Thanks for checking in on my guys, I am alive and think I will be for a while as far as BMX is concerned. I don't think I am good enough to hurt myself yet. Kuri, I wouldn't necessarily say I am "into BMX" - I found a skate park and went and bought a cheap bike. I haven't been on a non-mountain bike since I was 14, haven't been on one of them much. And in Arkansas in the 80s, we didn't have any skate parks, all I jumped was curbs. I would say Sunday was my first real attempt at BMX, I was mostly just getting comfortable, and didn't really do much. I sure remember getting a lot more air back when I was 12 though.

You can get as intense a cardio workout from the Kettlebells as you would ever want. A couple of 5 minute circuits makes my heart want to explode. If your muscles wear down, and you want more cardio, just grab a lighter bell, and get after it. Maybe something I should have done for the Turkish get-ups. Back feels a lot better today though - I just might have attacked them too heavy too fast.

I have been training with the Club team, but haven't decided how that is going yet. Thursday and today were both pretty weak in terms of turnout and intensity. I am not sure yet how many of them are there to improve rather than just to goof off, or if we will be able to consistently have a good practice around the jokers.

That is probably because I Overhead Squat almost as much as I back squat. Tons of people back squat heavier than me, but I can do the overhead thing!

Snatch Test - 16Kg
60 Right - 3:39
36 Left - 2:25
-------------------------
Score = 48, in 6:04.
15.8 reps per minute

Jerk Test - 2 x 16Kg
30 - 1:59
15.1 reps per minute

Jerk
3x15 Double 16Kg KB

Snatch
4x10 Single 16Kg KB(each hand)

-------------------------
251 total reps

I have had a little trouble getting my workouts in this week. Today I tested my Girevoy Sport capability again. I scored very slightly better than last week(using snatch average rather than minimum), but don't feel that I performed as well. I usually feel very comfortable doing the snatches, but today was just a little off. I brought my speed down a bit in both exercises. Failure in the snatch was with out a doubt due to my grip and forearm fatigue. The shoulders go fast doing the jerk. I finished off the workout with 45 jerks and 40 snatches per hand to get some extra volume in.

2 ROUNDS - 12 reps each
Single 24Kg KB Swing(each hand)
Double 16Kg KB Clean & Jerk(2-handed)
Single 24Kg KB Snatch(each hand)
Single 24Kg KB Row(each hand)
Single 24Kg KB Overhead Squat(each hand)
-------------------------
240 total reps, 24:15: 9:54, 14:21.

Same exercises as last Saturday, but 20% more volume, and with the clock running. Not a stellar performance, I had to take a short rest after just about every exercise. My conditioning is soft. I have got to start eating better and more consistently too. Traveling this weekend made things a little worse than normal. But this does give me a good number to improve upon. I am a little curious how close this time is to my 5k time, and if improvements will correlate at all. The Kettlebell workout has a faster theoretical time(12 minutes at 20 reps per minute), so any correlation will have to take that into account, but it has me curious enough that I am tempted to go out and run.

I think it helps. Especially if you're out of shape .

Yeah, I know that eating well does help, I am just not responsible enough to get it done consistently. This is one of the reasons that I need to increase my workout frequency a little above what I have been doing. I got to the skate park Wednesday to do a little BMX(I still can't do anything), and I think I have one new adventure toy in the works that will help continue to keep me active. But I still need to eat better and actually workout out a little more frequently.

4 ROUNDS - 10 reps each
Single 24Kg KB Swing(each hand)
Double 16Kg KB Clean & Jerk(2-handed)
Single 24Kg KB Snatch(each hand)
Single 24Kg KB Row(each hand)
Single 24Kg KB Overhead Squat(each hand)
-------------------------
400 total reps, untimed.

Lots of new volume today, but at a pretty slow pace. I was planning on doing 3 rounds in no particular hurry, but after 2 rounds, I decided that I was going even slower than I wanted, and punished myself with an additional round. All in all a good workout. I need to do something a little shorter and more intense next time out, and I still need to think about doing a little running.

Gobbla always has good advice, "pick up...put down." I have been sticking with a small selection of exercises so far, but I am going to start branching out and getting creative soon. I will be watching to see how you incorporate them as well.

It probably wasn't as bad as it sounds, especially at the pace I was going. Like I said, I planned for 300 and thought that was going to be a lot. The extra hundred was punishment for my slow pace.

2 ROUNDS - 6 reps each
Single 24Kg KB Swing(each hand)
Double 16Kg KB Clean & Jerk(2-handed)
Single 24Kg KB Snatch(each hand)
Single 24Kg KB Row(each hand)
Single 24Kg KB Overhead Squat(each hand)
-------------------------
120 total reps, 6:47: 3:12, 3:35.

Today was more like a sprint. I kept the volume low, and blasted through the workout for time. 6 minutes doesn't seem like a long time for a workout, but Crossfit has helped convince me that a short intense workout has its place. My biggest issue is frequency, I keep letting soccer and volleyball displace my workouts - thinking about moving them to the morning, ugh. A week ago I did the same exercises, 2 rounds of 12 reps in 24:15 - so my speed today was almost twice as fast. I don't know yet if I am more happy with this workout or more disappointed with last week's workout.

Hows the KB work going Craig?

I'd like to see what your doing if only to keep my butt in gear.

Yesterday I did 3 mins. of 2x24 jerks & 5 mins. of 1x24kg snatches.
Jerks absolutely kill me.

I'm thinking of booking a session with an AKC coach in the area and get some help with technique.

Have you watched any of Fedor Fuglev's videos on youtube? Check it out.
