Started the morning with some wii, and of course I was up a bit. But whatever. Then this afternoon got in a real workout. Will still wii tonite, and for those looking at it, We ski is fun and multiplayer. Either one person can use the balance board, or up to four people can play with the wiimotes and nunchucks.

Ok, the weekend wasn't total slack, there was no lifting however. There was a nice bike ride yesterday that was a light workout, and some cardio on the elliptical saturday, which was more intense.

Today is scheduled a lift and some cardio and of course fun wii time.

Weight not changing. From 1st may to 31st may a pound change. Sigh.

We got a new scale, which reads me a pound above the old scale. This is not the reason for no weight change. It is frustrating, but I will stick to it.

Got PN and while Otto has been reading it, I'm starting today. My kitchen is nearly clean. Cooking can now commence. If in a few weeks of continuing on this route and doing PN nothing changes still, I may go ahead and get Leigh's book as well.

So the new scale tells me my bodyage is 54. Nice. Great. I feel wonderful.
Sigh. Course, it also states that under 21%bf for women is low... which seems a bit odd to me but whatever. *shrug*

Cals have been around the 1500 mark, off twice but not going above 1800, maintenance is supposedly over 2000. So ......

I'll be interested to see how you do with PN. Good luck.

Forgive me for the silly question...but what do you play on the Wii??? We never got one...the hubby and I are video game junkies and I was trying not to encourage us to sit on the couch any more than we did!!! They have fitness games on there???

The wii, with it's wireless controller that can also sense movement, has a number of games that require you to do a bit more than sit there and twiddle your thumbs (which, basically, let's admit, is what console gaming is...)

Here's the trailer.

And in case it no workey, the link:
YouTube - E3 2007 | Wii fit Trailer

Don't let the trailer fool you though... the music is MUCH worse than they make it out to be.

It's not really... A good hard workout. It's light activity that gets you moving, a few tough things, a good time, loads of frustration, and a handy way to get you off your ass while tracking your progress both there and elsewhere.

Hmm that seems to be the way of most Wii games - for all the time you'd invest in the game you'd be much better off doing the real thing.

No, I'm not sure that's the case. If you think this is a workout... yeah, you're better off in the gym. If you want to play a game and not just sit and shoot... well, this is better. Besides, some of the stuff IS actually helpful.

It's just a side thing... not the real thing. But in the end, better than NOthing...

eta:
plus, it is a handy way to keep track of your weight, for less than what we just spent on a new scale. (by $10. )

It's not gonna get anyone fit by itself. But it's more than what it seems if used properly. It's something I can go up to and hula hoop for a bit. And yes, I could really hula hoop. But my hoop is in the closet and I don't have a lot of space for it. Plus, there's no competition. The score is half the fun.

True enough - doing something is better than doing nothing. And again it's that fewer minutes not spent sitting around.

As a side note, reading the gaming discussions on this thread has brought me back to computer/video gaming again after a very long hiatus. I've been playing Gladius on my Gamecube and Painkiller and particularly Overlord on the PC. Good times.

Hey...you could make the stepping one interesting by putting it up on a stacking step set....instead of flat on the ground...it's an interesting concept...definitely not a "workout" for most...but good for balance, and moving around if you're usually sitting on the couch at night! Cool beans...!!! Plus I'm sure you can add weights to some and make it more interesting....hmmmmmm...maybe for the hubby's birthday?? lol...

Well, prolly not too much weight, I donno how it would take it, honestly. *shrug* It's a few inches off the ground, so it could stand to be upped a bit, but then you'd have to be careful about too high. This isn't stepups, more like kiddie step aerobics.

But once you unlock it there's a "Free step" mode that lets you watch tv or whatever, the wiimote times out your steps, and you don't have to worry about the fancy footwork of the game. It doesn't go too fast, unfortunately, so I guess there's where raising a bit would come in handy.

Still pretty interesting stuff...there is room there for someone to develop something a little more challenging...and get the rest of my country off it's couch!!!

Looking at your training log...I can't even imagine holding a plank for a min...holy cow!

Today I went to the dentist. And since I'm the kind of girl for whom the shots wear off quickly, I had to be redosed and wait for a bit. Hour total, two fillings, and I've learned that both of my lower back molars on both sides will prolly be coming out. And the wisdom tooth that's left. funziez.
I hate my teeth. They're costing me a fortune. We made jokes about my dentist's jetski I'm obviously buying him. I'll have to send him a card with a mini jetski or something.

Oh, so the workout.

I've got to do something about this. I don't want a pull up/dip day. So I'm thinking I'll combine bench and pull ups, screw the dips, keep the other 2 days, and add in a day of something. hmm

I've learned that the ease of holding plank is inversely related to my weight. It's hard as hell now, whereas before I was getting bored and giving up at three minutes. Really planks are fun... I'm sure that's it. They used to be fun. Somewhen...

Sidonia - we're in the same weight range (give or take) and the planks pretty much defeat me as well. The best I can manage is about 20 secs on the floor, with about 30 secs on a 6" step. I suspect this is something I'll have to work on (but live with) until I'm a lot lighter.
