In my previous workout my trainer gave me he had me do 3 planks, one for 30 secs, one for 45 secs and the last for 2 minutes. This after renegade rows... You don't realize how long 2 minutes can be until you have to hold a plank through it.

the 90 sec prone cobra is fun too, but I can do 2 x 90 sec of those. 2 minutes can be an eternity when doing a static hold--no way can I do 2 min right now. I am sure if I could lower my body fat, it could get easier!

meanwhile, the meatloaf that I had for lunch was fantastic--recipe from precision nutrition cookbook. I used grass fed ground beef--such great flavor. served with japanese sweet potatoes, which are a lighter color orange than the regular kinds and very sweet! steamed broccoli too and a big ole salad.

I love eating well. and not sure that I am willing to restrict my calories or my cooking any more than I already do, so I might just be finishing this challenge at the same weight, just more fit. decisions decisions.....

I started with about 30 seconds too..... just wait until you have to do SIDE PLANKS!!!

I'll take a "regular" plank ANY DAY over the side ones!!!

I have been doing side planks as part of this core workout I learned at rowing camp. I only hold them for 30 sec though

That's about the best I can do on them, too. I found that I was able to progress much quicker with the regular planks - these side ones, not so much!!

ooh tracey, I just noticed your signature. I have a long history of trying to out train a bad diet (in my case not a bad diet, clean food, just too much). and it will show in my stats and pics this month, unfortunately. good thing there are 4 months left, lol

I'm so with you on eating too much. I've always had a huge appetite. I was one of those who ate 2 large pizzas at one meal and never gained an ounce of fat... until I quit smoking. Learning to limit my portions (even though I love and almost always tend to choose healthy foods) is hard!

Thanks for the avocado tips, everyone! I've tried them a few different ways over the past couple of days and just confirmed my hatred of them. They just taste like greasy banana mush to me. *shudder*

LOL!! I did almost a full year of Pilates (2x a week) before meeting my trainer and learning about planks. I actually don't have much problem with them but the time sure doesn't go fast when holding one does it?

That was always me!! The reasoning of, "well, I just ran 4 miles - I can have that big ole' plate of pasta" I've never had a problem doing the workouts, the diet has ALWAYS been my issue.

gosh, so glad to know I am not the only one with a monster appetite. "lift like a man, look like a goddess"--unfortunately for me, it is "lift like a man, eat like a man, continue to be overweight." granted, I do love my muscles, and I am definitely toning up, but I know I could be performing better with my running if I didn't have to run with these 20 extra pounds of body fat suit covering me.....

LOL cuz I'd rather eat avacados than bananas. I can only eat bananas with somewhat green peels and I have no idea why anyone would want to ruin perfectly good smoothies and fruit salads with bananas .

Wendy, your workouts are looking really good. And your food ideas and photos are great bonuses!

Wendy, I'm with you on the eating. I'm really waffling on whether or not to drop cals. If I don't, I'll prolly stay the same weight, or even be a little heavier by the end of the program. On the other hand, I absolutely LOVE the way I feel eating like this. It is a hard choice.....I keep just taking it 1 month at a time.

karen, thanks for reminding me that folks want pictures of my food, lol. I will have to remember that when I post recipes. I do like to decorate my food-nasturiums are so pretty with thai food and asian fusion.

mel, you are doing awesome and you look awesome. getting stronger is always a good thing, so I figure 6 months of this will be good for me in some way, even if I don't choose to drop my body fat.

this would be the thai beef salad with barley pilaf --oh and the pilaf part was taken from the freezer and nuked. I cook on the weekends and freeze in individual portions. so you can see from my portions why my weight will be the same next week, lol

recipe here: Wendy's Blog
