Julia, the changes are subtle but quite visible esp the lower back.
Well done!

Hey Julie!
There is a very significant change in your pictures, Girl! Great job and I hope the sickness leaves your house, promptly!

These are easily the best black beans I've had and I'm a mexican bean freak too ... and I'm not just saying that because Roland is my friend!! Make them, you won't be disappointed!

Another workout today ... wasn't feelin' it this morning, but did it anyways ... low energy throughout, but it is done!

Extensive foam rolling, mobility, activation stuff ... then ...

A: Squat
1x8 45#
1x6 70#
2x12 100#

B1: Push Ups (FLAT) 2x8
B2: Seated Row 2x8 with 45# (should have been 12, but just couldn't muster up any more strength ... weird!)

C1: Step Ups 14" BW only 2x12 each
C2: Swiss Ball Pike 1x10, 1x8

Lots of stretching afterward, especially glutes, hams, quads, hip flexors, adductors etc ...

Ash Wednesday ... went to Mass at noon. Low energy not being helped by "fasting" today (supposed to only have one regular meal and two smaller meals and no snacks ... but I'm going to eat if I get feeling faint!).

Trying to think of what to sacrifice for Lent ... I'm thinking maybe internet time since that is something that would be difficult yet would yield good results ... hmmmm ....

Instead of giving something up - why not try doing something extra?

I always do extra ... that's why I have no time! Plus during Lent we are encouraged to do time helping in the soup kitchens, working in homeless shelters, etc. This year I think the girls are old enough to probably do the soup kitchen thing. But that is different from the Lenten sacrifice. We are encouraged to give up something that would be difficult to do without. For the past few years I've given up sugar. In the past I've given up alcohol (like in college) and TV.

"When we give up something - something important, something that functions as either a crutch or a pleasure in our lives - we make a sacrifice. This sacrifice serves many purposes ...
* It is penitential ...
*It teaches us that we don't need those things to be happy ...
* It is a building block for spiritual self-discipline ...
* It is a way of building solidarity ... "

I could ADD something, but with my already hectic schedule, I'd like to gain some time ... but cutting down my internet time.

I think you already did add something in creating and running the challenge. Many are certainly benefitting from it.

That was a pre-Lenten add. Doesn't count. Next year, sandbag.

Not to be contrary, but the biggest difference in your progress pics appears to me to be in your midsection judging by the side photos. Justs my 2 cents.

Don't worry, I won't disappear all together ... just now I spend nearly every free minute on here (where else good is there to go on the internet?!) ... and for the next 40 days I am going to limit it (haven't decided upon an appropriate number yet, but am thinking 45 minutes per day). But I'll still be around ...

We had Kindergarten orientation tonight ... OMFG ... I am so not ready to send Michaela off to Kindergarten!!! I am excited for her as she is going to LOVE it ... but I am really not ready!! I'm having a glass of wine ... I was feeling really really anxious!!

Feeling good this morning. Did more foam rolling and some yoga (with lots of core stuff in it ... more stabilizing exercises than actual stretching exercises!).

Going grocery shopping this afternoon, so that should get my eats back on track ... this week (before Aunt Flo arrives) has been less than stellar!!

Crap. Things have just been so busy. Funeral on Saturday out of state. Worked all day Sunday. No excuses, but the workouts just aren't getting done. Food is all over the place. Gaaaahhhhhh!!!

Matt has tomorrow off, so I plan to get a good workout done in the morning. Shoot, at this rate, phase one is going to take me FOREVER!!!

Keep hanging in there girl. Life happens and you have to do your best, whatever your best is TODAY...not what your best was 10 weeks ago.

One fin in front of the other, "just keep swimming, just keep swimming".

Hi Julie - triumphing in the face of adversity is what makes a champion, and that you certainly are.

Life happens. Sometimes, though, life needs a kick in the shin to get it to back off. Hang in there.
