Yeah that's what I think too. It's a good program, but it's too much for me right now apparently. maybe once I get more weight off and such, I'll try it again and hopefully with different effects in the long run. I should order Starting Strength.

I was one, although I wasn't in the 'official challenge' i was only a few weeks behind. I've started with a 4 day split plan...pretty burnt out on the full body work-out after so many months of it with limited results. Paula's 5x5 w/o looks interesting.

Hey Paula -
Although I didn't do the NROL4W program yet, I've been doing the original, I totally sympathize. It seems like it just takes so much energy and I need more food and more sleep and it has to get prioritized above everything to be successful. I'm glad your program you're trying now is letting you live the rest of your life and stay healthy!

Thanks Leah
It does take energy.... and I think its about finding what works for your life so that you can live your life. For me recently, that has been a whole changing around of what is important. With the sun being out longer, it's more important to me to be outside and active (whether that is taking pictures or going for walks or for bike rides) instead of spending my evenings in front of a computer. For me at least, sitting in front of a Computer is too much like getting sucked in by television (which I haven't had one in almost a year). I have to turn it off and walk alway so I can do other things.
This is not a bad thing though. I'm sleeping better, I'm truly accomplishing the things I want to do, and while people don't always understand why we make lifestyle changes, I'm doing what's right for me.

Yeah, I had to compromise with my 'fitness mentality' of working out 6 days a week or thinking I was a slug. I am so happy with my 3 days of lifting and no cardio. I don't get burnt out and look forward to my workouts. Now that spring is here and summer is coming I am looking to see if I can incorporate some outdoor activity (that is not necessarily a workout eh?). Thanx for the beautiful pictures . . . I really enjoy them.

You are looking good in here, Paula! I love reading your log, it may sound weird but it grounds me in a way. Keep up the good work. I only wish I could view your pictures from this computer.

That was a great no-nonsense yet very good & effective workout! I bet you were 'good' tired from it. From now on, it should be easier for you to stick to your diet.
BTW, loved your pix (in case I forgot to mention) and your avi pic is totally cool. Did you take that one yourself. Oh, and while I've not had a television since errr 2000 (been away for a long time and never bothered to move my television back and currently refuse to pay good money to the crappy television providers), I'm so totally addicted to internet it's embarassing. Wished I could find a solution here.

Ginny: Thanks. I try and keep things real which sometimes gets me into trouble.
Espi: Yes My avi is a small version of a picture I took outside of Bob's house. He has lizards and frogs all over the place. He has a Spider Lily plant that they love to hang out in
Here's a larger version of the picture.
But this is my favorite Chameleon picture that I've taken:

Something from work that was kind of interesting.
You are what you eat, so eat well. An amazing insight of civilizations past has now been confirmed by today's investigative, nutritional sciences. They have shown that what was once called "The Doctrine of Signatures" was astoundingly correct. It now contends that every whole food has a pattern that resembles a body organ or physiological function and that this pattern acts as a signal or signs as to the benefit the food provides the eater. Here is just a short list of examples of Whole Food Signatures.
A sliced carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and science shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over 3 dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, book choy, rhubarb and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength.
Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Eggplant, avocadoes and pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? .... It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the motility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.
Grapefruits, oranges, and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like body cells. Today's research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.

Jello topped with whipped cream resembles my ass. Does that count? I know, I know... You said "whole" foods. *sigh*
