He was awesome! Started me on a Z-pack and I'm already feeling less headachy.
I go back next week for a follow-up where we will talk about some of my other "issues".

Hey, we've started rinsing our sinus cavities after our visit to the allergist this week...all three of us (me, Samantha and Jack; she loves it and he hates it). I think it's REALLY helped them not get ALL sick. Have you done any of that? Feels funky, but I think it really may be helping us?!

I've been doing this every day for about 6 years. Haven't needed an allergy pill since. Do you guys use a neti pot and salt water? How do you get the kids to do it?

We have this bottle and I stand them at the sink on a stool, lean their head over and squeeze away. In Samantha's head, I can see her wheels churning: This is a challenge...how much water can I stand?? Jack on the other hand is a hater all the way, but he knows Mommy will find a way to get it done, so he hates and stands anyway.

Do you do it every day year round or just during seasonal periods? It keeps popping up in different areas of my life. We don't have allergies, but we get colds and DD had pnuemonia so I'm looking for ways to keep us a little healthier. Come to think of it, we haven't written off allergies for her since she's just been a little mucus fountain since birth (she's 7 1/2).

I've been using a neti pot and sea salted water for YEARS. I don't do it daily year round, but in the high allergy seasons (spring and fall for me) and winter I do twice daily sometimes. It helps. I think it is just my particular anatomy where once I get an infection it doesn't drain well. The doc I saw yesterday pushed around on my forehead and on the back of my head at the base and on the left I nearly jumped off the table. Since starting the antibiotic yesterday I have been draining like mad (pleasant!). My neck is only minimally stiff now and I have soooooo much more energy!! (and yes, Jane, I am taking probiotics in the form of Kefir and Greek Yogurt ... a serving of each daily)
Took my photos and stats this morning since I am working all weekend and it is easier to get it done sooner rather than later since Mondays are always a bit crazy here. Inches are still dropping despite my diet not being spot on and the workouts being inconsistent. Sleep has been good though so maybe that's it. Or maybe it's the increase in thyroid meds finally making a difference!! Who cares. At least with an inconsistent month, things did not backslide!!
Oh, and a workout of sorts this morning ... power yoga for 25 minutes. Whooo hooo!
Going to work on finalizing my plan this afternoon!

My accupuncturist recommend this rinsing too for someone like me who seems to suffer from chronic sinus infection. I have yet to try it but might do so after reading this thread.
Power yoga for 25 min when you are well is a good workout let alone not feeling well.

Looking good Julie! I definitely see lots of progress even if the scale isn't reflecting it. Keep it up.

I must have gone to Greg's comment direct, anyhow I missed the pictures. Nice going, Julie.

Thanks guys!
Busy work weekend, but got my workout in on Saturday.
Barbell Complex (from Power Training by Dos)
5 reps each
1 minute rest between sets
8 sets
Hang Power Snatch
Overhead Squat
Hybrid - Bentover Row, Good Morning, Neider Press
Preceded by mobility and activation stuff and followed by stretching.
No formal workout today but did a fair amount of walking. After I finished seeing my clients, we went to a Maple Syrup How-To demonstration at our local nature center. I would so love to tap our trees and make some! Not sure if that will happen this year ... if not, maybe next!

OK, so the new plan ... after feeling like crap for most of January and February, I have decided (after input from Lisa~ and Galya) that Alwyn's programs tax my system too much. (For those that don't know my history, read back to the beginning of my log and it will become more clear ... ) As Galya said, too much Time Under Tension, and not enough recovery time, added to a stressful life (again read my log ... things at home are not always rosy as my DH has a recent onset mental issue) makes for not a happy Julie!
So ... I'm going to only lift twice a week, and I will be modifying the workouts somewhat. I am skipping ahead to Stage II. There will be more mobility/yoga ... etc ...
MONDAY: Yoga 25-45 minutes
TUESDAY: NROL4W Stage II Workout A (modified)
WEDNESDAY: Yoga 25-45 minutes
THURSDAY: Complex - Barbell or Kettlebell (*this might also include TRX stuff when the weather warms up and I can set up outside)
FRIDAY: NROL4W Stage II Workout B (modified)
SATURDAY: Depending upon needed recovery ... Yoga or Intervals (KB Swings, Bike, Jump Rope, Sprints, Elliptical)
SUNDAY: Off
*Mobility and activation work will be done daily as things have tightened up considerably during Stage I (especially my adductors and hips).
Diet will not change at this time ... it is going good (now that I am on my antibiotic, the cravings have disappeared). Plus I am logging for my new doctor and I am curious as to what he will say about my current diet.
So, yoga today. Michaela is home sick, so Hayley and I couldn't go to her program. Errands to run, then yoga this afternoon before going to my clients' this evening.
