes me smile everyday when I see WW !!!! BTY---- The prone Jackknife is a lot hard to do in front of strangers in the weight room & I hate to do the calf thing , where you lay down on your stomach & you butt sticks up OHHHHHH How embarassing ! The deadlifts feel a little akward for me also when the weight room is full,,, I try to find a wall w/o a mirror to hide my backside while doing those AB
Welcome fellow Steelers fan!
Keep up the good work
Thank you! I love my black and gold.
Hi Thre4me! I just have to keep telling myself the same thing. Thanks!

Hi Ginger (love the name Ginger!)
Hi Bluefever! Thanks! I grew up despising the name, but I have now realized it was given to me for a reason!
Dilltl,
Giggling on the cat comment.
Mel,
Great advice, thank you!
Afterburn,
I hear you on all accounts. I cringe when doing the jacknifes, but oh well.
I am a fan of WW and that just cracks me up!

Hey...I lived north of Akron for several years and lived in Columbus for one party filled year and a half, just off of High Street. Use to ride my bike to downtown Columbus for classes at the community college for a semester. I didn't get much school work done there for some reason....
Ok, I need to make coming here to update my log a habit. Baby steps.
Last night was my 3rd workout with workout A. I had forgotten that the reps went down to 12, until after my squats.
I actually wanted to see if I was able to do this workout at home, with my equipment rather than fighting the crowded gym and I could! I had an incident with my Swiss ball and need to get a new one, so I had to replace the Jackknives with Planks. Never in my life did I think I would miss doing those, but I did.
So, it went a little somethin’ like this:
Warm up:
Lobster craw (5), 5 minutes on the treadmill
Squats
2x15x75
60 sec rest
Pushups
1x12
60 sec rest
Seated Row
1X60
60 sec. rest
Pushups
1x12
60 second rest
Seated Row
1x70
60 second rest
Step-ups (I had to improvise and use a coffee table, because my bench makes me nervous)
1x12x15lbs in each hand
60 second rest
40 second plank
1x12x15lbs in each hand
60 second plank
My legs weren’t completely agreeing at first, but then I hopped on the treadmill and did 15 minutes of intervals.
I ate pretty well yesterday, but after talking to Lori last night, I am revved up to make some changes and stick with them. My husband is a big garbage eater and since he has been off on vacation and home, it makes it hard to stick to my plan. I should be used the temptations, but I have been weak.
So far today:
I cup oatmeal w/frozen blueberries
L:
Spicy chicken breast with veggies

Reason: to change the funky font. :P
Thanks, Stingo.
I actually have a corner gym that has the cables, so I am good to go on that. Now, my low ceilings are the real problem with the step ups but I made it work.
For stepups, my trainer has me go up the steps of the local Y two at time, 5 flights, up and down twice. If you have the steps for it, it's something you might try.

Ginger, I actually had a man tell me that women shouldn't be lifting so much weight-- this happened a few months ago, in a very crowded weight room. I just looked at him and walked away; wish I was more witty and could have put him in his place. Nonetheless, I see him frequently now, and as far as I can tell, am always lifting more than he is. I don't worry about it too much.
Hi friend!
Your workouts look awesome and I'm still wishing we lived closer so we could bust our moves together. *big sigh*
Reading your logs is so motivating, it makes me want to strut back into my ghetto Y and take over the weight room! Seriously, I think it is wonderful that you do your thing in the middle of the gym. Overcoming the mental obstacles is 1/2 the battle and obviously, you've got that part covered.
You just rock!
