LOL!!! Deadlifts today and squats tomorrow. I did manage to walk 3 miles yesterday to get the legs ready for another tough week. The B workout really gets the legs.

Squats? Only if they're the Bulgarian Split variety.

8-18-08

Fat Loss 1 Workout 2B 3x15 with 75 sec rest

Deadlifts
3x15 at 185 lbs

Dumbbell Incline Bench Press

3x15 at 40 lbs

Bulgarian Split Squats

3x15 at 25 lbs

Mixed Grip Lat Pulldowns
3x15 at 100 lbs

Swiss Ball Lateral Roll

3x15 at bw.

I started feeling really weak at the end of the workout. I don't think I ate enough before the workout. This is the first workout in a long time that I just felt really weak during the workouts. So I may need to up my calories on lifting days. Oh well.

Did you have your pre-workout nutrition around the same time you always do?

Nice long run. Bring on the 16!

Lifting your calories on lifting days sounds prudent. Let us know how it goes.

I had a peanut butter sandwich before the workout. I was probably 200 calories down from where I normally am before the workout. It maybe too that my body was just tired from the 15 on Saturday and the 3 mile walk on Sunday. On another puzzling note. Some how I gained 3 pounds from Sunday. I ate at a deficit all weekend. When I woke up on Sunday I weighed in at 171. After my workout yesterday and this morning I am up to 174. This cutting thing makes no sense to me. If I am going to be cutting calories and feel like this I don't want to GAIN weight. I am hoping its just water weight, as I have been drinking a ton more water these days.

8-19-08

Marathon Training

4 mile Interval run (36:52 - 9:12 pace) Negative Split Run

mile 1 - 9:46
mile 2 - 9:23
mile 3 - 8:59
mile 4 - 8:41

Avg HR = 160 Max HR = 177

My legs felt a lot better then last week. So the muscle soreness was just from the week off. I started out at a conservative pace and picked up by mile 3. I was surprised that mile 4 was that fast. I am not sure if I am going to workout tonight or not. I have to try to see if I can register for some classes today.

I am about to venture in to a new phase in my life. I plan on going to college to get an Associates in Multi Media Design. I have wanted to learn web designing for a while now. With this at work back to being in turmoil, now is the perfect time. I am also starting a consulting company with a former coworker. So life could get crazy. I don't know what I am thinking of, all this and the Marathon/Strength training. I guess though if your not moving forward and striving for betterment then your probably dead.

There are certain foods for me that seem to trigger some kind of fluid retention - stir fries and sushi. Perhaps you had something like that that causes some retention too?

My weight fluctuates as much as 5-6 pounds daily (weighed at the same exact time, first thing in the morning). This is especially true when I am running a lot. I imagine a lot of it is due to variation in amount of glycogen and associated water in muscles. Also, if you have eaten high sodium foods recently, you will retain a lot of extra water.

I started tracking my calorie intake closely on Friday and have also been eating at a deficit. According to the scale, I lost two pounds by Sunday, then gained 4.5 pounds from Sun to Mon and then gained another 1.5 pounds this morning. LOL!

Well maybe this is just that water retention. I am kind of a boring eater these days. I eat almost the same foods all week long. So I don't think I had more sodium over the weekend, but who knows. I did take 3 gu's and drink a massive thing of gatoraide on Saturday.

That is my goal is to start this fall. I don't know if I will make it in time though. The things at work have pushed this decision faster then I wanted, but its good to get my butt in gear.
