These last couple days, I have considered duct tape an optional accessory and I DID just buy some new Sharpies, so I could even do it up and really color-coordinate!

Been a minute since you've updated this log. Does that mean you're having a good time or are you in traction?

Hmm she has 5 kids, and it's Easter Sunday. Probably finding duct tape for their Sunday bests.

Thank you .. thank you for the laughs I had over the course of the past 2hrs I spent reading your log from page 1 thru 18!
You made my day, along with Karla whose log I also spedread from start to finish. Both of you are awesome women whose logs I'll be happy to read every morning!

PS: did you get my PM? I already found the answer to the cost of that rack (approx. 150USD). THe woman I told about it is going to ask her BIL to make her a wooden one for the shorter (non-Oly) 5' bar she's using. Would that work?

stage three is really taking a toll on my hands unlike stages one and two - it's got to be those heavy dbs! betcha you've got some dandy calluses going too!!

happy easter! karen

I'm here, having survived the weekend! Just a quickie post now to add in a workout, then back later for more long-winded gabbing.

NR4W, Stage 3, Workout B, 2 of 4 (from 3/22/08):

Warmup: ADW from PBD

RDL/bent-over row: 3 x 6 x 115#

Partial single leg squat: 3 x 6 x 10e. Tried from step but I felt like I was going to fall over so went back to floor for these. Went down to 10#e DBs so I could work my way towards parallel... maybe.

Wide-grip lat pulldown - subbed WG pull ups:
3 x 6 x jumping ups and trying to control the negative. It wasn't pretty but I'm so freaking sore from them.

Back extension: 3 x 6 with the Swiss ball arrangement.

YTWL: 3 x 6 x 8e. Bleh.

Swiss ball crunch: 3 x 6 x long-arm and feet elevated on 18" step. Took weight off on these to work on the long arm version while feet are elevated -- freaking hard to balance.

Hip flexion -- incline reverse crunch: 3 x 6 x BW.

Lateral flexion -- Swiss ball side crunch: 3 x 6 x long-arm.

Prone cobra: 3 x 6 x 90. My left shoulder burned during these.

HIIT: Hill run outside for 5 sets.

Notes:

1. I raced through this workout as I had no time. Rest periods were practically nonexistent so I didn't increase any weights from the last time.

2. This is the first week of 2008 that I didn't get in three workouts, other than my rest week after Stage 1. (Only two this week.)

3. I need chalk for the pullups (a.k.a. fall-downs-at-the-speed-of-light) because, wow, it's slippery.

4. I discovered another new muscle this week! Woot! It's in my forearm, just up from my wrist. My forearms kick major ass, thank you very much.

Back later to blab further.

Duct tape IS the secret to life.

We did up 4 dozen hardboiled eggs and that's what the kids hunted. But... I did pick up some candy: 12 Cadbury eggs (1/2 regular, 1/2 caramel), 2 small bags of jelly beans, and 2 small bags of malted egg ball thingies. Those were split up between the 5 kids with a tad bit of leftovers in a bag for hubby and me to share. I only had 15 (small) jelly beans, 4 malted egg doohickeys, and 1 Cadbury caramel. Not bad, huh? Just don't make me tell you about the pizza...

I just PMed ya back. Wooden, I'm not sure. If BIL knows wood and what he's doing, it could work but it could also go wrong if he's not so good at it.

Holy smokes, my calluses are having hot, sweaty sex and multiplying like rabbits, I tell ya! I try to rip a little off here and there as I think about it throughout the day, otherwise they get ripped on in a more painful way while I'm lifting. At least those ragged pieces of skin hanging off all over my hands are extra traction, right?

Almost forgot this past week's eats averages. Hang on to your hats, folks, cuz the carb increase from the weekend is about to blow you over!

Calories..........2275
Fat................117.5g..... 46%
Protein...........165.5g.....2 9%
Carbs.............139.0g.....2 5%
Fiber...............25.9g

This weekend wasn't a slip up or blow out by any means. It was a planned part of life so no worries.

Oh! I happened upon a thrift shop today and they had Fast Food Nation there so I picked it up, along with, ahem, um, 40 other books. (Did I mention I'm a bookaholic?) I'm looking forward to reading it but will wait until I finish Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy that I'm currently reading. Then, I got home and had to hop over to Amazon.com to order Uncle Tom's Cabin because I want my 11 year old to read it as part of our schooling. While there, I was probed by aliens who forced me to buy Chew on This (I'm blaming this one on Kate/"Willie"), Athletic Body in Balance (I'm blaming this one on LisaS), Starting Strength (I'm blaming this one on Lisa~ and MissJane), and In Defense of Food (I'm blaming this one on LostDog). I need therapy. Except I can't afford it now that I've blown the budget on books yet again.

Guess what happened on Good Friday? A kid was born!

I "accidentally" left all the candy at Grandma. Kids are pi$$ed but Grandpa's happy.

CUTE kid!! Awww. That's really sweet.
Your carbs weren't even as crazy as mine on Easter (I reached the over 200g mark)....I too had a carb-fest. It was fun. But it leaves me feeling a little drugged, or something. Just ....off.
I want to read In Defense of Food too!
