Lisa:

Not an animal. This is a pipeline PIG:

A pig is has brushes and sensors on it, so they can clean the pipe and inspect it to make sure that things don't go BOOM due to various types of corrosion on/in the pipeline.

Tonight has been pretty good. I didn't get out of work until late and then I had to stop and pick up some groceries because Bob decided he wanted to eat with me. I picked up a pork tenderloin, salad fixings and some whole green beans. I seared the tenderloin and then put it in a 425 degree oven. and cooked it off. While I was doing that, I prepped the salad and mixed together 4 TBSP Maple Syrup, 4 TBSP Low Sodium Soy Sauce, 1 clove of garlic and 1/2 tsp of crushed red pepper. I warmed it first for about 15 minutes than bumped up the heat to bring it up to a fast boil. Then when the pork was almost done, I poured the sauce over the top and let it cook for about 5 more minutes while the beans finished cooking. Then the meat came out of the oven and rested while we had a lovely salad. The Pork was delish and then we went for a walk to the park.

Simba had a little girl kitty come and talk to him through the window tonight while he was eating his dinner.... she was rubbing all over the window while he just stared at her like OH HELL NO YOU ARE NOT COMING IN HERE.

Do you use all smart pigs? Up here in the poor northern country I've only heard of one group of lines that have been checked by a smart pig and it was a major undertaking, like one million shammolies to do the collection system. The damn thing was so expensive they wouldn't let our regular ops touch them, they sent out techs with it.

That I'm not sure about aeb. I know that all the lines have to be piggable by 2012 I think it is.

OMG, that's funny.

Your pork sounds great, Paula. I mean the tenderloin.

Default Tonight's Training Damage Bill Starr's Intermediate 5x5 Week 1A

Warm up
5 minutes on the stepper
10 prisoner squats
10 y squats
10 lateral lunges (each side)
10 hip pops
10 single leg hip pops ( each side - I think I can officially say that something is not firing on the right side. I had a really difficult time lifting my ass off the ground).
10 bird dogs - each side

Squats
1x5x65
1x5x75
1x5x95
1x5x110
1x5x125
I picked a good weight to start out at. Seems like I managed to do the working sets without ending up pushing unevenly when I came up. Made a really conscious effort with good foot placement and making sure my legs were wide enough that I could adequately drop through.

Bench
2x5x45
1x5x50
1x5x60
1x5x70
Technically should have started at 40 lbs but it seems pretty stupid to have to start with my standard bar and then switch out to the oly bar.
These felt pretty good except I had a bitch of time determining where exactly the squat rack needed to be set. Note to self - Only need to have one hole showing on the uprights.

Rows
1x5x45
1x6x50 (I forgot how to count on this set )
1x5x60
1x5x70
1x5x80

Swiss ball Hypers
2x8xbw

Weighted Situps on Swiss Ball
4x8xbw+15

Overall I was pretty happy with this workout. It's nice to finish a workout and not be completely wiped out from the workout itself. I should have done this a while ago maybe I'd be a little further along than having dinked around the last 8 months.

Hi, I'm a general board lurker here and on 02 so although I've probably followed most of your journals (fantastic progress by the way) and other people, I just rarely comment on anything. I work in the patch up in Alberta though so just intersting to see the same old stuff down south.

Cool. Are you following a particular program now or just going with the flow and playing it by ear?

I'm using Bill Starr's Intermediate 5x5 that a friend showed me last year. It looks like I'll be subbing the dips with decline bench work. But basically this is the sort of work I was doing last spring before I started doing NROL. I saw steady progress on it at 2000 calories a day without bonking and I looked forward to lifting on the days I lifted. With the experimenting I've done in the last 8 months combined with the health battles, I want to be in that place where I last spring where I enjoyed it and don't dread picking up the weights without wondering if I am going to get sick again. Plus I just really like lifting heavy.

Thanks, Paula! I just did a quick scan of it and it looks pretty cool -- very straight-forward and simple. I'll read it over better tonight when the kids are put down.

Hey there... just wanted to pop in and let you know that my brother and my father are dying (yeah... at the same time just to make life cruel) so if I'm not around for a while you know why. I'm taking Nicholas with me to Seattle in about a week.

Tina:

Just getting back to it regularly without dreading it so I can get the weight off - at this point getting the weight off is more important to me than anything else. I can't do Alwyn's workouts without having to up the calories and that slows the overall weight loss. I can generally lift heavy (5-8 rep range) and see good results over a long period of time and I don't have to frigging eat a huge amount of food to do it. I want progress at this point. And I am actually excited about lifting. It's been a long time since I have looked forward to lifting. And I'm one that if I don't enjoy it, I'm not going to do it.

The good thing is that I know more now than i did this time last year so I can at least do some of the mobility stuff and apply some of the stuff I learned over the last 8 month to make the most of the basic stuff I'll be doing.
