thanks for checking in.

acutally i'm not on any program or dieting anymore.

after going from one extreme to the next with my diet (low low cals to 4 days of straight binging) i realizing i've been fighting my body for over 4 yrs, i've decided to just take some time to accept my body as it is, to learn to listen to my body's hunger signals again and not eat by a clock or in "magical" numbers or patterns.

Ok, that's fine...but you're not totally giving up are you?

Afterall, there is fat-loss dieting and then there is sensible eating diet. Often times, the hunger signals come when we eat stuff that doesn't really satiate the nutritional needs. Those that are food type orientated (sweet tooth for example) can be over come with some sensible substitutes.

Even then, working out is in your best interest.

You're still young, might as well stay on top of it, because it only gets harder as you get older. At 43, I know.

oh don't get me wrong, i'm still eating healthy, and working out.
the difference is that i'm not following any specific diet guidelines (counting calories, macros, points, restricting certain foods, etc.) i'm just eating healthy.

i'm not following and specific program either. i'm am lifting three times a week and getting back into running(which is my true love).

so no, i haven't given up. staying healthy is of the upmost importance to me.

i've always wanted to do a 5 or 10k but tend to chicken out when it comes down to it. perhaps this year i'll get up the nerve to actually run one.

Do it!

Set a goal to run it, regardless of placing and finishing. Just set a goal to sign up and be at the starting line.

I think if you do it once, you'll see it's no big deal and it'll get more comfortable.

I'M BAAAAAACK

after a bit of a "break" from the madness of dieting and too much structure, i'm back.

i did my first workout of stage one on wednesday

i'm eating lower calories on my off days and higher calories on workout days, but my calories are lower than those recommended in the book.

i'm also shooting for a more general range of fat carb and protein. i know it makes no sense, but to me, giving myself a range each day is much more mentally easy than giving myself one target.

today was an off day. eats were good lowerish carbs, higherish fat, moderate protein. total cals were 1350.

tomorrow i'm up an at em at 6am to eat breaky and get my workout in. then i'll be spending the morning packing up my car and the afternoon making the 8 hr move to my new apartment yay!

next week the plan is to turn my "off" days during the week into running days. i plan on doing two lifting days and three running days. i'm going to do the couch to 5k program for that and potentially run a 5k this summer

Good ole' sensible eating will serve you better if you have trouble counting cals or restricting carbs. You tend to eat a farmfield of veggies, so that's a big +.

How's the state of your occupation?

you make a very good point. infact, the last three days, i have just been going with the flow with my eating (not counting cals or anything) and i think i'm doing well.

i'm no longer supply teaching in the niagara area. i moved back up north with my fiance and i'm going to be supply teaching here. i'm having a hard time deciding if teaching is the career for me. i like the idea of it, but i know all the hours and work involved as a contract teacher and just thinking about all that persuades me away from it. i dunno. i'll figure it out sometime.
