Glad to hear of the improvement. And I figured there was no way to keep you from getting to the gym and doing what you could.
Of course you should keep the log going. You know we're just going to post whore in it until you provide an update.

I read that as "psychotherapist" the first time thru. Didn't really surprise me though.
Glad to hear you're getting some relief, Rob. Take it easy this weekend.

Sorry to hear about the flare-up Rob. How long does such a thing put you out for?
What kind of therapy does the rehab specialist usually prescribe?

Cynic, it depends on how bad it is. Usually 2 to 6 weeks. Given the improvement in the past couple of days, I'm thinking this one will likely be at the shorter end of that spectrum. We'll see. Right now, I'm only get ART done. I haven't seen the PT yet. I'm supposed to have 2 more ART sessions next week then see the PT for an assessment on the 19th. Besides the ART, I'm doing a lot of stretching - that seems to help with the recovery.

Oh man, page 5. Yikes.
Let's see - quick update. Sciatica is slowly improving still - a little better each day. Have been twice for ART this week and see an PT on Tuesday. Been really busy at work this week so haven't had a chance to do much at the gym unfortunately. I did get in today for a long stretching/mobility session followed by 10 minutes on the StairMaster then some bench press, rows, curls and tri pressdowns. Nothing too strenuous but got the muscles working. I'm doing great on the diet front ... keeping the cals in check and the carbs fairly low. No alcohol since 2/2. Attitude is good for the most part though I'm very impatient. I must keep reminding myself that I need to heal, and it takes time. Not easy.

I'm glad to hear it is on the mend. I check in when I see this log on page one. Perhaps you need to log a bit more, even if it's nothing more than "walked up five flights at work."

Thanks, Cynic. You're right - I do need to log more. That "yikes" was for me, not anyone else. I'm hoping to start lifting a little more regularly now as things improve; not overdoing it, but getting back into the groove nonetheless. Thanks for checking in, man.

First I agree... Keep the log going.
Second I am rooting for ya to get to the root cause. I just suffered a hamstring injury and am just now getting to the root cause of that one. It is a bit of a hassle but be dilligent and you will find it.

Sorry to hear of the sciatica problem. You were doing an impressive job before. Are they going to oppose going back to the same type workout after?

Your body tells you what it needs. Enjoy the rest and do what you can. We promise to do a better job of bumping your log.

Rob,
I post every day, and sometimes mine hits page five. Nothing to worry about. There are just a lot more folks posting and updating their logs and that's a good thing.
I am glad to see you are making progress. My wife is having issues with sciatica. She is losing a lot of sleep, but it's like pulling teeth to get her to go to a therapist. Her doctor tells her to take Aleve, but I don't think that is going to cut it.
