A bit late, but here's the April update:

Height: 6'2"
Age: 42 (+1)
Weight: 182
Bodyfat: 11.81 caliper, 12.7 Omron. I oughtta look slimmer if my body fat is really this low...

Bicep: 12"
Chest: 40 1/2"
Waist at navel: 36 1/2"
Hips: 40"
Thigh: 23"
Calf: 14 1/2"

Photobucket's resize is broken (conflicts with Adobe flash) so I can't make the pics smaller and if I compare with January this post will be huge. Let's see how this goes:

I had forgot about this challenge you guys were doing. Congrats to everyone that is still sticking with it. It looks like everyone is making some good progress. Roland, that is a nice tat you got there. Interesting location as well, don't think I have seen someone pick that spot for their first one.

OK, guys options needed.

Been doing the NROL break-in program since 4/7. I have been doing 3 workouts a week and increased most of my weights on the lifts. I have dropped the weights on a couple to work on proper form. My body weight has actually increased by a pound, but I think my body fat has dropped about 1%. I am currently still trying to eat like the TNT Plan A, for fat loss.

My dilemma is what program to go with next. I still need to cut plenty of body fat, I am probably around 17%.

RL suggested I should go with Hyprotrophy or Strength and I am tempted to go with the Hyprotrophy. But do the rest of you think??? Should I start with program I or II? Should I stay on it all month or go with Hyprotrophy for 2 weeks and switch to FL I or FL II?

All thought welcome????

I'd go with FL 1 - it's a natural transition from Break-In and you said you had fat to lose.

I agree with Tom - if you're still trying to lose body fat, FL1 is a good transition out of break-in.

And from your pics, I'd guess you've lost more than 1% body fat.

He meant another 1% drop just in the past two weeks since he started NROL break-in. He's lost much, much more than that throughout the challenge.

Which is why I had recommended a strength or hypertrophy phase, since he's been focused on fat loss for four months.

If it's a choice between hypertrophy and strength, I've read that doing Hyp 1 and possibly 2 will really boost your progress when you start strength after them.

You're not really going to grow anything on a caloric deficit, so get stronger.

Unless you're bored or noticing a lack of progress, I'd even keep things the same or similar. If you haven't done TNT's workouts, give those a shot. They are similar (but different) to NROL FL plans.

I finished the TNT basic workout phase and then was going to move to NROL. I know that the 1800-2200 calories I am doing is lower than Lou suggests, so I would probably have to increase my intake.

My gains have been dropping off this month even though I am working out harder than I have the previous 3 months. My weight has gone up a little and I, previously thought my BF went down, but now I am not certain about that.

Thats why I am not certain what to do at this point. I would like to trim another 5% BF off, but not certain at this time what is the best approach.

Stay with a fat loss program, or moving to a strength program to up the metabolism.

Try sticking to the fat loss program but eating a little more for 3-4 weeks then drop the calories back down

It's healed up. It's just solid black. One color. It's not as dark as the first days right after I got it, but it's starting to darken up again.

I have a few friends with black tattoos and they said it would take a few months to get all the way there. Never as black as those first few days, though. But, never as painful, either.

Roland got some ink???? Did you make sure it doesn't have any "hidden" meaning? :p

Seriously, you all are doing one hell of a job. I'm seriously impressed. Becardio - you're really putting some work in there. Very noticeable.

LD - You're back looks wicked!

Nice, nice job everyone!

Yeah they will never stay as vibrant as when you first get them but if the artist is good and you keep good care of it for the first couple weeks then you can retain a large percentage of the colour, at least that has been my experience.

I keep catching myself cheating and then saying start again tomorrow, problem is the intervals are getting shorter not longer. I refuse to give up but seriously guys this could get embarrassing come 6 month picture day. I’m in this cycle of going really well/improving then a few days/ a week of shit, then back to doing well again.

Little fluctuations either way but long term - nothing’s changed and until I get it sorted nothing will.

For those of you who were at the 2007 summit, I’m pretty much in the exact same position I was then in terms of strength, flexibility, body fat.

Observations/Suggestions?

One month to go fellas.

I'm going to hold off on the pics this month. Mainly because I've been drinking hard and eating like crap for a week or so . 4 more weeks. 4 more weeks.

One month? Is this some sort of Gobbla psych-out ploy? The deadline is July 7, which is two months away on my calendar.

And I'll admit that this month has been some remarkably poor eating, between my birthday, a bunch of family occasions, a bunch of special work events (the big bankwide barbecue was last night), etc. This month will be "setback" pics rather than "progress" pics, I'm afraid.

Is it two months? Sweetness. I might be able to come up with some "progress" between the beginning and end pics then. This month is still a bye though.

Stats:
Age: 32
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 152.4 150.4 151.5 149.5 148.5
Bodyfat %: 15.3(Tanita Scale) 15 13.3 13.7 13.3
Waist(at navel): 32.5" 31" 31" 30" 29.5"
Chest: 40" 40" 40" 39.75" 40.25"
Hips: 32" 31" 31" 30" 29.75"
Thigh: 22" 23" 23" 22" 21.5"
Bicep(unflexed): 13" 13" 12.5 12.5 12.5"
Calf: 14.25" 14" 14 14" 14"

Overall I'm happy w/my stats this month. I lost a pound this month. I lost some on my waist, hips and thigh but gained some on chest. Arms and calves stayed the same. I'm going to say I'm at my goal of 10-12% bodyfat at this point, even though the Tanita says different. So for the last two months of the challenge I'm going to be trying to gain muscle.
