Hi, Leah!

Your workouts are awesome!!! Keep up that good work!

I have to ask you about one of your meals that you posted. Is the pesto, pancetta, and asiago chicken a recipe that you make? If so, would you mind posting it? It just sounds delicious!!!

We already have plans to meet my sister, my uncle and some of his friends on Saturday May 3rd and go for a motorcycle ride to a seafood restaurant that isn't too far from where we live.
May 3rd for the first camping trip! Lucky you. We usually hold off until at least Memorial Day since it can get so cold at night.
And the upcoming ride to the seafood place sound divine. I love riding all day and stopping at a great restaurant.

Thanks! I definitely think you are right on the superset. No matter what the book says, it just doesn't make sense that way. The A workout has the dips as straight sets, then the ab work, so I'll do the C workout that way from now on.

Hey Stephanie -

The recipe is from the TNT book. You take boneless skinless chicken breasts and slather them with pesto. Then brown them in olive oil. Set them aside. Then cut up the pancetta into little pieces and brown it in the skillet. (I think I used 4 oz.) Then add a can of diced tomatoes, a small can of tomato sauce, and italian seasonings and salt and pepper. Bring that to a simmer and throw the chicken back in and simmer until its cooked through. Then top each chicken breast with a thin slice of asiago and cover until it melts. It has a lot of sauce, so I made pasta for Shawn and spaghetti squash for me to soak up the tomato sauce.

Today:
160.0 25% BF

This was my first early morning workout. When I got there, there were only two cars in the parking lot. No one came in the weight room until I was almost done lifting!

Hyp II A3

Superset barbell reverse-grip bent over row, barbell bench press, 3x12, 60 sec rest

70/12 65/12
70/12 70/12
70/12 70/12

Superset of wide-grip cable seated row, dumbbell incline bench press - palms facing in, 3x12, 60 sec rest

90/12 20's/12
90/12 25's/12
90/12 25's/12

Dips between benches, 3x12, 60 sec rest

BW/12
BW/12
BW/12 - Painful but do-able!

Swiss ball crunch, 3x12, 60 sec rest

15lb/12
15/12
15/12

Food:

Pre/post workout: 2.5 scoops vanilla whey, water, ice

After workout: sausage mcmuffin w/egg minus the muffin - A guilty pleasure! Unfortunately when I got to work I checked on the internet and it did not even have 20 g of protein! This is one problem for me with a morning workout. If I am supposed to eat again within 30 to 60 minutes of the workout I have to either stop or pack something since it takes me an hour and 20 minutes to get to work. I'll have to plan this out better.

Morning snacks: string cheese, 1 oz almonds

Lunch: leftover chicken and spaghetti squash

Afternoon snack: salad w/tuna and balsamic dressing

Dinner: italian sausage w/spinach and feta

Evening: 1st group martial arts class!

Shawn also wants to go for a ride this evening and I am going to feel guilty if I don't vote, so it looks like I am going to be busy!

Maybe a protein shake would help with your pw-nutrition.

And I'm guessing as the weather warms up the gym will gradually empty out a bit.

I think you're right. I should have just made a 3-scoop shake and did a third before, a third after, then the rest after 30 minutes. I am hoping to see improved results from paying more attention to the around the workout nutrition, but the requirements for the TNT plan are a little cumbersome for me.

The gym does empty out of adults as it gets hotter since the A/C doesn't work so well, but kids come home from college. Luckily I can do two workouts out of the three for Hyp II with my home equipment.

Last night I was so exhausted by the time I got home from work I didn't want to do anything! It sucked. I didn't go to the martial arts class, or ride, or do anything. Basically just ate dinner and went to bed. Lame. I know tonight will be better since I went to sleep before 9, but I just hate feeling like I lost a beautiful evening! If I don't sleep close to 8 hours I just feel like crap.

Today:
159.6 25% BF

Food:
Breakfast: 1 oz almonds, omelet w/chicken sausage, feta, and broccoli

Morning snack / Lunch / Afternoon snack: I brought 2 portions of chicken w/asiago & pancetta and spaghetti squash - I'll split this up into three "meals" - not so exciting, but quick and easy

Dinner: italian sausage w/spinach and feta - I am trying this out on the stovetop since the over at Shawn's is broken - hopefully it will be equally good that way.

Sorry... not lame though - gotta listen to your body, right?

I'm bummed though - I was so excited to hear all about the class! Next week, yes?

I remember the gym being like a ghost town in the middle of summer!

Sorry to hear you had a "blah" night last night, but the good night's sleep last night means you'll have energy tonight!!! I know what you mean about the 8 hours - I'm the same way. Less than about 8 hours and I'm worthless!!!

Actually we were planning on going to two classes per week and the next one is tomorrow so I dont' have to wait too long! We got some punching mits so we can practice tonight. After our last private lesson they gave us a sheet, which I neglected to read until I was sitting at the table around 5 AM Monday. It said you have to wear clean shoes, and you should come to the first class prepared to do everything we learned with the left foot forward using a right foot forward stance as well, since they teach both. We went shoe shopping Monday night, but Shawn kinda freaked out about the opposite foot thing and was like, I'm not ready!

The worst is, Shawn doesn't need as much sleep as I do and he is a night owl, where I am a morning person. So I always end up feeling guilty for going to bed!

Really? You guys wear shoes!?!?!? We have to go barefoot!!! It's kinda icky some nights, but if you say anything to Sensei about sweat or germs... well... let's just say it's not a pretty sight when he gets pissed off!

Glad you have another shot on Thursday! Don't worry TOO much about the left and right thing - I promise other people will screw up in class too!

Shoes?! What are these "shoes" you speak of? We're barefoot, too, on a hardwood floor. Knuckle pushups on hardwood = fun. Really.

Right and left, ha! Most days, I can't even tell my right from my left. And sometimes, I can learn something really well on one side and yet hardly be able to do it on the other. I basically have to learn everything twice, once per side. But it is important to practice on the other side--you can't always dictate which way an opponent will move, so you need to be able to work in any direction.

I think we all have nights like that. It's a good thing you listened to your body though because you may have had other issues creep up on you. I'm like you in that I NEED my 8 hours. With getting up by 5 a.m. every morning, you better believe that I'm in bed by 9 every night......well, every night except Thursdays because Lost is on....lol

Diane - Take Kelly's advice! That beautiful orange squash is your friend.

Hey I don't mind at all. Good luck with TNT. So far I really like it and I can see myself eating this way for a long time.

Hey Karen if it gets you invited, you can't go wrong! Being out in the sunshine on a beautiful course with beer and hot dogs and your girlfriends - what could be better!

Yesterday's workout:

Hyp II C2

Superset of close-grip chins and barbell shoulder press, 5x6, 90 sec rest

BW/4 + 2 neg 65/6
BW/3 + 3 neg 65/6
BW/2.5 + 3 neg 65/5
BW/2 + 4 neg 60/6
BW/1 + 5 neg 60/6

I am excited about these chin-ups! I wasn't sure how many I would actually be able to do.

Superset of band-assisted wide grip pull-ups and dumbbell chek press, 5x6, 90 sec rest

sm band/5 15's/6
md band/6 20's/6
md/6 20's/5
md/6 15's/6
md/6 15's/6

Superset towels biceps curl and upper-body russian twist, 5x6, 90 sec rest

15's/6 BW/12ea
15's/6 BW/12ea
10's/6 BW/12ea
10's/6
10's/4

I'm not sure if I did this right. Maybe it wasn't supposed to be a superset since there are more sets of the curl than the twist. I'll have to go back and check the book.

Today's food:

Breakfast: 1/2 flax bread w/peanut butter, omelet w/italian sausage, peppers, onions, and mushrooms, cheddar cheese, a couple slices pepper bacon

Lunch: leftover taco skillet

Dinner: grilled ribeye steak and sauteed brussels sprouts - I love steak, I love brussels sprouts, I love TNT!

Evening snack: a few almonds

On the flax bread - this tasted pretty weird to me, not gross, just weird. I definitely did not feel it was the low carb answer to bread. Now I feel like I have to eat more because the bottle of flax meal was $8. I think I will play around and see if I can change up the recipe to turn out something tastier.
Great job on the chins and presses. You are one strong woman.

That's gotta be tough! Kevin and I are pretty much on the same schedule. It was funny the other night (it was a Saturday) our son was coming home to change clothes so he could go out - and we were on our way upstairs to go to bed! It was about 10:30pm!

He called us old, changed his clothes, and out he went - and off to sleep we went!
