Sorry you are hungry. I agree that extra protein can help a lot. When I first started upping the protein it was like magic.

Thanks Jill - I'm not giving up!!!

Tracey, I'm glad to hear you're taking a little break because zombie-like sounds really bad . And, it seems the hunger thing is going around for a lot of us this last 1-2 weeks. (I know mine was because I was really tired and have taken steps to fix that.)

I'm going to try making the chocolate bean cake because it sounds really good and I think I can get DH and the kids to eat some, too.

And, I was wondering if this tea is much better than the usual supermarket flavored teas? I'm especially interested in the ones Jill posted because those just sound so good. Does it convert easily to iced tea in the summer?

DEFINATELY superior to the supermarket teas. As for the iced part - I dunno - this is a new obsession for me, and so far I've only had them HOT! I would bet that especially the fruit ones would be awesome iced...hmmmm...Aztec Fire strawberry iced tea - that sounds GOOD!!

Today's workout:

40 mins on the spin bike
5 min warmup
31 mins of 1 min hard pace/2 mins easy pace (no way to measure on the spin bike - just a turn of the dial!)
4 min cooldown
AVG HR: 134
I was hitting 90%-91% on a few of the intervals!!!

Trying to keep some variety in my aerobic workouts - I figure between the treadmill, the spin bike and my DVD's I'll be good!

Off to eat some PROTEIN!!!

Why, I just don't think that would be conceivable. I don't know if I've seen more grit anywhere......?

On the carb/protein/fat ratios.. these aren't really interesting unless we know what amount of calories someone eats . Eating just 1200 kcal will make it necessary to take protein really high and fats somewhat higher. Eating twice that amount at 2400kcal (at/over mtn) one would eat more of everything but protein would seem less since you don't need as much protein when you eat more carbs and are maintaining.

On a maintenance diet I enjoy something like 35% carbs, 25% protein and 40% fats.
On a cut, I'm even craving more protein but still like the fats to be high. The bad part is that I no longer do well on very low carbs, so it makes it like a juggling game. Enough fats to make a diet livable, not eat crazy amounts of protein and then enough carbs to keep strong. Sofar something like 30% carbs, 30% protein and 40% fats work well.

For a low-carber my fats are moderate, but for most fitness people, my fats are really high. It's not just a question of yummyness, it's about health too.

Everyone just has to find the optimum balance. Finding that balance takes a lot of time, also because requirements change as soon as your training changes, body fat% comes down or even within your cycle (craving more carbs right pre-TOM)

Hi Espi! I'm currently on 1500 cals/4 days and 1300 cals/2 days. I also have one rest day where I get 1800 cals (macros not counted!). This is a recent change, and only for a couple weeks while I'm on hiatus from weight lifting.

Once I'm back to lifting, I'm not sure what Leigh will have me doing nutritionally. It's such a balancing act to find out what works for you individually!!!

Thanks!!! Honestly, though, if I had to do it again, I'd probably get a "regular" exercise bike vs the spin bike. Keeping track of mph/rpm's/distance would be nice!! And I just don't get the same "kick" out of having a spin class by myself (via DVD!)

Today's workout:

I popped in the StepFit DVD - it's about 55 mins long. About 40 mins into the workout, I just BONK'd! I got that sick, shaky feeling and knew it was time to call it a workout and get something to eat!
So, even though I didn't finish the routine, I got my "required" 40 mins of aerobics today!
AVG HR: 141

And then I had the bestest snack EVER! Thanks to Karen (aka FitWit) I had THIS - something that will become an almost daily snack, I'm sure!!

I'm sorry you tanked--glad you stopped when you did! I know that feeling. I kind of tanked today too--I had some "optional" cardio booked and just did NOT have it in my legs to churn it out. So I did a 50 min walk and that was it for me.

I really need to get some new Cathe videos!

Also--LOL on your new avi! Hilarious!
