thanks mel! thoughts are just so powerful...

lisa~, check out that thread in the NROLW section. I think I listed the quinoa "recipe" if you can call what I do recipe. so glad you are trying new things. the PN program has inspired me to do the same. go to your health food sore and find Hemp seeds. seriously. they are great in salads, on veggies, in smoothies. fun stuff. no buzz, though!

uggggg. scale weight the same today. I am eating too much nut butter. a few too many of this and that. frustrating. I think I use those negative thoughts to rationalize behavior that I know won't get me to my goal weight.

I understand your struggle. When this happens just chant the mantra "stay true, stay true." Stay true to your plan and the body comp changes will break loose soon. We've had this conversation on this forum several times. It might be encouraging at this moment to reread Lyle's whoosh thread, the JP's whoosh thread, and/or the scale thread (not suggesting that you not weigh daily, but just a reminder that you have to focus on trends).

Default Masoor Dal

Thought you might be interested in this... As part of my delving into Indian cuisine, I made Masoor Dal this week. I "Americanized" it by deseeding the green chile and adding the oil, but not the red chilis and mustard seeds to the dal. My tasters approved of this milder version, but I am dying to see what the full version tastes like. It was also my first time working with real chiles (not cayenne peppper powder) so it was pretty cool (or hot, depending on how you look at it).

thanks lisa~ your advice is wise as always. here are my professional body comp results from the same exercise phys who does my pinch test weekly

July 25, 2008(Derived From Results Tracker)
(change from program start-4 weeks)
Body Weight = 162 lbs (-2lb)
Lean Body Mass = 113.0 (+2.3lb)
Fat Mass = 49 (-4.3lb)
Body Fat % = 30.2 (-2.3%)

so needless to day, I am THRILLED!!! right on target actually, maybe even a bit ahead of schedule. my exercise phys says losing 1% of bodyfat per month is decent progress. I was hoping to lose 0.5% weekly to attain my goal by the end of october. if I step up nutrition another notch, I can get there for sure!

tom, I LOVE working with chili's. I use disposable gloves for the real hotties!

Wow great results Wendy! It is SO important to look at the long range instead of the short.

Yes you absolutely can!

Congratulations on your excellent progress! Lean mass up, fat mass down even more--awesome! Keep on keeping on!

thanks karla and lisa~ I am happy about this program! finally, something that I can live with for a lifetime.

and I am just LOVING the workouts. next weeks are even more fun and more metabolically intense. three pretty tough circuit/cross fit things and then 3 more mellow cardio (easy running or biking for me)

karla, keen has a new sandal that has SPD ready cleats. I just had the cleats themselves installed, and I will report on the first ride tomorrow. they match my gary fisher perfectly!!!!!

thanks lisa~ feeling even better. prepared lots of protein just now on my george foreman. ahi tuna, salmon and organic chicken breast. I did the chicken in southwest style, the ahi with a gomasio topping (sea salt and roasted sesame seeds) and the salmon is lemon pepper rosemary.

found some awesome key west scallops and shrimp for a quick stirfry. all set!

food porn:

this was yummy and fast. I keep mixtures of mixed frozen veg in my freezer. this bunch was carrots, broccoli. water chesnuts, edamame, green beans with a bit of olive oil, sea salt and penzey's mural spice. I nuked that.

meanwhile quickly seared the sushi grade tuna fillet prepped with gomasio (sea salt and roasted sesame seeds crushed) on the george forman for 2 minutes.

sliced the tuna fillet, served atop veggies with a dollop of yummy hummus in the middle for fun. fabulous, fast lunch
