Great new avi! It's funny that Lori's husband took it because it looks like it was taken in a studio--something about the background!
So what did you do at the gym last night? Hope you're feeling rested for LEG DAY.
Hey there! No, not a studio picture. We won't share that with Lori's hubby, he'll get cocky about his picture taking abilities.
Oh, last night was my night off. Tonight I am heading to the gym, probably will do some chest/tricep stuff and cardio. Then (dum..dum...dum...) tomorrow is leg day. I am just trying to prepare myself.

Thank you!
My next goal is to get an athletic picture of myself. So many of you ladies have cool avis with you doing something (besides my big-vodka induced grin) and I want one!

Ah, thank you Karen!
WOW. Thank you guys so much for the compliments, you really know how to make a girl feel good. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Ah! I am so out of the loop. Hopefully, tonight I’ll have a chance to log on and catch up with everyone and how you are doing. I hope everyone had a nice Easter!
So, Friday evening I did some cardio on the dreaded/but loved step mill
Saturday morning was my PT appointment and it was a leg day. Saturday, March 22nd
Supersets
Step-ups on a bench into a reverse lunge
10eX15 lbs, 10X15, 10X15
Front Squat
10X65lbs, 10X65, 10X65
Squats (these are much harder at the end of the workout)
10X95, 10X95, 10X95
This felt like a really short workout, but I was most definitely sore and fatigued. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, afterwards. Sunday, March 23rd – off Monday, March 24th – 60 minutes on the step mill and I know it is more cardio than I normally/should do, but let’s chalk it up to penance for some Easter splurge I had going on, plus I loaded a bunch of new tunes on my mp3, so it kept me going. Tuesday, March 25th
Upper body work
WU/Bench press on bench-12X45 WU, Tricep dips - 15XBW, Side Lat raises 10x12.5
Supersets
Chest press on floor w/70 lb bar
10X70, 10X70, 10X70
Front Raises
10X40, 10X40, 10X40
Skull crushers
10X40, 10X40, 10X40
Supersets
Rope/Face Pulls
10X80, 10X80, 10X80
Chest press machine
10X65, 10X65, 10X50
Lat machine (I didn’t pay attention to the weight)
10X?, 10x?, 10x?
Tricep rope pull downs
10X25, 10X25, 10X20
15 minutes on the step mill.

We had a great Easter. I made ffice:smarttags" />Lori’s Chicken Ratatouille recipe and it was wonderful. I felt good about it and then here comes, my Mom w/rolls, mashed potatoes (one of my fave comfort foods) and a yellow cake w/chocolate icing. Need I say more? I mean, I did better than I would have in the past but still……..
I got right back on track and am trying to not be all crazy about it, but it's just weird, I think.

Well, then, I won't mention the quiche, croissants, and lemon blueberry cake that we ate!
Looks like you've gotten right back on that horse, though... and everyone needs a break sometimes, right?

If it makes you feel any better, not only am I in workout detention until Thursday, but I ate 2 Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs on Easter, 4 mini Milky Way Caramels, and a handful of Jelly Beans! This is the last year I'm going to my sister's house for Easter!
And, I too, LOVE mashed potatoes!!!!
I love mashed taters, too! I can do just fine without them but I will be indulging around Thanksgiving each year. Life's just too short to go completely without mashed potatoes!

Right there too. We totally over bought candy for the boy's Easter basket. It wasn't quite "one for the basket, one for me" but it also wasn't too far off. At least he took most of his candy back to his mom's house.

Ahh potatoes in any form--mashed, roasted, hell, even boiled, are da best.
Tonight I made one of my new staples: "mashed cauliflower." It doesn't quite do it, but honestly, it's not a terrible stand-in for a random Tuesday night. Wouldn't try to slip it in on Thanksgiving, or anything.
Your workouts look great as always! And don't worry... we all splurged on Easter... but we're all gettin back at it this week. I was pretty good with my food quality-wise on easter (minus the dark choc M+Ms) but the quantity was what did me in! You're doin awesome, keep it up!
Count me as another who loves mashed potatoes! (That's almost the only thing I ate during my pregnancies and a love I seem to have passed along to both kids.)
Ah, can I get a woot woot, for my fellow mashed tater lovers! They are wonderful, for sure. Glad I am not alone in that.
Tuesday and Wednesday consisted of a little bit of cardio. This morning we did back and it was a really good workout. He had some straps that I used for my DLs and I liked them. My grip didn't give out as quick, which equals a less frustrated Ginger (which is a good thing) and I know there is some negativity about them, but I am buying myself a pair for the DLs.
I'll post my workout later.

Hi Tracey! I am good, sticking with my workouts and staying motivated. Thanks for checking on me!
Time to play catch up, again. *sigh* fficeffice" />
Thursday, March 27th
This was a back day and it was an absolute killer workout.
Friday was a little bit of cardio.
Saturday was an off day.
Sunday was a mixture workout. I didn’t really have a plan so to say, so I went in and did what I wanted to. I also did some cardio.
Monday was cardio.
Tuesday, April 1st
Leg day and I am sore.
Supersets
Static lunges 10 e. leg w/55 lbs
Straight legged DL
10X80, 10X80, 10X80
Squats
12X95
12X105
12X95
Supersets
My trainer’s special “butt squats”
10X55
10X65
10X65
Jump squats
20XBW
20XBW
20XBW
I did some cardio Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. I’m glad I did, because I was pretty dang tight and sore.
I also did a nice, long stretching session and it was wonderful. I have been very neglectful of any stretching, so I am vowing to do this a little more consistently.
My new gym friend Karen invited me to work out with her and our trainer for shoulders last night, so I did. Although she is lifting heavier weights, we are somewhat comparable in that department, so it was fun to work out with someone else there and I found that I pushed myself more.
We got there and said trainer has a deck of cards. Each suite stands for a different shoulder exercise and you do the number of the face value for reps. Lateral raises, front raises, rear delts and chest press. We used a variety of weights and went through the entire deck and he was nice enough to add on walkouts to the end (3 sets of 10XBW)
Did 30 minutes of cardio and called it a day.
The kiddos were asking for pancakes for dinner last night and for selfish reasons, I didn’t want to make them but I did. After I made theirs, I mixed up some more batter, added some protein, flax seed oil and psyllium husk (which I have been using for some digestive issues) made 2 pancakes and used some natural, sugar free applesauce as the topping. They were so good, I am having one now.
This morning was a back workout. I finally got some cute, flat, Pumas and they definitely help me on leg and back day. They are as ugly as can be, but that is ok.
Supersets of the following:
Bent over Rows
10X60, 10X60, 10X60
Lat pulldown
10X70, 10X75, 10X70
Deadlifts
10X135, 10X135, 10X135
DB Rows
10eX30, 10eX30, 10eX30
Reverse grip lat pulldown
10X60, 10X60, 10X70
I did one more set of DLs to finish off
DL – 10X135
Tonight I plan on doing some cardio to keep things loose and to do another good stretch session in.
I am feeling good. My food could always be better, I still struggle with getting in enough off the good stuff. My protein intake is better so that is an improvement.
I think I am permanently making the change from NROL4W to the workouts my trainer has put together for me. I will add that to the official challenge thread, too.

The deck of cards thing sounds really interesting! Maybe I'll try that when I work out with the boy next. Those DL and squat weights are soo impressive! You're kickin butt girl! And it's awesome that you like your trainer and are going to switch to his workouts, very cool indeed. Keep us posted on how it goes!

It really was fun and it was different, which is nice. Thank you.

What is a butt squat?
Thanks, Karla.
Ok, let me try to describe the lovely butt squat. I’d like to preface this by saying that we do use the Smith machine for this exercise and I know people have issues with this. We also use a BOSU half ball thingy. I guess I am just asking for no flames in my log.
Ok, so for this I am standing inside the Smith machine in a front squat position with the bar across my upper chest, elbows crossed. Directly underneath me, is the Bosu and I take a huge step outward, so that my feet are together in front of the Bosu ball. My legs are pretty much angled, but you bend at the knees when you go down. . Squat down until my bum hits (not bounces) the Bosu, come back up. Does that make sense?!?
Made it to spinning class this morning, I have been really enjoying it and they have an early class on M,W and F. I may do something this evening, not so sure about that.
