It's this same virus that is going around ... Michaela's teacher has had the same stuff ... feel better for a few days, get sick again for a few days. Our pediatrician warned me that this might be the thing. The antibiotic did clear out the sinus stuff, so that is good (and yes, Espi, I take probiotics and drink Kefir and eat yogurt daily).

Thanks guys ... I'm so frustrated ... but trying not to let it get to me ...

Things are on an upswing! I am finally starting to feel more like myself (ie I had no need of a nap today!). My voice is still pretty bad ... I am squeakier than a pre-pubescent boy, but my throat is no longer sore, and I am actually audible today!!

I did a mini-workout this morning with some foam-rolling, mobility and activation stuff. Nothing to brag about, but it was better than the lying around I have been doing!!

I have had no appetite. Weird for me as that never happens. But good I guess. It has returned a little bit today.

And look ... no whining!!

I've been on the same track with my kids this winter! How frustrating. I am so glad you are feeling better and hope you are done with the bugs!

Default Will this type of diet work for someone starting Stage 1?

Hi, Julie! I know you are dealing with an adrenal issue, but I was wondering if it's possible to eat this naturally while doing Stage 1? I like to eat food as close to its natural state as possible, so protein powders are a stretch for me. Can I eat more naturally? Thanks! Pauline

No specific cheat meals/days, but an OCCASIONAL deviation is okay. This is my health we're talking about, so it needs to be consistent and permanent.

1. 5-6 meals daily.
2. Mostly unprocessed whole foods.
3. Balanced meals only. (ie no protein only meals)
4. Protein is the foundation (2.5 oz/18 g per meal).
5. Healthy fats only, avoid damaged fats.
6. REAL carbs only (whole grains, legumes, starchy veggies, fruits) (20 g per meal)
7. Non-starchy veggies. Lots and lots of them. Aiming for 7 cups minimum.

Thanks Kelly, Jamie, and Karla ... we are on the mend!! Hayley is still coughing and complaining that she is feeling sick, but overall I think we're past it.

Pauline, welcome to the forums, and yes, you can eat totally unprocessed and still do stage 1 (or NROL4W in general). Somewhere in the NROL4W forum, Cass answers that question herself ... for PWO nutrition she finds it easiest to get in a shake, and there is some research to show that whey is best for muscle building (better than some other types of pp). But it is really preference ... you can skip the shakes, and just have a protein/carb or just protein PWO meal. Make sure to get it in ASAP after your workout.
