Default Keep laughing kid.

Where to start? I don't 'blog' very well or I have my own style
Here's the breakdown.

25. Divorced. 'Ex' athlete before L4-5 herniated disc between the ages of 21-24. Managed to pack 150lbs on my 5'3 frame by the summer of 2007. Got lazy. Something finally told me I was in need of a serious change at the end of the summer. Got back to lifting weights and playing softball. Realized that wasn't enough, eating habits had to go! Changed eating habits & have been a 'clean/healthy' diet for 3 months or so now. Down to 130. Not bad if I say so myself. Now, comes the serious part. I am ready for a transformation. There's a competition in May I'd like to enter. Ill have to bust my a$$ between work & school but I have more faith in myself than anyone else, which is all the matters.
That is pretty much the short story. I need a place to keep up with things on 'paper' so I can see for myself how I am doing.
What to expect from this journal: I am an annoying optimistic. I despise laziness. I work hard & play even harder. I don't put up with whinny people. If God has given you a chance to do something great, take it & be thankful.
I am an Full time Orthopaedic Tech/Full time LPN student at the moment so things should get real interesting here in the next few weeks.
Just ordered the NROL for Women. Lift weights 4-5 days per week. I am working on the cardio...ok, I hate it...but I am working on the hating it part...haha

Height: 5'3
Weight: 130
Body Fat% at last checked: 19.8%(Down from 23% when I first started)

I hate cardio too.

Paper logs if you haven't got them:

The New Rules of Lifting

Also, if you know HTML, I can send you my trog templates for the forums here.

Good luck adgey and welcome to the training log sub-forum.

Hey girl welcome to the forum. I am a fairly new member myself and find a world of great information here. Also the support and accountability rock! Looking forward to watching you grow for that competition.

Welcome aboard. We are the same size, roughly. I'm 5'3" 134. The weights have done it for me, also eating as clean as you can.

Good luck.

What's the nature of the competition? Figure? Powerlifting? Curling? Debate?

I wish I could get my weight to 127. My 'goal' has always been 120. But, none-the-less, I am in the best shape of my life. Even when I weighed 115 when I was a kid!

Us ummm, short chicks gotta stick together!

Adrian,
Welcome to the forum. You are SO in the right spot! This place is full of great advice and even better people.

You sound very motivated and have clear goals, so I have no doubt you will reach them! I have found that keeping a blog really keeps me honest and keeps me in the gym daily.

It's kinda strange that so many of us are about the same size! I'm 5'3 and three quarters. I think the lower height really poses some obstacles when it comes to weight. I don't know about you, but any fat I put on shows up right away. There's just nowhere for it to go. At least when a person if 5'7 or something, the fat has room to stretch out, LOL.

Good luck with your goals and keep us updated!

mel

Nice start to the log, Adgey. Good luck with the competition training. Like Cynic said, what are you going to be competing in?

Sorry for the delay, long weekend and busy with work. Ergh.
First Id like to say I am supa dupa excited to see the short women uniting! HAHAHA
The eating habits over the long weekend were kept in check. I started my new years resolution on new years eve night by not having any alcohol. For a few reasons, it's excess calories, I act like an a$$ when I drink and I get killer hangovers.
I know I wont be able to make it to the gym tonight cause it's goin to be a 12 hour work day.
Food:1 cup of eggbeaters w salsa. Kashi oatmeal with 1 scoop of whey protein. 2 hard boiled eggs. Salad w/ shrimp, mushrooms & tomatoes w/ light raspberry dressing so far.
2 liters of water down.

On a side note, one thing I noticed when I made my decision on New Years Eve not to drink. Of course I was made fun for not wanting to have a good time, merely a difference of opinion if you ask me but I also caught some negative feedback for eating healthy & get back in shape. Pretty ridiculous huh? Hence the reason for the title of my journal. It goes out to all those people who would rather sit back and laugh at other people goals than get up off their rears and take care of themselves.

Our friends don’t drink so I don’t get a hard time for that, but there were quite a few comments about my plate New Year’s Eve too. Stick to it, they’re just trying to justify their choices by ridiculing yours.

My friend and former spinning instructor is doing the exact same thing (not drinking for the year) and she was telling me about the same things you were posting here. That her friends were encouraging her to drink/making fun of her for not drinking and that she wasn't as fun when she wasn't drinking. Again, she only has a glass of wine or two, so is by no means drunk, but she does have a naturally lively personality which means she's generally "the fun" at any gathering she's at. I'm not sure if that describes you as well - just thought it interesting to hear the same reactions from people.

That does describe me I was somewhat shocked at first but I am over it now. Some people just dont KNOW how many calories are in a margarita!

today. i feel crappy & my attitude is pissy. i had a good day yesterday & a wonderful workout last night but i kept having to deal with my snotty nose last night & im paying for it today. i think ive been trying to fight off a sinus infection since i had my wisdom teeth taken out just over 3 weeks ago & it seemed to hit me this morning so i am taking the evening off to rest. hopefully i will feel well enough to get back to the gym saturday morning, if not, i am going to the doc. yeah yeah.
i had my sister take 4 pics last night to post on here. my computer ate the upper body pics. i swear. ill post the lower body pics.
the side note to the pics is i am glad i took them because it really showed my weak areas. the upper body pics(which i dont have atm) show how weak my back is! i knew i was spending enough time on it but wow.
as far as the lower body i am happy with my progress so far but i am ready to kick up the squats.
i was curious as to which muscles are worked out in comparison of the squat and leg press....

If you have NROL (I'm not sure what they say about them in NROL4W) a few pages are spent saying why squats are superior.

Welcome to the forums (as you have obviously not been so welcomed yet )
There was witty and helpful things I was gonna write, but then I got distracted by something shiney and totally forgot it all. That's ok though, it prolly wasn't important.

I will say that sinus infections suck ass... Having just steered clear of one myself but still winding up with a crappy headcold anyway...

oh, and welcome.

Here is some good info.
Squat

Also make note of the dept of those squats she is doing. You never have to worry if you are going "below 90" when your hams touch your calves.
