12/21/08

3 Miles with my wife.

Nice run in the cold. I only managed 7 miles this week. I don't think I have run this few miles in the past month since I have been committed to running. Its been a nice break though. My weight has only gone up a few pounds and not all of that was muscle, oops! But still that is not bad considering that normally it goes way up. I probably will go to they gym tomorrow and try to run a bit. Then off the PA/NY for Christmas and New Years. Mmmm good beer awaits.

So where in PA/NY are you heading? Maybe you'll get some skiing in?

I hear that Erie's Ol' Cease and Desist is a good brew. I've never had it, but if it's of the same quality as the Railbender, I'd say buy it.

We are headed up to Erie PA and Rochester NY. Not sure if we will have time for skiing, but maybe some tubing.

12/22/08

Warm up
1/2 mile run from Car place to gym
1 mile run on treadmill at 1% incline
squats 1x10 at 45 lbs, 1x10 at 135 lbs

Worksets

Super set with 90 sec rest

Squats

3x10 at 225 lbs

Dead Lifts

3x10 at 205 lbs

Straight sets with 90 sec rest

Bench Press

3x10 at 135 lbs

Dumbbell Chest Flys
3x10 at 30 lbs each hand

Superset with no rest until all 4 sets

Standing cable presses
4x10 at 22.5 lbs

Swiss Ball Crunches
4x25 at BW

Cardio

2 miles at 20:00 min
1/2 mile run to Car place to pick up car.

Got another solid workout in before the Holiday's. I decided if this was my last workout for a bit to make it at full body. I can say that I don't like doing those anymore. I would rather focus on one set of body parts instead. By the time I hit the last set of bench presses I was pretty dead.

We leave hopefully in the morning to head to PA. So I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I don't know if they're close or not but Middle Ages Brewing is in Syracuse, if that was of interest. Their Wailing Wench ale is a favorite of mine.

Thanks everyone. Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

Had some great beer last night.

Erie Brewery - Railbender
Brooklyn Brewery - Brown Ale
Young's Chocolate Stout

YUMMMM. By far the Brooklyn Brown Ale was the best. But if you were looking for a after dinner beer the Young's Chocolate Stout would be amazing. It needed to be paired with dessert. It was my 4th beer of the night and the drunk owner bought me a shot of some nasty fruity crap to shoot before drinking it.

Oh well maybe I can find some Brooklyn Brew in Rochester.

Brooklyn does make a good brown ale, as I've had it myself a few times, most recently on tap. Was it on tap or in bottle/can? (I ask because packaging is good info to have). If you see it in your travels, Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout is really, really good. (I know Rochester has a Wegmans - the Wegmans down here sells the BCS... see where I'm going with this?) Also in that area I'd look for Middle Ages products like Wailing Wench.

Not excited about the Railbender? Ironically enough I had it on tap on Friday and it was as tasty as I remembered it when I had it on tap.

Thanks we are going tomorrow to get beer at Wegmans. Ommegang and Brooklyn Beer. I was hoping they would have it, and from your report I should be in luck.

I really enjoyed the Railbender, but out of the three, it was the lesser of the beers. Still its like saying a Porche is not as good as a Ferrari. They were all amazing beers, from what I get normally. I will probably bring back some of all the Brooklyn Brewes, Ommegang and Erie Brewery. I had all the beers in the bottle. Wish it was on tap, but I was just excited to see them either way.

I will look for the Middle Ages stuff as well.

Happy New Year to everyone!

We are back in PA for a day and then driving back home. Loaded in my car will be some of the tastiest beer I can imagine.

Got a sample 12 pack of Brooklyn Brewery
(consists of their Pennant Ale, Lager, IPA and Brown Ale)

Brooklyn Brewery Chocolate Stout

Wild Goose Pumpkin Ale

High Falls IPA

Ommegang Sample pack with a really cool beer glass. The pack comes with 3 large bottles. The philospher's I believe, The Saison, The Chocolate Stout.

Also got a big bottle of their Dubbel.

I may sneak out and today and get some PA beer at the state store.

We went to a place that sells 6 packs last night for NYE and I picked up a 6 pack of Erie Brewing Old Red Cece and Desist beer. Not my favorite. It had a after taste much like cough syrup. I think it was more the "Red" brew that turned me off and I am not much of a fan of those. Although I like Killians Red, so I thought I would give it a try.

It was between Lancaster's Milk Stout and that and I should have gone with the Lancaster, but I thought I would give the local brew a try. I mean its drinkable and I will finish the beer unlike some heffy's I have had before that I have thrown away.

Hope everyone had a safe New Years Eve. I can't wait to get home and start hitting the gym. I feel very Shamuish these days as I am sure I have gained a ton of weight. Might need to hit the fat loss workouts before going into my new book "Power Training". I did get the Omron scale that Tom mentioned so I am looking to make sure my next bulk is better then others I have done. I feel like in the past I have gained way to much fat.

Happy New Year - you chose wisely, though I'm sorry you didn't care for the Ol' Cease and Desist. Perhaps you should let it go for a bit, and try it again in a month or so. I'm not familiar with the High Falls, nor the Wild Goose, so I'll look forward to your impressions.

So which family member/Christmas gifts did you have to jettison to make room for the beer in your car?

Happy New Year to you as well. I think the problem is not the Ol' Cease and Desist as much as the "Old Red" or maybe its the 10% alcohol content.

The Wild Goose is the pumpkin patch ale and is brewed in Fredricksburg Maryland. The High Falls is the JW. Dundee's IPA from High Falls brewery in Rochester, NY. The pumpkin ale is good, not as spicey as some as I have had in the past. The IPA will be in store for tonight.

Well we did fit everything in. For the most part I did not bring back that much beer. Most were the larger wine type bottles of beer and a few six packs. I behaved
