Okay, I'm back. I need to be back. Badly.

Last week, the kids were getting constant headaches and then my youngest started throwing up and couldn't stop, couldn't even keep down sips of water. That was the last straw and I went out and bought the biggest 110-plug a/c I could get. Not anywhere near enough to cool our house but it did help cut the heat and humidity just enough to allow us to sleep a bit at night and it gave us a spot to sit in during the day to cool off -- right in front of it. LOL

This week, hubby's job in the opposite corner of the state came to an end so he's home now. He wired up a 220 plug and got an old, bigger a/c (mostly) running as well. Between the two of them, it pretty much stays below 95 during the day (below 90 on the cooler days) and is downright chilly at night! Woot!

With the ability to cool off, I've been able to further control my sickness. I have to eat every hour and can only eat certain things -- and there are so many aversions! -- but I'm functional once again. Yay! I'm still tired as crap but, from past pregnancies, that'll ease off in another month or two. So, it's time to start getting back into gear!

Eats plan: Whatever the crazy, hormonal bod dictates. I can't really do anything else right now anyway. I'll gain too much weight (already have gained some back but it sure beats puking everything up) but it always comes off easily afterwards so I'm not too worried.

Workout plan: For August, I'm going to ease back in gently. I'm still hot, tired, and have a constant low-level nausea so I just don't really give a crap about working out hard right now. I just want to get back into the habit since I've been off for a month. So, I think I'll shoot for two days of low-intensity cardio, even slow walking if that's all I feel like I can do. And another two days of *some sort of workout* -- weights or a simple bodyweight thing -- whatever as long as I do something. So, four days per week of easy exercise for the month of August.

I'll re-evaluate my plan for September based on how I'm feeling then.

On a side note, I've backed out of both challenges. It would just cause too much stress right now because I'd hold myself to a too-high standard, not allowing any flexibility based on how the pregnancy is going. And I need to give myself permission to slack a bit right now. (I know, I'm so weird!) I'll still take occasional pics and do stats because they help keep me in line. I'll definitely be up for joining a challenge next year!!

Welcome back! Glad the a/c is helping - yikes! I'm very a/c dependent, even add a fan at night just to be sure I'm REALLY cool enough to sleep! Can't imagine being pg and sick without air... bleh!

Can't wait to see pics of the growing belly! My friend at work is due in Nov. and I got to feel a little kick yesterday - I was smiling all day - it's just so cool!!!

Glad to see things are on the up and up! I hope you at least get your energy back soon. I hate being exhausted all the time, it's so frustrating.

I like your plan, I think it makes perfect sense. You need to take care of yourself and just get through it, not put a bunch of extra pressure to make things worse. Keep us up to date!

I am so glad you are getting a little relief and I do understand why you aren't doing the challenges.
I agree with the fan suggestion. We keep a couple of cheapie 10 dollar box fans right in front of our a.c. vents and it really helps circulate the air.
Glad you are back. I miss ya.

Glad your back!!! Have missed your humor and wild stories. In heat like that the only thing you can do is just do nothing. So good call on dropping out of the challenges. Sounds like keeping cool is its own challenge.

From what I remember from hanging around a pregnant broad, sardines in mustard sauce, pickles and olives are always appropriate.

Glad to see you post again. Good to see you cool off for a bit with the a/c . Is it true what greg says : olives, pickles & sardines?

Glad to see you're still in the land of the living! Glad you and the kiddos are staying a little cooler, though 90 and 95 aren't exactly winter. Anyway, keep taking care of yourself!

Thanks, guys!

August 1:

Treadmill walk x 30 minutes @ 3.0 mph.

Big whoopdy-doo. But it beats nothing, I guess.

Sardines, no can do. Olives & pickles? Always!! One of my favorite meals, since I was a kid, was to mix tomatoes, mushrooms, pickles, and occasionally green olives, along with all of the juices. Yum!!! I just made some the other day, as a matter of fact. Now I want more. Argh.

And, yes, we have fans. We have 3 store-bought fans plus 4 hubby-souped-up, super-powered industrial fans. Oh, yeah. We have fans. When it's 118 degrees, though, it's just painful hot wind that dries you out. Now that the a/c is doing its thing, the fans feel good!

wet t-shirts - they're not just for contests anymore. jump in the pool, stop dripping, go in house with fans. repeat.

Hey Girl! Glad to see you back on the board - and trying to take it easy.
We do the same, a/c and fans but I had bought heavy canvas like fabric on clearance, I made make shift room dividers. To keep the cool air in the important rooms and out of say...our kitchen which will never be cool no matter what!
Good Luck keeping cool. (head in freezer works well once in a while! and freeze pops! )
Try to enjoy yourself ~ this is a great time as you well know!!

Hey preggo-lady! Glad you got some heat-reprieve ... we have no a/c either so I can relate. Being wet and in front of the fan helps a lot though ... and anytime you can submerge your entire body, it will do a world of good toward cooling you off (i.e. go swimming!!).

Can't wait to see preggo-belly pictures. I'll have to dig up some of mine from Hayley ...

Hey Diane! Glad to see you back! I can't believe you've been sitting in a 95+ degree house all this time... I would pass out! Glad you have some A/C to help you out now. And I agree about the wet shirt idea, go swimming and go back in the house all wet... really feels nice in very hot weather.
