Hmm I dunno - he might enjoy that.

The Resolutioneers - the latest Broadway rage about a group of four ethnically diverse people who decide to act upon their New Year's Resolutions. Includes such instant classics as "Are you going to eat that?", "Working out (is hard work)" and "Don't Wait for Weight". Runs now through Feb 30th at the The Treadmill.

Hello! Very funny Tom. It's all such good theater!

I wonder why people actually still make resolutions? Most are going to fail...!

Because the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak I suppose. Plus I think people think they'll do this for a few weeks, then be able to return to their former lifestyle. And of course, it just doesn't work like that.

Default Friday, January 4th, 2008 Hypertrophy 1B Sort of

I say sort of today because I was running late and needed to cut the work short. I was able to fit in warmup, squats and deads. Darn, I never got to the BSS's or step ups! Oh darn!

I am seeing Tony G tomorrow, so who knows what sort of evil lurks there! I am thinking of moving away from NROL for a while and have him write me a program to follow. We will see.

For now though, today's results:

4 sets of 10 reps for all

Squats
Set 1 65 x 10
Set 2 70 x 10
Set 3 75 x 10
Set 4 85 x 10

Deadlifts with shrug
Set 1 105 x 10
Set 2 115 x 10
Set 3 115 x 10
Set 4 120 x 10

Thoughts:
Things were just running behind schedule for me today. What can I do? Job, kids, dog, husband out of town. Too bad about the BSS's especially! HAHAHAHAHA! Maybe do them later at home.

Oh no - you don't get to say that workout's complete until you do the BSS/stepups at least.

Was he wearing these pants along with the ripped shirt and cologne?

Although it is entertaining at times, I am glad that I workout at home!!!

Mwahhahaahahahaaa! Yikes! No, oh gosh nooooo! But he does wear his baseball cap backwards all the time with shorts. I figure he's got some passive-agressive issues going on. I'd like to introduce him to the "Manbo" above!

Thanks for the laugh! Sometimes the gym is such a great source of stuff to write about, really...It's like a sitcom. "The Gym" Who could be the cast?

Deb
My gym demographic has a lot of these:

-a pack of 3-4 tight-shirt-Abercrombie-clad college kids benching 185 with their sleeves rolled up

-the middle-aged fat guy with the cut-off shirt enthusiastically making up his own exercises

-the Ultimate Fighter who has tattoos on his head

probably a few others but those are the ones that stand out to me

Hi Griff,

Thanks for stopping by. I'm gonna go peek at your log!

This weekend was busy. I did manage to have a session with TG on Saturday, and it was a good workout. I will post what I did later, left my log at home.

Take care.

Wink Saturday, January 5th, 2008 workout

Holy guacamoly, I'm on page three! Time to bump this thing

I am going to attempt to remember my workout with Tony G , I left my log of that home again. Argh! If I can remember exactly what I did I'd be a genious!

A lot of foam rolling and mobility stuff to warm up.
OH med ball throws 3 x 10

A1. Band assisted chinups 3 x 5
A2. Incline bench press 3 x 12
B1. Elevated pushups 3 x 10
B2. Chest supported row 3 x 10
C1. One leg bench squat 3 x 10(*)
C2. Pallof presses 3 x 10

That is basically the meat and potatoes, I have to look at my log to see if I am 100% correct on everything. There were a couple of other things we did to improve flexibility as well. I really like working with Tony. He knows so much about anatomy and how each muscle affects another, and how properly developing the posterior chain is so important. Ok, enough of that. I am just lucky to have a great gym like Cressey Performance near me. I even got the t-shirt! Ha!!!

Default NROL Hypertrophy I, workout B, January 8th, 2008

I am such a forgetful person these days. I am usually good at keeping all the balls in the air, but lately it seems like just too many to juggle. Lots on my mind. My husband is soon leaving for 6 weeks of training in Dallas. While he's gone, life goes on as usual here at home. Work, kids, dog, home, family stuff, etc. Plus my elderly mom is laid up in the hospital after a fall. She's ok, and I have siblings helping her, but I am worried about her.
I am blessed in so many ways though, I am not complaining. Just hoping I can manage it all successfully while I am a 'single parent.' I have done it before, just not looking forward to it.

Workout today was such:

Squats
Warmup sets: 1: bar x 10, 2: 65 x 8, 3: 70 x 8.
Set 1 x 15 x 75
Set 2 x 13 x 85
Set 3 x 15 x 80

Dead with shrug
Warmup set 80 x 5
Set 1 x 15 x 95
Set 2 x 15 x 105
Set 3 x 15 x 115

Superset
(*) = each leg
Bulgarian split squat
Set 1 x 15 x 15 (*)
Set 2 x 15 x 15 (*)
Set 3 x 20 x 10 (*)

Step ups
Set 1 x 15 x 15 (*)
Set 2 x 20 x 15 (*)
Set 3 x 20 x 10 (*)
Set 3 (cont.) 25 x 5 (*)

Phew. Zonked after those Bss's and step ups! But feel good overall. Just very hungry and trying to keep up with proper post workout nutrition.

Had two whole wheat pancakes with sliced 1/2 bananna, drizzle of maple syrup. Yum, i just bout devoured those. Protein shake with 1/2 cup skim, 1/2 cup oj, 1 scoop vanilla protein.

10:30...two slices of low carb toast with natural pnut butter, black coffee. Oh look, it's almost lunch time!

Just something about PWO food - it always tastes so much better after a hard workout!!
