Ginger, sorry to hear about the challenge. I can understand his position, though, since I have to deal with co-op members every month and we have to have simple rules that everyone abides or it can get really chaotic. That said, I'm glad you're rebounding and making a plan to keep your momentum! That's super!! And I agree with Tom!
Ginger, have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I made that pie recipe that Little Mermaid posted here, lol. Can't wait to see how it is (although I overbeat the meringue and it flattened out a bit too much).
Kathy, mine turned out pretty good... but my meringue started oozing out the brown sugar... very weird. It tasted good though.... however the other one we made (cranberry chocolate nut pie) was even better! The cranberries are soaked in brandy, we used grand manier or however you spell that. I hope yours turned out good too!

Mine did the same thing with the brown sugar. Also, I overbeat the meringue so it lost half its volume while it cooled. My fault--I didn't have things timed right. It did taste good but I think next time I'll omit the meringue...to me it just didn't really do much for the pie and it was the crust with the gingersnaps (one of my favorite cookies) that made it stand out for me. The cranberry sounds good, mmm.
Have a super Turkey Day chica....I know you'll kick some butt tomorrow morning...but good luck anyway...have fun!!!
Thanks, K.

PS.. I can't attest to the taste yet, but I made the Ginger-Meringue pie last night and it looks fantabulous... made me think of you
Anything with Ginger in it has to be somewhat good, right? LOL

Thank you! Right back at you!
The race went well! I'll post a couple of pictures. I have only done 2 other races in my life and those were in the summer of 2007. They were 5K and my first time was 36:00 and the second was 35:00 (I am too lazy to go look at the exact numbers, right now). So, basically I was running a 12 minute mile. I finished this 4 mile race in 41:32 - running a 10:23 minute mile.
It was my brother, future SIL and myself. My brother has and I ended up running together and it went so well. We were able to keep a very similar pace and I just have to say how much I love my brother. He was the best cheerleader at a couple of crucial points. Also, we had put my cousin's name on the back of our shirts, because she has cerebral palsey and that is what the proceeds of this race goes to. So, we decided to run for her. Other runners would run by and yell her name or just cheer you on. It was the coolest atmosphere and I see me doing lots more running in my future.
I also like looking at the category results. Out of the age group 35 to 39, there were 37 women and I finished 20th. 200 people finished after me. Plus, it was fun. I definitely need to check out either some kind of arch supports or just go get my stride checked. I am a little sore and took today off, but it feels good.
Thanks for all your cheers. I did think of them while I was struggling up at the last hill. They mistakedly said the course was "fun and flat" to which we have been giggling about. Bytsi and Jane - it was around Polaris and the last stretch was right by Von Mauer. There is a nice damn hill there, LOL.
The past couple of days were just a little crazy around here. Lots of cooking, eating and a little shopping.
And, to be honest - it has been nice to eat and not stress myself out. I am back on tomorrow, but it has been a very much needed break.
Here is the 3 of us after the race.....
Here is one of the back of the shirts we made:

Ginger, that is an awesome time for your race. The last 5K I did there were power walkers passing me by....that's how slow I was "running"! LOL! Very good time, indeed, girlfriend!
I'm glad the brined turkey was a hit! It sure is with my family, so I'm happy yours was successful!!!
Ginger I am in tears looking at you three with your shirts. Congratulations on finishing the race for this cause! I really miss racing when I read your (and Wendy's) logs.... sigh....

Me too! How inspirational, and great job on the race itself! We knew you could do it!
How funny that so many of us made the ginger meringue pie! My daughter made it and it was really good, but same thing happened with us and the meringue "sweating" overnight. Tasted yummy though.

Well, I do think we got passed by a stroller or two. LOL
And yes, it was such a hit!

Yes, it is amazing the difference when you have people with you. I didn't my first 2 races and it shows in my level of motivation. I love my Brother and he really helped me pushed myself. I think I knocked down a couple of serious mental walls I had regarding running. Onward.
I did get my bloated butt to the gym this morning to get in some cardio, so I got to see some of the gym friends from the a.m. My plan is to do that on Mon, Wed and Fridays for a while.

You guys looked great - love the t-shirts! Awesome job on the race. I went out for a run Thursday morning and thought about all of you that were racing. Later that day I said to my in-laws maybe we should all do a 5k next year? First crickets......then laughter....I guess I am on my own with that one!
My gawd, Ginger....I SO hear you on the Thanksgiving bloat. BLEH! I've got to get my butt in gear. I am going to get my tunnel vision going again.....gotta get myself in shape for March!!!
Great job on the race Ginger! I love your pictures - you guys look like you had such a great time.
Aw, thanks Leah. I am loving your new avatar. Sweet!

LOL at the crickets. I can completely get that. But hey, if you decide to do one - you'll have an awesome cheering section!

I hear that. I am feeling better, minus the cookies. Baby steps.
My weight is back down and that is what matters.

Thanks, Anne! We did.
Well, I am doing a really poor job with getting my workouts posted in here. I need to get on that. Work has been crazy stressful, so I haven't been around here as much as I would like. I will make up for it on the weekend.
Last night was workout with Kali (I've been spelling her name wrong, LOL). She has a team for a 5K this Saturday and wants me to run with them. I am thinking about it. It would be a good thing. Plus, Saturday is my work party and I have plans to go and indulge in some drinks. It has been a looooooong time (minus a couple of coffee drinks) and I am due. The best part is that I have someone picking me up to take me and Andrew will meet me out later, after he gets off work. Which means I have a designated driver and that rarely ever happens. So, I plan on taking advantage of that.
I had intentions of getting to the gym this morning, but I woke up and was wide awake from 3:30 - 4:30 this morning, so the 5:15 alarm was turned off. No workout tonight, either.
Tomorrow morning is definitely a gym morning for some cardio and then I have a workout with a couple of gals tomorrow night.
Went shopping tonight with a gc from my Dad and got a cute sweater dress at Kohl's and a cute top to wear Saturday.
