I've missed a lot of workouts, lately and I'm still making progress. The key is not to let it get you down. You get down on one aspect and you stop keeping up with the other aspects.
It's hard for me when the missed workout is from something stupid. I tend to cave on the food, too. I've been doing okay, this last couple of weeks, though, despite a lot of missed or delayed workouts.

Great squat numbers, Ray. And FBG of 95 is kickass -- down into normal non-diabetic territory. I'm hoping that this becomes commonplace and you're able to keep it down in that range.
The babes (the ones without a medical background, anyway...) might not be that impressed with the bloodwork numbers, but it means you'll be around a lot longer to enjoy their company!

Yup....when I'm soaking my dentures iin a bedside glass of water at the old foggies home, and the cute young teeny bopper fluffs my pillow, she can tell me how much she admires my glucose readings!
Seriously, thanks Bill. I'm hoping I'm on a trend with the FBG numbers. And the squat number I was amazed by. Last time I squatted, the 220 lbs were very demanding! The fact that I was able to do 10 at 240 lbs left me in awe...and completely destroyed my legs for the rest of the day and the next as well. But it was a great feeling!

Wow....been too long since an update. But sadly there is not much to update. My wife, son and I have all been miserably sick with the flu, and we have had several mornings with freezing rain making it hard to get to the gym mornings before work.
Tomorrow is jury duty.... guilty!
I promise to get back on the wagon! This lax attitude/issues need to go away.

Well, I hope I'm back in the saddle again. Let's see if I can overcome all these temporary setbacks I've had.
This morning was a great workout, upper body, at my gym. Cold morning, but I made it there and was full of energy!
My usual opening routine, followed by:
Rows: 3 sets of 10 x 60 lbs
Bench Press: 3 sets of 10 x 115 lbs
Pulldown: 3 sets of 10 x 80 lbs
Overhead Press; 2 sets of 10 x 40 lbs; 7 x 40 lbs (just couldn't do it!)
Flys: 3 sets of 10 x 30 lbs
Lateral Raise: 3 sets of 10 x 30 lbs
Followed by a few minutes of cool down on the cardio bike and some stretches, then that nice steamy hot shower.
Haven't been checking my fasting glucose levels, but I know I'm doing well. I'm sleeping all night long with no midnight trips to the bathroom, my thirst is ok, my moods are stable, etc etc. My diet has been clean (for the most part) with only a couple of slips....those chips and salsa, and the ice cream sunday; otherwise I've been doing good.
This has been a really bad, disappointing month for my challenge. I expect to see some set backs, since my workouts have been infrequent, due to my sickness, family sickness making it impossible for me to get to my gym some mornings, several mornings of freezing rain and cars with frozen door locks. March will be an all out balls-to-the-wall effort!
I am seeing some improvements in my triceps, and calves. Also outer quads are starting to become noticable when I'm showering right after my workout; good pump on those. Eating clean is becoming more of a habit now. AND.....most outstanding of all....perhaps my most significant development....my 9 year old son has started counting his fruits and veggies, and has started denouncing junk food! Since he has a lifetime ahead of him, this may very well be the most valuable thing to come out of this challenge, for me personally! To see that I have made an influence on him. Now....can it last???

Yup....almost 10. Just because there is snow on the roof doesn't mean there isn't a fire burning in the fireplace.....well, at least for one night anyway!

Thinking back, nine is a great age for kids. They're independent enough that you don't have to watch them constantly and they still believe most of what you tell them. Enjoy, the teens are coming.

Good morning world. Here's my first workout for March. Starting out slow, since I've had some issues lately. I'm still in though....not going to quit.
Started out with the usual opening act, followed by lower body work.
Squats: 3 sets of 10 x 220 lbs
Deads: 3 sets of 10 x 120 lbs
Hip Extensions: 3 sets of 10 x 145 lbs each leg
Calf Press: 3 sets of 10 x 150 lbs
Abs: 2 sets of 10 x 80 lbs; 10 x90 lbs
I am going to skip the pictures this month, since I only had 5 workouts all last month, there is no real progress to record. And I need to do whatever I can to lessen the daily burdens on me; this is but one small issue that is not important to me at this time. So....sorry, but no pics this month!

I'd suggest posting pictures regardless, if you want to keep an honest record of your journey, as well as keep in the challenge.

Remember that the point of pictures is to show your journey - where you've been. If they show progress and make you feel good, so much the better. If they don't, then it provides incentive to take action. Either way, this log isn't Ray's Greatest Hits, but rather Ray's Discography. It will make the success that much sweeter based on how hard you had to work for it. Triumphing in the face of adversity is what champions do.

Upon reflecting over night....ok....pictures will be coming. They'll be late, but none the less, they will be here. Probably over the weekend.

Good morning, brothers and sisters! My fasting blood glucose was 101 this morning; first time I've taken it in over a week. Considering the emotional rollercoaster I've been on lately, I'm shocked that it was that low.
Upper body workout this morning.
Overhead Press: 2 sets of 10 x 40 lbs, 7 x 40 lbs
Pulldown: 3 sets of 10 x 85 lbs (weight increase)
Bench Press: 2 sets of 10 x 120 lbs, 7 x 120 lbs (weight increase)
Row: 3 sets of 10 x 70 lbs (weight increase)
Lateral Raise: 3 sets of 10 x 30 lbs
flys: 10 x 50, 10 x 60, 10 x 70 lbs
DOMS from lower body workout of yesterday....quads are killing me!
Gosh it feel good whan I work out!
