Thanks guys! I only found out that I was accepted to Villanova today; I didn't get any of the details. I have to wait for that letter to come in the mail. They have a Business Honors program there, and if I got into that, it's pretty much a done deal. If not, I might be a bit more open about the decision, but I'm really leaning toward Villanova.
I was really impressed by the day I spent there at the business school. Everyone was so accessible - all the teachers, the students, even the heads of the departments and the dean of the business school itself were all available and I had several nice chats with many of them. What really left a big impression on me was one of the seniors in the finance department presentation. He carried himself with a confidence that I could pick up on from literally the back row of the classroom. When he was answering questions and talking about the program, he was articulate, poised, knowledgeable, all those things that you strive to be when answering questions in front of a crowd I pretty much saw in this senior what I want to be like when I'm a senior and about to graduate. Plus, I wouldn't mind interviews with some of the top firms he had them scheduled for It was one of those, you get that feeling kinda things.
BC has an open house for accepted early action students around January 20. I'll see if I can get up there for that. I think right now, its #1 Villanova, #2 BC, #3 Georgetown. I really have to do more research on all three. No more worrying about if I'm going to go, now its worrying about where I'm going to go. With the choices I have, I will not complain about that.

I got deferred at Notre Dame, so my application enters the Regular Decision pool, meaning I'll find out about some time in March. I can't really do much more to improve my application than I have: post really good grades for the first semester and added a few more activities/accolades: Bloustein Scholar (state award) and I became a Eucharistic Minister, which will look very good at a Catholic school. I'll have to see what they say.
ND has been my dream school since forever. If I get in, then obviously it'll throw a wrench in the plans. :p Luckily, I have until May 1 to decide finally. I really think that if I got into the Honors Program at Villanova, I'd head there. I'm in a similar program at the high school level and have really enjoyed the added benefits. I can't go wrong at any of these schools; it's all about how much I put into it.
I think I have a vague idea of my order of preferences, but I really have no clue . There's always the possibility of doing my undergrad work at one school and going for graduate school at another!

A) Box Squats 6 x 2 @ 120
B) Deficit Deadlifts (off 3" box) 3 x 5 @ 245, 265, 285
C) Reverse Lunge Front Squat Grip 3 x 5/side @ 45, 65, 85
D) Elevated Split Squat Iso Holds (Front foot on 4.5" box) 2 x 45s/side
Really worked on the reverse lunges. I've been reading over Mike Robertson's stuff over the past week, especially his stuff on lunges. A couple of eye openers as to what I've been doing wrong. Form was a lot better this time and I could feel the difference. I worked on the front squat grip too and was able to do the first two sets with a clean grip and the last with the straps. I'll use the clean grip for as long as I can each time, to try and get used to it.

A) Speed Bench no pause 6 x 2 @ 95
B) Bench Press with mini bands 1 x 10 @ 95 bar weight + 2 mini bands (I just read Tate's article on accommodating resistance and had the urge to use bands so I just added them to the weight I was using and did 10 reps)
C) Pushup ISO holds 2 x 45s
I wasn't feeling good at all. I attribute this to my lack of control over my diet today, as in eating a bunch of Milk Duds, Twizzlers, canoli, desserts, etc. I ate like crap today. I puked after the ISO holds. It was a puke it up and feel better kinda puke.
I need to keep my diet in check over this break. I can't go overboard.

Yup, that's the one. I pretty much went over to T-nation. Went to the authors page, clicked on Mike and read all his stuff. That was a very good article with great vids. Really helped a lot to pick up one small things to key on; most of the time stuff I didn't even think about doing.

Good article. Thanks for mentioning it. I, too, picked up a ton of info in it and I'm doing a lot of lunges in my current program. I hadn't realized that some form problems with the lunges might be causing some of my knee pain problems, so today I really concentrated on not leaning forward, pushing through the heel, etc. It helped a lot.

I was mad. I went to lift (yes at 3 in the morning). I started with my box squats, sets of 2 at ~55% max. I was in a groove and could feel it. My speed felt great and my form felt extra solid. I decided it was time to go for it. So, my workout:
A) Box Squats 5 x 2 @ 130
B) Squats Maxing Out: 1rep @ 185, 205, 230 (+5), 240 (+15), 250 (+25 and my year end goal), and finally grinded out a rep at 260, a 35lb PR.
Last time I had "one of these days" I let it slip by without pushing the issue for a PR. This time, once I felt I was in the groove, I went for it, with awesome results.
I'm still mad about whats pissing me off, but totally souped about this!

Went back down to do more of my workout. I'm just completely spent in many ways but I did the deficit deadlifts:
3 x 5 @ 265, 275, 285
1 x 3 @ 300

I really felt like training today, just didn't really feel like lifting. So, I did my speed bench, which wasn't too bad and decided to take advantage of the empty parking lot across the street. Set my car up at one end, threw it in neutral, hopped out and started pushing. About half way across, I sprinted to the front and started to push against it to slow the car down. Did 5 of those will little rest, a minute at most. Feels really goooooooood. I really liked it and look forward to doing more of this stuff to help get back into shape for baseball. Hopefully I can get somebody to sit in the car so I can go as fast as I can pushing and not have to worry about having to stop the car. Even better, I'll see if Doug M is around and will let me push his truck Still have to get to Lowes to pick up the PVC pipe and concrete. Once I make the fat bar, I will look to use it as much as possible in my training.
That is all.

Its a backoff week with low volume. Only did front squats as I'm still wary of my hamstring and GHRs and Bulgarian Split Squats have, in the past, bugged the hamstring. Did the smaller accessory work too.
A) Front Squats 3 x 5 (easy) @ 135
B) Reverse Crunches 3 x 12
C) Side Bridges 3 x 30s/side
That's all.

Well, found out yesterday that Villanova has a club baseball team that started 2 years ago. I can still play in college! WOOT WOOT

A) Close Grip 2 Board Press 3 x 5 (easy) @ 135, 155, 165
B1) NG DB Bench Press 1 x 8 @ 55
B2) 1 Arm DB Row 1 x 8 @ 70
After the first superset of DB Bench and rows, I got sick. Grrrrrrrrrr. About an hour and a half later, I'm feeling better, but grrrrrrrr.

Kevin,
I would love to have been there with a video camera. I can only imagine what that looked like.

A group of kids were walking up the street as I was doing those. I almost had a fan club going
The first time was ugly, I misjudged the time I'd need to stop the car. Luckily there was still a snow pile to stop the car before the fence. After that, I feel most of the work was stopping the car. All in all, it was really fun.

Tried using a lower box today. Why? Not really sure. So, instead of the usual 13.25" box, I was down to about 11.5". Not a fan. For some reason, my lower back didn't like going lower. In retrospect, I'll lay my money on the fact that I was still using a wide stance and that was pretty far down. With a closer stance, I can do that no problem.
Nixed the rest because of the back and lingering hamstring stuff. I had deficit deadlifts, lunges, and Bulgarian split squat iso holds left for easy sets at low volume. During a deload week, I didn't want to do anything stupid that will screw me up for next week.
Not really feeling the whole lifting thing at the moment. I have this desire to train, but I feel that something keeps getting in the way. Whether it is tweaking a muscle or not being totally into lifting or maybe its the one leading to the other. Still kinda hectic with the end of the first semester looming and midterms on the horizon. Still working on my Eagle Scout project too. Lots of stuff. I have a feeling that once I finish up with that stuff, I'll be more focused for lifting to get ready for baseball. That will leave me about a month of balls-out training to get into final playing shape.
