This is why you should go to a barber... an old-school guy who talks about sports and politics while he cuts your hair.

Yeah but if he did that how would he bring his hairdresser good luck and find out if her son was gay?

(Sometimes I am glad that I just shave my head)

Well, I actually need a haircut every 3 weeks. But I'm a dude so I stretch it to six.

Lifted yesterday:

--Front Squat* (6/1/6/1/10-12/15-20, 311, 180RI) - 6 @ 95lbs, 1 @ 100lbs (super slow), 6 @ 100lbs, 1 @ 110lbs (super slow), 10 @ 75lbs, 15 @ 75lbs

SUPERSET
--Bulgarian split squat (3x15ea, 311, 0RI) - 15 @ BW, 15 @ BW, 12 @ BW
--Step-ups (3x15ea, 311, 90RD) - 15 @ BW, 15 @ BW, 15 @ BW

SUPERSET
--back extension (2x10, 222, 90RI) - 10 @ 10-lb plate, 10 @ 10-lb plate
--Swiss ball crunch (2x10, 222, 90RI) - 10 @ 10-lb plate, 10 @ 10-lb plate

* The power rack was taken back-to-back-to-back by three different guys, so I used DBs for the front squats. Couldn't go as heavy as I can with the BB, so I just did slow reps for the singles. I know this isn't the idea but it's the best I could do. Also, I know it ain't right to use the same weight for the sets of 10 and 15, so I'll bump up the weight for the set of 10. Still getting the hang of this after avoiding lower body compound work for several months. But I like having a healthy knee/leg again.

Lifting again today, then have a decision to make. Monday is another charity golf tournament (tough job). My Monday workout was supposed to be Workout C, which is hip dominant (DL, good mornings, etc...). Last time I did this was one day after golf, and my lower back no likey.

I have two choices. First, I can do the workout on Sunday, giving me 24 hours to recover a little and play golf. Or I can play golf and then do the workout on Tuesday, pretty much like last time. I'm leaning toward the former to get the most of my workout, even if my golf suffers. The tournament is a 4-man scramble, so there's not quite so much pressure since I'm not playing my own ball all day.

Stressful decisions, I tell ya.

I would do the golfing first and the workout a few days later. Afterall it is ALL about winning right?

Hmm... your point is making me reconsider.

See, if I come away with enough swag I'm thinking about going to Golfsmith and trading it in for a new set of clubs. I've never had new clubs. Mine are 15 years old to me, and were already bought used. I'm ready to join the 21st Century of golf technology. But only with a lot of trade-in value!

All the more reason to save your game for the game. Your body will thank you for not beating the hell out of it and you will have new tools to boot. Of course then you have to work double hard on the workouts so that you can win the challenge. 'cause it is ALL about the winning, right?

I'm with Karla.

What's the point of being bad ass if you're not even winning at golf?

We workout to be better at life, but then put life on the back burner to workout?

I'll say "I" in this example, but I mean you... I workout to look awesome. I don't think that I look awesome enough to play a shitty game of golf and have my opponents still think "Look how awesome Roland looks. It's a shame we just kicked his ass at golf."

So, that being said, play the best game you can, kick ass, then, when they're complaining about aches and pains, say "I'm off to the gym."

You're right. And I have to respect your opinion since you already look awesomer than me. Maybe golf is all I got!

Instead of a new set of clubs and winning the men's challenge, I'll be more realistic. Maybe a pitching wedge and not being fat?

Thanks guys -- it's very rare I actually put workouts at such a high priority. Had me all screwy in the head. But it's just so much dang fun to be healthy again.

I kinda phrased it weird. I was meaning to put us both on the same level. Although, I can't play ANY sports, so you've totally got me beat in that dept. All I have is my beauty...

That makes sense, because you're five pounds lighter than me and your lifts are 2x the amount I can lift...

Maybe we can just agree that we're both beautiful?

None of which matters on the golf course or that little pitching hill thing... ...sexy!

Beauty in men is all about those dimples!! :swoon: But meanwhile I say go for the workout. Golf is the ruination of a perfectly good walk. I think that's a Mark Twain quote.

Thanks, but Karla and Roland already sold me. Granted, it's easy to sell me on the idea of not working out, but now I'm coming into today's golf event fully rested.

Mark Twain died before the golf cart innovation really took off. It might've changed his mind about the sport.

Oh yeah, I lifted Friday. Here are the delayed numbers:

SUPERSET
--DB neutral grip bench press (6/1/6/1/10, 311, 180RI) - 6 @ 45lbs, 1 @ 65lbs, 6 @ 50lbs, 1 @ 70lbs, 10 @ 45lbs
--Bent-over DB row (6/1/6/1/10-12, 311, 180RI) - 6 @ 50lbs, 1 @ 80lbs, 6 @ 65lbs, 1 @ 85lbs, 10 @ 50lbs

SUPERSET
--close-grip lat pulldown (2x8, 311, 120RI) - 8 @ 120, 8 @ 140
--DB shoulder press, neutral grip (2x8, 311, 120RI) - 8 @ 35, 8 @ 35

Roman chair knee lifts (2x10, 101, 90RI) - 10 @ BW, 10 @ BW

He's probably teeing off right now, so we'll know how he did around 5ish tonight.

He got to order the clubs he wanted from the Nike Wholesale store that they had set up. So no matter how he plays today he'll consider today a success.
