Bytsi, you have her books? I spent a couple hours last night and today reading threads about FLTS, etc. and I think I'm going to take the plunge and buy the package. I've read her posts and she sounds sensible in her approach. Not to mention I've been working on this forever, working out like a madwoman, getting discouraged/tired/starving, starting over, overdoing, and then doing all that again . The plans sound doable and progressive which is something I totally need and something I can work with.
Today was general activity: a little house cleaning, 2 mile walk with dog, 4 mile bike ride with kids, 45 minutes shooting baskets. No stick picking, but we're back to that tomorrow.
Also, Stage 7 #2:
Barbell incline bench press:
2 sets of 40/8
Seated row:
2 sets of 25s/8
Dumbbell squat, heels raised on plates:
4 sets of 20s/20
Underhand grip assisted pull-up:
6 light band/14 heavy band
5 light/15 heavy
5 light/15 heavy
4 light/16 heavy
Workout notes:
~I did all the rests exactly how it says in the book and I was pouring sweat by the end.
~I don't know why, but I can not do those bench presses with heavier weight. Makes me feel like such a wimp.
~I know my strength has increased since starting this program because that heavy assistance pull-up band is downright scary now. I put my knee in and it feels like I'm going to shoot straight to the ceiling with that much assistance compared to the light band I have been using.
Anyway, as I mentioned above, I am finishing this program (because I started it and I'm so close to the end that I can practically taste it ) I think I'm going to get Leigh's e-books and decide my next program according to what I find out about myself there. I've decided I'd like to lose fat, then move on to my other goals. I have read everything I can find, thought about it for about 24 hours now, written down my goals and what I'd like to accomplish, how much time I have, etc. and I think this approach will help me reach my goals. From the results others are getting and reading Leigh's posts, I really think that it's something I can follow and understand the whys and wherefores, which would be a tremedous help to me right now.
(Well, that was kind of long and ramble-y, but hopefully you all understood what I was trying to say.)

I do have the books, and really like 'em. One major reason is that I see the results here on the boards. What she says makes sense - but so many things make sense on paper... it's what works in REAL LIFE that matters. Leigh's results are proven, IMHO.
I understand your desire to finish NROLW - I'm the same way... in stage 5 (maybe skipping ahead soon) and I WILL do 6 and probably 7... but I also have to be careful now not to work so hard that I overeat. HUGE point Leigh has driven home with me...
Keep us posted - I love seeing what everyone's doing and how it works out for them!
Hi Karen! Just wanted to pop in and say hello and that a) you have an awesome back, b) you have made such great changes, you look awesome! and c) great workouts in stage 7!
I hope you like the books! I'm looking forward to seeing what program you decide to do next. I'm not sure what to do now either.

Oh, Bytsi, I had a DUH moment there . . . I knew you had those books because I read your log and all your questions on the FLTS thread in Training Discussion.
Yeah, I'm more convinced by the results here as so many have had the same type of experience that I have. I totally hear you on the working so hard that you overeat.

Thanks, Marty. I'm not minding posting the pictures as much as I used to. I'm actually even starting to notice the changes, too, and I really didn't see them for months. I'm still reading everything I can and trying to decide on a program.
Okay, I'm going to start reading the e-books, but I've got to go get printer ink because I am so much more a paper book person than an e-book person.
I am a little concerned about having to do rest for repair, but will have to keep reading. I honestly don't have a break until it is snowing again in fall/winter. All my days will involve stick picking and landscaping as we need to finish our yard and DH wants the sticks/branches/trees cleared so we can plant pasture grass and build fences for our horses to have that extra grazing and running room.
Today was general activity: 2 hours stick picking, 1 hour pulling weeds (I hate pulling weeds and they've survived the late snow so much better than my flowers did), 2 miles bike riding, 1 mile brisk walk (I'm averaging just under 13 minutes per mile which is exciting for me!)
(I'm averaging just under 13 minutes per mile which is exciting for me!)
Okay, just to elaborate on this lest I look like a pathetic moron for being so pleased with a 13-minute mile, I never get to walk by myself and always have kids or dogs with me, so my usual times are closer to 20 minutes per mile.

Yes, I've got the ebooks and the new printer ink, but have run out of time to print them out until maybe tomorrow. Which is the first time I'm going to have a chance for a workout, too. (WTH am I doing here then, right ? At this point I just wanted to use this extra half hour of time to check in here and see what everyone is up to.)
Workouts this week are practically non-existent. I've been working outside or at the office, except for Tuesday which I had to use all my time not outside for running errands like food and house maintenance shopping.
I was a printing fool when I bought the package, LOL. I had one printer crap out of ink, carried my photo printer (read: very expensive ink) upstairs to continue printing, all while freaking out that maybe I would only have "access" to print the thing one time or something. LOL Oh, then I ran out of white paper and had to resort to a stack of colors (pink, purple, yellow, etc.). Needless to say, my first time purchasing an e-book was more than eventful.
I'll be anxious to see what you think. I had emailed Leigh a very long, detailed question after reading the FLTS just to make sure I was on the right track and I thought it was pretty cool that she took the time to 1)read my crazy, long email and 2)to take the time to respond, pretty detailed.
Anyways, here I am rambling in your log. I'll just be anxious.

That's funny. She's great about answering questions.
I struggled with the rest thing, too, Karen. I totally was not into it, and then when I started coming around I was worried about all the walking I have to do around the city since I don't have a car. I think anything you HAVE to do for your daily life is fine as long as you're not adding stuff on top of that.
BTW - I was THRILLED when I ran my first 13 minute mile. And ... now I'm at 12 minute miles. So very slow.

Eh... running faster is over-rated! At least we're out there doing it! My standard pace before I stopped running (my back hurt, my feet hurt, my knees hurt - I stay in "one piece" much better without running!) was 12-13 minute miles... My PR's are 29-ish on a 5k, and one 40min 4 mile race (but I was near this woman I can't stand and almost died trying not to let her pass me!!!)
Drive by post on the way to work again, but here goes:

Thank goodness I'm not the only one . I don't even know for sure that I'll run out of ink, but it's a new printer without indicators of how much ink is left (or I can't figure it out if there is). So, really, like you, I just want to make sure I can get the job done without more problems.

Thanks, Marty. I guess that's a good thing because otherwise life would always get in the way of rest and REPAIR, huh? As if thinking that "stopping workouts=fat" wasn't enough.

Bytsi, I would totally do that, too. The more you dislike someone the harder it is to just let them pass you .
General activity the last couple of days, but wanted to get a workout in today to offset going out to dinner for our anniversary tonight and to get finished with Stage 7 right before final challenge photos are due.
Nice long stretching to work out the kinks after WO was over.
Workout notes: ~I started out strong and got shaky in the middle, so I knew I was going to have to either lower my weights or lengthen my sets. In the interest of getting finished with the workout more quickly, I lowered my weights.
So, I finally got my ebooks printed out, but it was not without drama. First, the printer refused to work. I don't have a manual for this printer, but I kept getting messages that "the document did not print"--no kidding, right? I can see that . But, I kept opening the top to see what's wrong, checked the ink cartridges and they are at least half full. Not to mention that the ink register thing keeps stopping at the happy face when I open it and when I press the ink button it prints out a sheet that shows the print quality and everything looks perfect.
So, then I start checking all my cables and it turns out one of the kids dropped something behind the printer and the cable is the tiniest bit loose. I try again to print and wa-la!, we're in business.
I load the printer up with paper and everything is going along smoothly and then . . . the electricity goes out ! It only lasts about ten seconds, but obviously, the computer shuts off and I have to start it again, figure out where I was and start over from there.
Finally, I've got everything printed out and am good to go when DH comments that I should just buy a book and why would I be printing something I can read on the computer when it's going to cost about $10 to print it out? No, I tell him, I did buy it and I have to print it out so I can make notes on it, but bookmarks in, etc. (We won't go into DH's thoughts on ebooks here ) Anyway, it's not going to cost $10 to print it out, but it might cost that by the time I get everything spiral-bound so I don't have to spend a couple hours hole punching everything , so I don't argue with him about that.
Sometime later today I hope to get started on really reading my new stuff rather than just skimming it. Then, by the beginning of next week at the latest, I'll have a plan on what I'm going to next. I've already started making notes and listed the questions I have, so I figure that's a good start.
Although the colour is different, this picture could be either of mine. They can't get at the (newer) laser printer, but I had to move the ink jet up to a shelf so they didn't screw the paper up when it was printing.
I'm not reading as fast as I'd like to because life keeps getting in the way, but I'm working on it.
This week is one of the worst weeks of the year for me as far as avoiding food temptations and it's very frustrating with pics coming due on Monday. I have our anniversary, 4th of July picnic, and my daughter's birthday this week so there's no way to avoid buffet-style and buffet-sized foods. I'm starting to think the best I can do this week is maintenance so I'm aiming for that.
Still keeping the NEAT because that's unavoidable, too. Also, will do the second to last stage 7 workout today, too.
I've read and done the quizzes, temperature taking, etc in Metabolic Repair and I think I'm going to do the Fat Loss Troubleshoot program with OPT for Fat Loss. Not only does Leigh state to do the FLTS program first in Metabolic Repair, but after the reading and testing, I think I'm level 1, level 2 at worst. So, FLTS it is. So, I'm going to finish the last workout in Stage 7 right in time to finish the challenge and move on.

Can't wait to see how OPT works for you - keep us posted!

The photos are not the same size, but hopefully you get the idea. (No matter what size I tell Photobucket, it just puts them however it feels like it.)

Will do!

Congrats! We also have our anniversary, a kid birthday, plus the 4th festivities within one week's time right now. Good times but scary on the eats!
So, you know exactly how hard this past week has been with food.

Thanks, Marty! Yes, 8 pounds and I'm thinking about 5-8 to go. I'm looking forward to OPT and doing an actual fat loss program, not to mention straight sets after all these months of mostly supersets.
Okay, good news----I finished ! Yes, it took me exactly six months from start to finish, but I am DONE and I completed every workout and then some! Here it is:
Stage 7 #6
Barbell deadlift:
warm-up 30/10 60/6
100/8
100/6
Dumbbell squat, heels raised on plates:
4 sets of 20s/20
Assisted chin-up:
8.5 light band/12 heavy band
6 light/14 heavy
5.5 light/15 heavy
4 light/16 heavy
One last thing before I get started on posting info for OPT and then the next challenge. Is everyone starting new training logs or keeping the one they already have?

Congrats on finishing the whole program!
I don't know what everyone else is doing, but I am keeping the same log. I really wish I could rename it, but I don't want lose this entire past 6 months.
