Thanks, Jenny. Elbow is fine, but my brachio- is aching. Handing people dumbbells all day - by gripping the small plates so they can grab the handles - really builds tension in the forearms!

FRIDAY, January, 18
Squats
10xBAR
5x95
5x135
2x185
7x5 - 225
Ok, the squats were tough, but doable. My elbows feel like crap though. Left is the worst. I'm gonna break out the capsaicin for them tomorrow, and then get some work done on Monday. Otherwise, good workout. 10x3 tomorrow.

SATURDAY, January 19
Squats:
10xBAR
5x135
3x185
10x3 - 235
These felt good. Challenging by the end, but no eye-poppers. I dropped a gallon of capsaicin on my elbows, so they felt ok. I have to say that I do feel the tension in my left elbow anyhow.
I like sets of 3 muuuuch better than sets of 9!

Great job with the squats, Ian. Very impressed with the weighted chins, too. Thanks for posting the prep routine. I'll give it a try next time around. Hope the elbow feels better.

Thanks Greg and Frank. Frank - it may be because your "heavy sets" are significantly heavier than mine. Who knows?
MONDAY, January 21
Squats:
10xBAR
5x135
3x185
4x9 - 215
Grape-nuts-throat-pukeage. God I hate lifting in the morning. God I hate high-rep squats. Glad this one is over! (Biceps cramped up, but nothing else hurt.)

Hey, Ian.
Looks like the program is going great.
I agree on the 10 x 3. I prefer those to high rep sets.
I think I will buy stock in capsaicin.

Well, lots of appointments anyway. That's sorta like dates, right?

TUESDAY, January 22
Chinups 3x4 - bw+50
Db Bench Press 15,15,9 - 65's
That's all I had the time for. Very busy at the gym. Lower back tweaky.
WEDNESDAY, January 23
Squats:
10xBAR
5x135
3x185
5x7 - 225
Whoah these were difficult. I came into these feeling achey and TIRED. Nonetheless, all the reps came up; the last 2 reps of the final set were half-good mornings. No pain but a tight left biceps again. Not loving Smolov right now.

THURSDAY, January 24
Upper Body Maintenance
(a1) Db Chest-Supp Rows 2x6 - 80's
(a2) Db Bench Press 4x100's, 4x95's
Very slow, sore and creaky with these. Didn't feel terrible, but not good either. Running LOW on energy. No pop. Need some sleep!
Massage in a minute. I need it!

So my back - particularly midback - was hard as a rock.
As for the arm pain: my bis, tris, etc. are all fine. He found a nasty trigger-point in the sub-clavius, which apparently has a pain pattern into the biceps area. We're thinking that that's what it was.
