Yep, he's the dog. I should post a picture. He's cute and is starting to act like an old man (he's almost 14 so he's earned it!)
Measurements day for v-diet
Let me say, I wasn't expecting much because it was PMS week and every time I checked my morning weight (ok, every morning) I was only losing .5# since last Friday. So imagine my surprise to hop on the scale and see I was down and entire 1.5# this morning (for the week). Better yet, waist, navel and hips are all down .75-1" EACH!! Did I mention that I'd normally be bloated like week old roadkill about now? (happy, happy, joy, joy, joy!)
V-diet super cool realization of the moment though --- PMS rocks when every meal you eat contains chocolate!

I'm sick. Chest cold. I'm not taking anything for it but am resting and getting lots of liquid. Amazingly, I feel about as good as I normally do with Nyquil, etc. and my head is almost clearer. I think I'll skip today's regularly scheduled workout. We'll see how it progresses. We're supposed to have 45mph wind gusts all day so I may wimp on the walk outside too.
Solid meal this weekend was greek salad with homemade balsamic dressing (it's so much better than bottled stuff!!!), tenderloin steak and cheese from the cheese factory plus a few grapes. Strangely, this week is was more of a formality than something I was really looking forward too. I think things are changing mentally. Week 1 it was a goal to arrive at my solid food meal. Now I realize that it's just food. Today is day 17/28. I'm over halfway done. I feel strong & good for making it this far already.
I bought some Joe's Jeans yesterday. I got the wrong size (stupid Sam's Club) so I need to go back. I don't get sizing sometimes. My waist is 28" right now. I bought a size 28 and couldn't get them over my hips (they're strechy). Online it says the equivalant of 2/4 is a 27/28 in JJ. I don't have any pants over size 4 from any brand. So I could get being a little tight, but not this way. I'm going back today to get an inch more. I've just read of these amazing jeans (Joe's) but they're normally over $150 so I haven't bothered. $30 at Sam's so it's worth a try.

If it makes you feel better...Joe's Jeans run SMALL. It could have to do with the actual style too. They make one called the "Booty" cut which is much more friendly to a gal with an athletic build. I wear a 27 in most jeans but often have to take a 28 in Joe's (except for the Booty where I take a 27). Enjoy though...they are nice jeans!

I got the 28's today. They fit, BUT they are way low in back. I mean, WAY low so they're going back. They didn't have a name on the style so I'd bet they're something older. Oh well, it's not like I needed a pair, but at that price, I figured I'd give them a go. Any thoughts on Generra jeans? They have those right now too. For the longest time they had Lucky Brand but they were still near a C note and I basically wear jeans around the house and to school functions or football games so I don't need anything fancy.

You're talkin' to the jeans connoisseur here. I've never tried Gennera. I like some Lucky Brand jeans (especially a cut called the Wonder). It really depends on the style. Some Joe's Jeans are great, some aren't. I think oftentimes the ones that end up at Sam's or Costco are styles that either didn't do well or perhaps they were part of an irregular lot. Even though you don't need anything "fancy" ... to me it's worth investing a little money in a pair that fits well and is flattering to your body type. If you don't want to spend a TON, go to somewhere like Buckle (I'm sure you can find one near you) and try on a bunch of styles. Usually the salespeople are well trained and can pull various styles to your specifications (length of rise, straight leg vs bootleg vs. skinny leg vs wide leg, wash, etc). Then you find a style that is flattering and comfy and stick with it. The brands buckle carries are usually moderately priced.
Just my 2 cents. Also, if you find a couple brands and styles you like you can then do some bargain hunting. These are the Joe's Jeans I like - Tina loves them too. You can get them on sale at places like Bluefly from time to time. The rise on these is not too low (8.5 inches) and they are cut for someone with an ass so the waist is not gaping if it fits your ass/legs. Some jeans are simply too low for me my ample bottom just ends up hangin' out. I'm not sure how you're built though so perhaps this isn't a good cut for you. Also, just when looking at the "Honey" fit, you'll find there are different fabrics available...100% cotton vs. some w/stretch. Sometimes different rises too...so look out if you're shopping online.

Jill: Thanks for the jeans advice. I live really, really close to Mall of America, so I could spend a few hours there, trying on a good variety of jeans. I believe there is at least one Buckle there. I feel like such a hick, but I've never really cared so much about jeans (well, since the Jordache phase in jr high, but...) and I refuse to have mom jeans so I need to get educated!
Walk accomplished. It's sleeting/snowing off and on with a stiff wind. The dog wasn't cold; I had on a few layers PLUS a headband and gloves. I don't think I'll attempt my workout today though. Tomorrow is good enough.

Yay! Have fun trying on some jeans. I noticed Mall of America has a Metropark too...looks like they have lots of denim there too. Check it out.

Dh came home from work and talked me into working out anyway. It was chaos at the gym. I took the 1st available squat/power rack thing. As I was building it (removing bench, finding bar & safety bars, etc) a guy sits down on the machine behind me. Someone asked him if he was using the machine and he said "no, I'm waiting for this rack." Uh, I barely got in there and he's already waiting? Luckily for him, another station opened up and he was able to do his 1 set (using less weight than me, I noticed! LOL) before grabbing a swiss ball to do something odd in the Smith. Figures...
(only posting working sets)
Squats -- 4x5x120
MP-- 4x5x65
Rack pulls --4x5x165
Bench -- 4x8x65 (dh wasn't avail to spot and I'm still leary of dropping things on my head when I'm doing this alone)
T bar row-- 4x7x35

I think I'm finally on the mend. I took yesterday off from everything and slept. Alex the dog would make a good trainer though. He *LOVES* taking walks. There was no way I was taking my hacking cough and congested chest out in the cold so he just sat in front of me and whined, barked, howled, etc, trying to get me off the couch and down to the door. Silly dog! I guess I'll be extra good to him today and take him on the long route. I should mention that it his partly his fault that I'm sick anyway. Sat morning dh went to put Alex in the kennel (outside) before we left for the club. Alex went right past the kennel and down the street (to where he loves to walk!) so dh had to take after him and I had to follow asap with the leash and some treats (believe it or not, huskies are good runners and love to do so!). It was about 25F and I had a sweatshirt on, sprinting down the street after them, crunching in the frosty grass. My lungs hurt soooo bad when I stopped. OH well, now I know I can sprint!
I'm almost done with week 3 of the v-diet. Wow!!! Tomorrow may be weight and measure day (somehow I started doing it on the 7th rather than 8th day of the week). I don't think I've lost more than about a pd this week, but still it averages to over 3lbs/week for 3 weeks straight. Who can argue with that? I look and feel leaner so I'm expecting good things on the measuring front.
Ok, I need more cough drops (sugar free -- I tried to avoid them, but it became inevitable when water, warm tea couldn't keep my throat hydrated) and then it's off to the gym.

Is there a link with info on the V diet? I'm not familiar with it and would love to read about it. Sounds like you are doing great!

MUSCLE WITH ATTITUDE - The Velocity Diet for Women
Here's the woman's version from Muscle with Attitude. I'm not using Biotest products, so technically it's not the v-diet but I didn't want to come up with my own name for it. It sounds pretty extreme when you first read it, but it's really not that bad once you're set up and going.

Wow! I'm not sure this is something I could do. I'd love to try it, but I'm not a huge shake person and unless they taste REALLY good, I can see me throwing in the towel really quick. Also, I don't know how I would do this at work. But, it sounds great! I'm definitely going to bookmark this and keep thinking on it.

I am so jealous of the jeans shopping mecca ... we have nothing like that near here. I just bought a bunch of non-jean pants because I am sick and tired of not having any jeans that fit properly, look good, and are comfortable. I would love to go into a big jeans store and have a sales person look at my body and know what brand(s) might be best for me. Cuz what I've got isn't working! I've always said I refused to spend lots of money on jeans (like $150+ per pair ... shoot more than $50 per pair!!) but at this point I'd be happy to just find one pair that I love that fits. Sigh.
Glad you're feeling a bit better ... how did your measurements come out?

I think your commitment to the V diet is very impressive. I just don't think I could do all those shakes.
On the Jeans front, LUCKY are my absolute fave. Like, Jill, the Buckle has been successful for me. Here, they run about 80-100. I hate paying that much, though.
In the St. Louis area, we have a chain of resale stores that only takes name brand, junior sized, in style clothing. They have Lucky jeans almost all the time, and I get them for 10-18 a pair. If you have anything like that in your area, you might check it out.
