I hate hot weather. It saps the life right out of me. Sorry about your back, lady. Get better soon (with or without Hans, the wonder masseur).

Thanks! FYI: If you see Hands, er, Hans, please tell him to report to my house ASAP!

Congrats on the new shoes, I would second getting your stride checked though for proper shoes. I went to the Hell mall once to get shoes as a newbie runner. Got Running shoes that felt good, 2 months in had horrible knee problems. Went to a running store and found out I overpronate and needed different shoes. Now I have found my "sole mate" Nike structure triax. They changed the new model slightly, so I need to get the wide version.
|
I tried on a pair of the Triax (women's) in the store this weekend and they were way too wide. Felt like a good shoe, though. I'll just have to see how these Dart's hold up to running because, like you pointed out, what feels good to try on doesn't necessarily turn out to be a good shoe for running (or whatever else). So far, so good, though! *crossing fingers* I'll still be hitting the running store on our way through this fall for a "real" pro fit.

I'm voting for Barney. But that's just me.

Don't mean to hijack your log. Barney? Pres Bush's dog or the purple evil bastard. I like the people that have been mentioned also. Anyone but the current two parties we have now. I must say for a fiscal leader I like Ron Paul's views. But that's just me.

Hijack away!
I meant Barney as in I love you, you love me insanity. I've been trying to stay fairly up to date on the candidates over the recent months and they're all looking like freaking idiots to me at this point. I'm about ready to sell my vote to the highest bidder to support my booze and man-whore habit.

Oh, yeah. And I did another stint on the treadmill tonight.
Treadmill: total 25 minutes, same as this morning -- warmup/cooldown at 3.0-3.5 mph and then 4:1 splits of 5.5 mph and 3.0 mph. Total of 1.86 miles this evening. (Same for this morning but forgot to write it.)
Also did a 30-minute stretching session this afternoon to try and further work out the kinks in me. Followed up by a couple of hours of light outside chores.
Notes:
1. I put my crap shoes back on for this evening's run, just to compare to the new shoes. My toes on my right foot got a little tingly midway through it but never got numb like this morning and earlier this week. I assume it's from the stretching but I'll be experimenting with the different shoes and more stretching tomorrow to make sure.
2. I'm going to annoy the everloving crap out of you guys by logging my daily activity/movement. Now that it's hotter-than-hell season, I tend to sit on my ass more than I should. I'm making a concerted effort for the month of June to increase, increase, increase my everyday activity level.
3. I'm thinking I may have to break my running into separate events like I did today until the heat breaks in the fall. Man, it sucks. My resps and HR are just fine but I'm on fire and my face feels like it's going to melt off into my bra after 20 minutes. And it's only going to get hotter. Bleh. I'll have to play it by ear, I guess.
4. I've moved my running up from 5.0 mph to 5.5 mph this week and it's fine -- no real increase in perceived difficulty. I'll keeping eeking it up a bit now and then and eventually be able to beat the old people in my next race. (Take that, Sherman the schnauzer!) I'm thinking I might want to run the Mud Run in LR again this fall. We had a blast at it last year!! (I was part of the 5-person genetically modified cow if any of you were there.)

Did you not read Scott McClellan's book. I think he morphs in the purple beast during national security briefings.

With the new shoes, do you tie them tighter? From what the guy at my local shoe store said you should be able to get a finger under the laces. If not they are too tight. Just a thought

diane, your running is coming along really well! way to keep after it, and those paces are awesome, especially factoring in the lack of AC where your treadmill sits....
