Nice workout. You're certainly doing a good job with the tools you have on hand.

See, if I was you and trying to up my cals, I would just carry around a jar of peanut butter and a spoon....love that stuff. I could probably knock back about 1000 cals there easy. Okay, that might get old after a few days, I admit (and might seriously skew the macros!)

I would love to see Oregon. It sounds gorgeous. I have never been on the West coast--of either the states or Canada! That's so shameful.

Karla you're making me super homesick! We are planning a trip to visit my family this summer, hopefully in August. Sadly I don't think I appreciated it when I lived out there - being a ding-dong teenager. When I took Shawn to Portland for my brother's wedding, I didn't even think to take him to Multnomah Falls since I'd been there so many times on school trips and stuff. Some guy mentioned it to him at a bookstore!

Anyone of you are welcome to come and hang your hats for a few days or weeks even. I have people stopping by all the time from the internet. One of these days I am going to meet that Axe Murderer. I have two spare bedrooms and a spare bath for anyone willing to make the trip.

Here are pics for ya. One is from my deck where I was practicing one morning with the birds singing background, and the other just looking down from my backyard. See, this is what I leave when I go on these silly trips. No matter how cool the place I go, I always miss my farm and my horses and my doggie and kitty and (of course) all my friends......

I've been fortunate enough to be Karla's guest many times. It really is quite peaceful and as lovely as it looks. A couple of classical guitars on the back deck, sounds of frogs, owls, coyotes, and donkeys, a hot tub, and a squat rack. Who could ask for anything more?

Drool on the views! I got some nice tall pines across from me, but for the most part we are flat around here. I LOVE rolling hills!

My brother vacations at a B & B on the Oregon coast and the way he describes it is much like your photos - so green it hurts! Gorgeous.

Someday...

ah..... it is great to be home. It is 1:00AM on Sat morning and I just returned from an amazing classical guitar concert and drinks with friends afterwards. I will come back later today (after I sleep and have guitar lessons and do another workout) and respond to all your kind posts. I wanted to log this workout before I fell asleep so I did not forget it.

I saw the trainer again today. I sort of missed him last week and yet in some ways I hated him again. Today was the first time since I started this that I really did not feel like going to the gym. I think I am just good and tired from pushing so hard.

Anyway today was back day and my back is sore as hell right now.

have I ever told you guys how much I don't like pullups anymore? I like them okay on my bar at my house. It is low enough for me to roeach. In this gym though the bars are all so high. He has to pick me up like a toddler and lift me to the bar in order for me to do even one. And on the lower bars when I do inverted pulls I don't mind them when I can prop my feet on a Swiss ball but I especially don't like them when he holds my feet. I can't explain it except I feel like if I loose my grip and he has my feet that it might hurt. I told him I didn't like these sorts of exercises and his reply was that he wasn't in the "liking it" business and then he firmly told me to get my feet up in his hands. Anyway... Here was the workout...

Warm up
tready walk at 10% and 3.7mph for 15 min

Inverted pulls holding onto dip station bars and he holding my feet, I pulled up and through my chest.
3x15 (bw)

Standing shoulder flyes forward and to the side
1x15 (7.5)
2x10 (10)

pullups (assisted)
3x15

cable cross over flyes (cross arms in front and pull out and back)
3x15 (1 plate) - He screwed with the weight in that on the last few he added tension making it harder.

shoulder shrugs - hold weight in hands and squeeze up through traps
1x15 (45)
1x12 (55)
1x12 (60)

I think I surprised him on this last one. The 45's were just not hard at all so we went to 55 and finally to 60. I had to work a little bit for the 60s but still not too hard except for my grip.

Cool thing today was the first time he saw me in over a week. He again took some time to admire all the places where I am sporting nice muscles. He took notice of my quads which now are quite popping out and my shoulders and back and biceps. I think he is overall pretty happy with the work that I am doing but I get the feeling that he wishes I were less smart sometimes. I am forever asking questions and going deep into different topics. I know that a teacher is supposed to love that all the time but I also know how that could get a bit old....

Oh sweetie do not forget from where I come. I am a master at cutting. This bulking thing has required complete rewiring of my brain and physically it has been very hard for me. I have been doing it for over 2 months now and just now I am starting to feel okay with it. I can't wait for the cut because I know I will do that very well. Of course when I am trying to get down to 10% I may change my story.
