some, but not often. However, the BSS follow the box squats so who's to say that it's not a cumulative effect? do you have issues with the knees and these?

Max Effort -Lower body

Squats
8 x 135
6 x 165
5 x 185
5 x 205

Lunges
8e x 35e x 2
9e x 35e

Pullthroughs
12 x 37.5
12 x 42.5
12 x 47.5

Abs Circuit

Notes: Had planned to do 225 on squats and was working up to it. But I knew I was going to be in trouble when 205 just barely happened. So I didn't want to risk getting stuck.

Pullthroughs were too light. Should have added more weight.

Abs - got a cramp/charlie-horse like thing which was horribly not fun. And knee pain again today. Not bad, but not fun. Still, not a bad workout.

Not like that ever happens!

Good workout, Richie. The abs cramp sounded nasty - was it in your leg or your core? Weird.

No, there is no issue. Just my own curiosity. Is it box jumps you are doing or box squats? If it is box jumps, than my curiosity lies in the different stresses the exercises put on the knee. It is surprising that the eccentric loading of landing doesn't bother your knee. Is it the shearing force from the BSS that bothers you?

crap, I meant jumps, not squats. I typed my replied too quickly.

I'm honestly not sure what the deal is with the BSS and knee pain. When I do squats, I have not much issue, but something about the BSS's that puts the focus right on there. Lunges can do the same thing for me.

Lunges cause the pain also? If it's both it could be caused by the extra stability required to do unilateral exercises.

eureka. Seriously, I think that's it. I have one really bad knee from the previous injury. I think having to work it separately and not compensate or cheat, is showcasing the pain. good call.

The work outs are looking good Richie. I hope you figure this knee thing out.

thanks, Gabe.

Ugh, reeling over how much I ate this weekend. Easter lunches with family killed my healthy eating. Back on track tonight.

3-24-08

Max Effort - Upper Body

BB Bench press
10 x 135
6 x 185
3 x 205 x 2

DB Incline Press
15 x 60e
7 x 60e

Cable Pull*
11 x 90
10 x 100 x 2

Face Pull
10 x 60 x 2
9 x 60

Traps
9 x 70e x 2
10 x 70e

Hammer Curls
10e x 30e x 2
8e x 30e

Tri Press Down
20 x 80
15 x 100
8 x 110

Uni Tri Press Down
12e x 40
10e x 40 x 2

Notes: A good workout overall. I like adding some extra arms at the end. However, the bench was horribly disappointing. I could barely do 3 @ 205. I knew it was going to be rough when 185 felt heavy. No idea or explanation. Just a rough morning.

I can relate on the bench presses. For me there are days that for no reason at all the weight just seems too much. I have never been able to bench a lot and am hoping that Strength 1 and 2 will help me reach my goal of doing benches better.
Keep up the good work though. Those are still some impressive numbers.

thanks, man. I hope you have some good success on the programs.

Any time I can't get at least press out one at 225 I feel like I have failed on bench. Oh well.

Dynamic Effort

Box Jumps
BW x 10
BW x 12
BW x 10 x 3
BW x 8

Bulg Split Squats
8e x 30e x 3

Pullthroughs
12 x 42.5
12 x 47.5
12 x 52.5 x 2

Abs (weighted chair) lifts
13 x 20lbs
14 x 20lbs
11 x 20 lbs x 2

notes: No knee pain, but man I was sucking wind on BSS and only at 30 lbs. Plus, my leg felt very unstable when I was doing them, like hard to maintain form and now wobble. Otherwise, solid workout.

It's good/sad, I can 'see' that my legs are getting bigger from where they were 6 months ago, but they still look skinny. ha

BSS are from the devil. They do work wonders on the legs but are just pure evil. What program are you following?
